  1. You can't pick and choose what stuff is "lazy" purely because you prefer not to address the darker sinister stuff, unfortunately it's all lumped together as part of the 'being an OF supporter' package. Lazy ... OK. Is it pretty lazy like protesting anything to do with cremorating war dead because you disapprove of one conflict over all the others people gave their lives for, even the ones that give you the free speech to voice your opposition to everyone and everything. Would that be cherry picking or lazy lumping?
  2. Just checking, Phoenix tifos glorifying organised crime/terrorism, going on and an on about a war 330 years ago and Palestine/Israeli flags …. Weird too?
  3. It's heavy lifting to question the morals and ethical behaviour of G4 and cite Uppercrust as a paradigm of virtue in the same post. #ifyouknowyouknow
  4. When I read it I took it more as Flao listing his CV of past and current achievements, making sure they weren't overlooked by the fans at times (while mopping the floors and painting the main stand steps) rather than a realistic candidate they could hope to attract at the money they're offering. The 20 or so individuals that adhere to all the requirements are on multiples of what we're offering and there's 50-60 clubs ahead of us they'd rather be at.
  5. What do we reckon lads .... chances on them payin it up? However, only one club in this league don't get tic ........ literally and ideologically
  6. New club, new me. Is it multiple tattoo pens tied together or does the poor bugger doing it have to dab dab dab.
  7. Golden handshaking Tony to make funds available for Grimmy has given me life.
  8. Nah they backed it up with reasonable references and context. St Mirren fans claim that in 1977 they had more fans inside Fir ..............
  9. I asked them the question a few months back on their forum and they said he was miles apart and they felt lucky to have him, well that was he gist.
  10. 10k a week is a mil and a half, just keep him out the bookies. Carlsberg don’t do season run ins, but if they did ….
  11. Obika was effectivish before his injury but maybe it was just playing someone to get the best out of Kev and not 40 yards away that made things rosier. Time will tell if we learned our permacrock striker lesson. As much as many have written a few players off, Ketts has shown he can coach and play to individual strengths. So I'm at the don't know why but very glass half full when it comes to Maguire, Shields and Lamie. I will not be putting my house on it though. I'm torn on SOD. I think he's rarely had a above average performance for us since he arrived but I put some of that down to having to temper Alexander for the best part of a year and his instructions but he wasn't great under Robbo either. Issue is he wasn't ever overly fast, he's now a year older and if we persevere with WB's (even if he doesn't have a bungee attached) it could be exploited. I'm happy to put Slattery's hot and cold form for the past 18 months down to this off field shit, this is make or break for him in terms of a decent income from football or a jobber. What's a cert our 2021 signings of him and Kelly on three years deals will not pay off financially. Our recurring left back search continues as is Kev's replacement. Interesting to see if we can't find a defensive midfielder if Butcher will be tasked. He got plaudits for centre half, won the coaches player of the year and maybe likes it better. A midfield of Butcher, Slattery and Spittal is an OK mix to be fair. I'd be reluctant to move Spittal deeper into the LWB position but I guess he could play it in a pinch. Based on who we have in the building, I'd say the priorities at present are: Left Back/LWB Main striker Then, depending on where Butcher is envisaged being used (prob defence): Defensive midfielder/disruptor Centre half (or a backup if Blaney is considered ready, I still harbour hopes Casey will return once he's finished rooting his American cheerleader) Then after that it's probably wants rather than needs and moving contracted players on to get someone new in if every penny is a prisoner and our squad has quite a few guys on contract but unlikely to feature. I doubt there's much room for more forwards beyond Kev's replacement so: Left Back backup (let's face it McGinley is out his depth, Lamie gives not much confidence and SOD switching is not great) 2 More midfielders but not at the cost of Lennon Miller's game time (seems Paton is one) Interested to see who Ketts has got his eye on and if Frail will add anything to the search, not that we'd know.
  12. This is what I alluded to yesterday but didn't actually name him. If he has the potential go for a very good return then we need to be thinking strategically at present how that progression is managed in terms of exposure and increasing his game time. Especially if that return (fingers crossed) could be in excess of 2 average seasons worth of Scottish and League Cup runs which is our "cream". I think to do this, everything has to be on the table including a formation or tactic that can accommodate and showcase the best of him. It also doesn't necessarily mean that will be at the detriment of results, it could very well enhance them. As for Max, I get every player might not own a dug but the "here's ma dug" feature a while ago, there is usually a reason behind who's being covered in our media stuff. There is zero reason Hammy couldn't have kept him around or set up with wingbacks after Penney was secured. A good few months under the belt by Christmas in the top league, it would have been an easier sell to him. And following on from above, to accommodate him, McGinn would have been pushed in beside Sol and Lamie which wouldn't have been a bad thing, you know like when we got a pragmatic coach.
  13. You do know if this is revealed the Twitterati show up. "Awright Kettsy ma lad, so yi punting Lamie then? Tierney gonna get a game?"
  14. This done on a meme generator or a DIY job? Could find many a use over a season if its interchangeable.
  15. When you realise your feed is on a 3/4 minute delay and see "Yasssssssss". It's like waiting for a VAR decision
  16. Attritional and bitty at times with all the niggling shit, so wasteful in possession though and that's a worry. Tierney must have gave that "I've got a medical at St James' next week Steve" look.
  17. Maybe a moon howling post to some. Louis has got roughly the same game time with us than all his other clubs in the past 7 years. By all accounts he's a good guy and gets the off field stuff. As we're a first team coach down, I'd be behind offering him something as a bridge to coaching/management* while retaining him on the books. I suppose that is based on if he feels he's got another 4/5 seasons in him solely as a player and you'd imagine a higher wage. Also if it would be hard to juggle teammate one day, guy commanding respect and giving orders on the training pitch the next. *To clarify management in general not necessarily with us
  18. A number of great points there. You're getting a greeny purely on calling Alexander's style "football terrorism" which is possibly the most succinct description of it I've seen of it. I think what you say boils down again to contempt those in the game have for a number of us sitting in the stands. I've not played above amateur level but over the course of a year I must watch about 100 games at all levels. I can tell more often than not when something is amiss or a change is needed and that's without any SFA/UEFA ticket. I don't think I'm an outlier among the posters on here, often there is broad agreement after a match. However, to be fair there's been many an epiphany "fair one" during the TV analysis when something is shared I overlooked or ball watched during it. But this "show us yer medals" disdain at times directed at all sections of our support is as much a rid neck as it is infuriating but I get there's moon howlers who ask about dugout locations. We all know that at all levels of professional football, there's a "sit in your seat, eat your pie and shut the f**k up" uncurrent in private. The modus operandi for any new manager's first press conference at Fir Park is: Great little club, salt of the earth support, community focus ....... and the golden goose ...... promoting youth. We are a selling club that relies on our academy setup, a canny buy, redemption arc for someone taking a step back to take two forward. When a manager comes in and spouts this (because it is intrinsic but also is a good PR return) then they can't overlook or dismiss it later when sat in the office in the bowels of the POD with a whiteboard. I would say there has to be a serious discussion held at board level within the club about our long term strategies. If managers really care about advancing the club, then sticking rigidly to an "ethos", "philosophy" or want players to "express themselves" (all embarrassing concepts/buzzwords that have crept into our game), can't be allowed. Turnbull went for £3m, Doig for £3, what would Wee Al have gone for with in 2021 if he was on the books to 2022? Based on that, Max it would be hard to argue is not a 7 figure player. When player sales can eclipse other parts of our income then it has to be taken seriously. If a manager arrives with a rigid formation or style of playing he should be getting asked why is it being stuck to at the detriment of showcasing such a valuable resource for us. If you hire a manager having cited this youth stuff in his interview yet he goes out and buys journeymen who offer little more than 15 years in the game more, then he should be getting called upstairs for a coffee (without biscuits) and asked WTF? I'd argue it's more than just that, while remaining in the top league is core, there's nothing to say that can't be done with showcasing your sellable talent, putting it in the shop window and giving it the formation and tactics to flourish. I've gone on before about us as a club looking for may hay while the sun is shining moments and putting everything to them. 3 (you could argue 2) games last season in cups cost us £1m easy, both against lower opposition. Now while relegation would eclipse that, you can absorb not getting results pretty much for half a season and stay in this league, and before Hibs and Aberdeen got their shit together, qualify for Europe. I suppose it's why I'm so enthused with 4 months into project Ketts. While I don't think he looked as far down as the academy, he did assess what we had in the building and was pragmatic enough got the best out of our squad which lent itself to 352 which a fair few of us could see under two the previous managers and arguably Robbo too.
  19. I won't say it's when the contract was offered, a well thought of talent for quite a bit (I first heard positive things about him over three years ago) in the last year of his deal punted out on loan by an Academy Director turned manager early in his reign sticks in my craw. It just sends the wrong message. He is getting sound advice from his Dad who's got the T-shirt and the hardest working agent in Scottish football working on his PR. Wither it be in the press or at the AGM it was cited he was all about getting first team exposure, a reserves or B team setup at a marquee club did not turn his head. Getting brought back into the fold in January you can't blame him for thinking "why should I hang around?" especially as the countdown clock is ticking. The criminal decision making of such an asset is a ball drop.
  20. His reported suitors are like a Hibs. They get relegated you’d think even though the championship is more of a contest they’d be quite a bit ahead and promotion a formality ….. <thinks back to 2015ish> maybe not. I suppose if it does go through it’ll all be in the wording after citing his run in stats and record breaking. If the word “substantial” precedes “potential add ons” then it may be rosier than some are making out. I dunno it just feels like a low ball as reported. The reality is probably the pragmatism of @thisGRAEME’s post.
