  1. The 7-0 game was a real highlight in a season full of them, best ever season supporting the Albion, bar none. Two things stick out about that game... 1. We won it by that margin without top scorer Stevie McCormick who was suspended 2. His replacement, Gary McGrotty, won us a penalty, when home keeper John 'Budgie' Burridge brought him down with his nose. What a time to be alive that was. Canny see the same thing happening next weekend however, but I am looking forward to the trip. Any Queens fans know if away fans are allowed in the bar at the ground?
  2. Yes. It was the first ever live game* at Forthbank featuring the Albion yesterday. The Hibs game wasn't live on national TV I don't think. Incidentally, the first ever live game* at Forthbank was just a few days beforehand, the Uni's game vs Albion Rovers. *Shown nationally
  3. One thing to note, it may be on health grounds. He got absolutely riddled with Covid, and during the meeting we had, you could hear him struggling for breath at times, so that may have been a factor. However, not getting the players names right wasn't a great start, and he talked for ages without really saying anything. Strange appointment, even stranger departure.
  4. No, because if he had the top banner would have said 'So, I'm sitting here thinking...'
  5. Or Loftus-Cheese if your name is Glenn Hoddle.
  6. One of the few I've not read yet. I'm up to 52 so far (novels, not including collections etc). Just finished Cujo for the first time tonight as it happens. Really good story. I think the only one of the classic early novels I've not read yet is Firestarter. Not read The Institute yet either.
  7. Aye mate. Some of the other characters from the Mercedes trilogy appear, but it's her novel. The villains in this one are among King's most evil non-supernatural villains.
  8. The latest Stephen King book, Holly. A recurring character from previous works, it's a really good standalone novel. Not classic King by any stretch, but given he's well into his 70s now, still an impressive effort. 7/10.
  9. I thought McGregor played ok, but other than that, not many other pass marks apart from the keeper.
  10. If Bellingham stays fit, England have got to be favourites to win the Euros next year. He's a true next level footballer. Their front four is just ridiculous.
  11. That'll be two rounds in a row their League 1 opponents have fielded an U20 side against them.
  12. Right, a wee thread bump, and a reminder that this year's event is on Saturday 14th October. There are two start times for this. The official start time is 12 Noon at the Times Square pub at St Enochs, but all the cool cats (plus me) will be starting at 11am at Dows next to Queen St Station. There's next to no chance of any of us finishing it, especially the original crew as we're all too auld now, but it should be a decent day nonetheless.
  13. Bit of a stretch having Tierney among those names. His parents are Scottish and he moved to Scotland from the IOM at 10 months old.
  14. As much as that is true, he had a very distinctive commentary voice. Too many of the current crop all sound the same. And that's much the same for the English contingent as well. Darren Fletcher and Guy Mowbray might as well be the same person. Same with Liam MacLeod and Rory Hamilton up here.
  15. He looked really annoyed to be subbed off. I like that.
  16. It's a mark of how far Scotland have come that I genuinely couldn't give a fish's tit about this game. Usually get quite pumped for a game against THEM. This time, it's quite 'meh' I reserve the right to change this standpoint should we be gubbing them on Tuesday.
  17. Personally I think they will, but that's not important right now.
  18. Jock Brown was a fantastic commentator, him and Archie had such distinctive styles back then, unlike the identikit commentators we get now. Peter Drury is probably closest to being a throwback of that era. That game was also David Narey's last game in a Scotland shirt, not a great way to bow out. Still, he'll always have the toe poke...
  19. The amount of times I've watched those goals must be in three figures by now
  20. Could really do without the England game and the France away game coming up. Given we'll likely get battered by both (and by Spain also), I don't want us going into potentially crucial last games v Georgia and Norway with the confidence smashed. On the flip side, we might win all three, in which case, we're also winning the Euros. Scotland, absolutely nae in-between!
  21. It's true, a half decent team would have put ten past us that night. By a million miles the worst performance of the Darren Young era, but it was a free hit anyway. It's hilarious how precious the Falkirk fans are because everyone else doesn't think they are 1970 Brazil
