  1. Without knowing a bit more about the underlying heart condition (and I probably wouldn't post about it here), I don't think it's possible to really give a answer one way or the other. I'd suggest asking the cardiologist what they would personally do in your circumstance and be guided by that. Often in medicine there's not a right or wrong answer and boils down to balancing benefits with potential risks. Since the Montgomery ruling a few years ago, the balance has changed in terms of what doctors are expected to tell patients. It's perfectly reasonable to weigh up the options and decide to do nothing, if that's what you want.
  2. This was the state of the pitch immediately prior to the start of last season in July. Somehow, Fort felt this wasn't an issue that needed dealt with or indeed communicated to the LMC. They were offered the option of abeyance for the season (no automatic relegation!) or to play matches away from home (with transport provided at the opponents' expense.
  3. Trust me, we didn't want to cancel stuff. Problem we had in theatres was that we had a lot of staff with caring commitments. Since schools, nurseries and day centres were shut and they all had to take emergency carers' leave, which mean we had to cancel some lists so that we could staff the others based on surgical priority. Given we can only staff at the bare bones normally, it doesn't take many to be off to cause problems.
  4. Have been caught up in train and now bus shenanigans due to the Dyce body-on-the-roundabout incident, so arriving in time for kick-off looking unlikely.
  5. Needs a more erratic colour scheme and `punctuation` IMO.
  6. He's not been brave enough to post on FN yet, I see.
  7. No word from the health board yet what's happening next Monday. We've got over 20 full theatre lists, can't see them cancelling, but if schools are shut we're going to lose staff due to childcare. I see in England, GPs can close. My wife's surgery has 120 patients booked in plus those needing bloods and other tests and she thinks it'll be a disaster if they have to close. No way the board will get enough emergency cover in place in time.
  8. Pete, mate, you don't have a group. It's you, sitting in your pants in your Albufeira timeshare.
  9. Mostly missed this saga by being in Spain, but I'm supposed to be flying back into Edinburgh tomorrow then heading back north, going to be fun. Looks like our road will have had the procession along it as well, now wondering what the police will have done with my other half's car...
  10. They do a good chicken parmo. Think the owner's from Middlesbrough.
  11. Under 18, keep them in the youth squad and don't play them in the first team or loan out. They develop better with training and mentorship. If they're flagged as available for the first team then they'll lose training time for rest prior to games even if they don't play. Once over 18 they develop more with competitive experience so loan them out if they're not going to be a starter for you. If they're not developing, then cut them loose once contracts expire. Unless you've got an amazing academy, you're not going to get many decent players through. To be honest, you're best not spending on youth facilities until you can afford it as they're massively expensive and the return on investment is limited. Better spending on loans and attracting players on free contracts. However, since you're doing a Invernessian only save, you don't really have an option!
  12. The HCSA union who represent hospital doctors have advised members in Scotland to reject the pay offer and asked their opinion on industrial action. The BMA have asked Scottish members if they want to accept or reject the offer. In England, an emergency meeting of the junior doctors committee had agreed to ballot on industrial action if the government doesn't agree to pay restoration by September.
  13. RCN asking their members to back industrial action in September. https://www.rcn.org.uk/Get-Involved/Campaign-with-us/Fair-Pay-for-Nursing/Latest-updates/Industrial-strike-action-ballot-FAQs BMA likely to follow suit. Currently asking hospital doctors to reject extra-contractual work unless paid at reasonable rate. Junior doctors will likely vote to withdraw all cover, including emergency cover. Consultants will probably vote to withdraw all but emergency care. Several militant doctors elected to council and BMA may have finally grown some teeth.
  14. I'm sure one or other if the North Isle teams used to play in the B league at one point
  15. My in-laws live in a very touristy area in the Highlands. Many businesses are tourism based and very seasonal. The combination of the end of free movement and the insanity of long-term accommodation availability and prices in the Highlands means many places are only doing food four or five days a week even at the height of summer. Energy costs are already huge up here and it's only going to get worse this winter.
  16. All the French amateur leagues do the 4-2-1 points thing. It's supposed to encourage clubs to get the game on. Doesn't really work in FM as teams never scratch.
  17. Actually, he has A RARE EYE CONDITION YOU UTTER TRUMPET What happened to Mubtumbo Dryhorse?
  18. Hall Russell United sprung from Hall Russell's amateurs, the works team of the shipyard. Similarly the recently defunct Lewis United were the works team for John Lewis & Sons shipbuilders. Stoneywood Parkvale's lineage includes Stoneywood Works, the papermill's works team.
  19. This season needs a new thread started!
  20. ...and then Stabs beat Groats 3-1 in the Mackintosh Cup final. Albeit, Groats were playing with 10 men for a hour.
  21. Groats humped Pentland Utd 5-1 last night in the league, makes things interesting.
  22. Quarter Finals (Saturday 16th July) 1200 Stromness Athletic 3-5 Pentland Utd (Market Green) 1430 Ness 2-1 Avoch (Fivepenny) 1500 IRN Security 0-4 Wick Groats (Cromal Park) 1500 Golspie Stafford 3-3p High Ormlie Hotspur (Stafford Park) Semifinals (Saturday 6th August) TBC Ness v Pentland Utd (TBC) 1500 Wick Groats v High Ormlie Hotspur (Back Park) Final to be played Saturday 20th August, venue TBC Superb day for Caithness football and really, it could be anyone's cup. I'm still leaning towards a Groats/Stabs final and think Groats will just nick it, but would be pleased to see any of these in the final. Particularly good to see a Thurso team, even if it isn't Swifts and delighted for Ness as well.
