  1. i imagine there are heated discussions right now on the Operation Grange whatsapp group as to how they can throw 'the bloody germans' off the scent and keep the gravy train on track...
  2. will be sick as a pig if this German guy gets nailed for the murder and it's case closed this thread has been a glorious slow-burner over the years - invariably a high-point to log on and see it at the top of the page every other couple of months or so seems a bit mean to deny us all such gentle, harmless fun, just so the parents of a murdered child can find some sort of closure after all this time - bah !
  3. interesting (well - a bit) stuff here - wonder if this will manifest itself across the other european leagues as they get underway ?
  4. perhaps it's "olives matter" - has she actively tried to avoid eating tapenade, been wary about focaccia and generally regarded all mediterranean dishes with a degree of suspicion recently ?
  5. two solutions: 1) plug in the charging cable first, then turn the thing off normally - it'll carry on charging in spite of being 'off' 2) make sure you have a passcode set to activate the thing; when you plug it in, the log-in screen should come up - if you do not enter the code, it'll sleep when your pre-set "sleep when inactive for xx minutes" duration expires thank you for choosing Apple products - have a nice day !
  6. would be a big step forward if those polystyrene pots that takeaway food is packed in could be banned in favour of card-only packaging; I presume that this is already the case with the larger chains, but local kebab shops, chippies, fried chicken shops and the like still use polystyrene trays that litter the place every weekend; card stuff may be equally unsightly, but at least it's biodegradable without any intervention - or even collection - required not sure why we haven't gone down the US route of card boxes for chinese/indian stuff etc, either, rather than the lidded plastic trays you get (even though they're the most useful things ever for freezing food in ! )
  7. well - I was going to post a picture of cinderella and prince charming doing their whole shoe-fitting thing, but a google image search threw up the following - not quite sure what's going on here...
  8. another ex-smoker, eh ? the cone awaits...
  9. you're saying the Wombles are counter-productive ? always had a sneaky suspicion that those furry fucks were doing more harm than good it would have been better if they'd been portrayed as a gang of littering louts, who were brought in to line with the use of the cone to make it clear that there was an effective deterrent which could be used in extreme cases...
  10. is this a service that forum members could collectively offer, now that the thread of 'asian murder hornets' * invading over the channel is a real and present danger ? have any P&B'ers ever snuggled up to a dangerous, bitey insect until it spontaneously combusted ? * link to Sun article - apologies
  11. good find - and some extreme (and it has to be said, welcome of sorts) mitigation; must admit, I assumed that it referred to 'post-arrest' fatalities and not 'during the act of...'
  12. holy shit - looking at the background to this awful story, and found a table showing details of "arrest related deaths" over a seven year period (I'm assuming that the US Department of Justice is a fairly reliable source) look at the percentage of deaths attributed to 'homicide by law enforcement - that equates to more than one per day, and not a small sample size - that is just fucking horrific ! can a poplulation just become immune to this sort of behaviour when it is quite literally an everyday occurrence ? i'm genuinely shocked at this
  13. the dumbing down of marine biology - leaves me seething; so, British scientist takes groundbreaking photograph of an octopus which lives 7000 metres down in the (south west pacific ?) - the most extreme depth at which any such creature has ever been observed. the BBC then advise the public - agog at such fascinating news - that: a) the creature has evolved to be able to withstand the extreme pressures at such a depth - has it, really - thanks for that cretinous insight b) that because it looks a bit like a cartoon elephant, it's been christened Dumbo - for f**k's sake why not refer to it as a 'pachyderm octopus' to give it some sense of gravitas commensurate with it's revelatory standing, or a sensible, proper zoological name like an elepuss or an octophant (my suggestion ) ? fucking Dumbo - probably what Jaques Cousteau would have called it, eh (well, maybe 'Dumbeau' in that specific instance...) ?
  14. plastic film encapsulation is your friend - waterproof and wipe-clean...
  15. test matches - centre court at wimbledon - grand prix winners podium - apparently he was a noted 'prankster' twenty or so years ago, and - yeah - the United line up against Bayern - looks like fabien barthez has rumbled him...
  16. used to love that random bloke who got on to the pitch in team kit and got himself photographed as part of the general 'trophy winning melee' type team line up snots that would appear in the next day's papers (back in the late 90's ?) seem to recall he got in a couple of Man United league-winning pics amongst others...
  17. the fact that the 'long awaited' return of the Premier League - before it's even happened - has degenerated in to whining and bitching about fucking money guardian article: Liverpool among clubs to argue against paying £330m rebate to broadcasters i don't really care who's right and who's wrong - what predictable, greedy, small minded fuckwittery it is, though - the sum involved is something between £10m and £30m per club - and they'd all piss that up the wall on some run of the mill squad-filling foreign non-entity without batting an eyelid; set of twats, the lot of 'em
  18. not massively uncommon, as it happens - and it doesn't spell an early death sentence either; it's believed to be an inherited condition, so chances are that herbert will at least live long enough to breed, if not last to a ripe old age (some 'normal' crows can reach 15 !); i didn't realise until recently that bird's beaks 'wear out' at the pointy end with normal use and grow constantly, so if it has to eat in a peculiar manner chances are the deformity will get worse and - because it cannot then preen itself properly - it'll get mite infestations which won't increase its chances of living to any reasonable sort of age
  19. never noticed that the original Colonel Sanders looks like Rolf Harris with a Gary Glitter goatee beard - no wonder they redesigned that fucker !
  20. yup - it's always best to have a final think about what you're doing before taking the plunge with anything like that....
  21. exactly the same as that WW2 'dazzle pattern' camouflage for shipping - which was designed to break up the outline of a slow-moving object and confuse observers as to what direction it was moving in - perfect for Phil Jones, and to disguise the size of Pogba after 8/10 months of inactivity...
  22. maybe her eyesight wasn't up to it at the moment in question, though ? that's the sort of thing you don't take risks with - it's not as if you can just jump in your car and swan about for a bit to test if your eyesight is good enough to drive, is it ?
