  1. The chat seems to be that even if the Lowland League and Highland League don’t start up again, they will still nominate a champion for the playoff.
  2. From what I can make out, we’ve already got a squad of 23! The problem being is that it’s our experienced players that have picked up injuries. Can only pray that none are serious, we looked fine tonight until we lost Osman and conceded, lost Gerry then looked like the side earlier in the season.
  3. Agree with the above. Saw enough yesterday to give me optimism for what will be easier fixtures ahead. Stirling are a good side and we’re limited to very few chances. We didn’t have many openings ourselves but hopefully that’ll click. Agree on Barron, what a terrific wee player he is and will only benefit from having the experience alongside him.
  4. So reading that, we could still be well into April without really knowing whether we have 18 games or 22?! What an absolute farce.
  5. Paddy is certainly not the one I’d get shot of.
  6. Brechin have already made 5 new signings since January - 4 of which vastly experienced and the other a young striker from Rangers who was apparently banging in goals for the reserves. Not suggestive of a club burying their heads in the sand.
  7. I haven’t spoken to any Brechin supporter that wants the season curtailed again. We are sick fed up of the media fuelled s**t that was thrust upon us last summer and we don’t want that again. We’ve done some good business in January and there is optimism that we will pull ourselves out of trouble.
  8. Not at all. I’d obviously be relieved if we avoided bottom but I’d have a great deal of sympathy for any club potentially going down after 18 matches. I simply don’t think it’s enough.
  9. I’d be mighty pissed off if we (Brechin) now only had 9 games to save ourselves from our position. 18 games for me is not enough to decide a season especially with so much at stake for those near the bottom. At least with the extra four games against the sides around about you it makes it a little fairer.
  10. Happy with that! Hopefully Bobby starts where he left off with us [emoji3] He’s a wee shite but the kind of guy you love to have on your team.
  11. I’ll stick my neck out and say it’ll be more than what Jimmy Scott will do. An immobile striker who has scored about a dozen goals in 4 seasons.
  12. Yep, very happy with that addition.
  13. Aye wtf is that all about? I’ve noticed that quite often on Forfar’s stuff now and I’ve never, ever known them to be known as the Athies. Thought I had missed something.
  14. As I said further up the thread, I think this is an odd signing. He didn’t get great service at Brechin but he’s slow and cumbersome. Not sure where Forfar are getting their stats from, he’s only scored once this season and he’s just about started every game.
  15. If true, a very strange signing. Was happy to see him move on from us. Plenty of effort but painfully slow.
  16. You seem more interested in who’s going as opposed to coming in.
  17. That is two very solid signings, in our weakest positions. More of the same to come hopefully!
  18. I thought Page had a good game tonight, particularly in the second half where I thought he was outstanding.
  19. Insightful. We didn’t manage it last January, what is going to be the difference this time round?
  20. We’ve built a squad almost entirely of kids with very little experience - that was never going to end well. I think individually they all have quality but as a unit it just doesn’t work. That is no fault of Paton’s, of course.
  21. This. I still can’t understand why he wasn’t given at least 3/4 games as a caretaker before making a decision. Here’s something to ponder, if he was still caretaker do we think he would get the job on a permanent basis? Three tough games have followed the win at Albion but the way we’ve meekly surrendered in those matches doesn’t bode well.
  22. Can you see us making the required improvements in January? It’s a notoriously difficult window to operate in and we aren’t an attractive proposition. Unless we are throwing about money we will be well down the list of potential destinations for players for sure.
  23. Michael O’Neill took a wee while to make his mark on the team but to say he barely won a game in his first 10-15 is nonsense. He took charge towards the end of a disastrous season in the 1st division (now championship) and earned a win and two draws from the last 5 games which in itself is a good start. The start to the following season was steady enough given the big wage cuts that summer. At least he had experience as an Assistant at Cowdenbeath prior to his appointment here, plus we were in a position then to gamble on an untested manager. We certainly are not in a position to do that now, but we have.
  24. I can’t see anyone that is criticising Michael here. You are the only one I can see in these thread, whether it be Brechin or other supporters, that thinks dishing a contract to a rookie Manager after 1 game is a wise decision in our current predicament! I will be right behind Michael and I am desperate for him to succeed, but I really fear this is going to be yet another disastrous decision.
