We were poor and deserved to lose those matches. Fraserburgh game we were 3-0 up going on 6 before we threw it and only a ridiculous goalkeeping error at Buckie stopped us from getting a point there.

You’ve got to be joking. The 3-2 game at the Glebe was a great advert the league. Yesterday was dreadful to watch, largely down to the wind.

Have you looked at the quality we’ve been able to attract since the summer? This squad is ten times better than anything I anticipated after the lows of the last 3/4 years. There are several players in there capable of playing at league 1 level. We’ve already replaced Denham and Milne but no way we’ll be able to replace Max. One of a kind.

They looked as if they could play a bit as well, or at least a number of them could. From what I saw on Saturday, if they can keep up that level of performance then I should think Turriff and Strathspey will be looking over their shoulders. I still think they’ll have too much to do but I think they will get take some points off the poorer sides in the league without a doubt. How long will some of these players stick around though?

Agree with the above. I’ve really enjoyed the season so far and it’s just refreshing to head north visiting new places and grounds instead of the same shitholes like Cowdenbeath and Coatbridge twice a season. Think this is an opinion shared by a lot of the Brechin support - I’d say we have taken 100+ supporters to most of our away games this season and in some cases have outnumbered the home support. I see a lot of new faces that are travelling week in week out now.

I find that very hard to believe. Compare our squad this season compared to last and it’s night and day. Our squad last season was full of untested kids and this season our squad is packed full of players with players with a proven pedigree at a higher level. I have little inside knowledge, but I’ve heard heard of the eye-watering wages Davo is taking home which would be equivalent to about 3/4 players last season.

I find it quite staggering that the official Highland League website only has scorelines and doesn’t have goalscorers, lineups etc.

You’re spot on there. It’s nonsensical that a competition starts in mid-July without being able to name a couple of trialists. Travelled up for the game yesterday and thought we gave a good account of ourselves. Wasn’t really much in the game at all until we tired late on.

Just because they come through at bigger clubs doesn’t mean they are any good. They were untested - there was many of them last year without a single senior appearance and hadn’t played in front of a crowd before!
