  1. Requesting relegation voluntarily at the end of the season is one thing, but the OP is suggesting that clubs can be encouraged by other parties to resign from the league by being given cash. You can call it a parachute payment, but it's essentially a bribe.
  2. There does need to be a degree of pragmatism about what services it is realistically possible to provide locally. The Scottish Government's plan for Dr Gray's is total pie in the sky. There is a tertiary centre in Aberdeen and a big district general in Inverness. Does Dr Gray's, a hospital with 100ish beds (well below a standard DGH), serving a population of 90,000, that struggles to recruit and retain staff need a full district general service or should we consider looking at something approaching the rural model, like the Islands, Fort William, Wick and Oban? For example, Elgin has never had a "full" consultant-led maternity service. It has never provided high-risk care, never had resident obstetric and anaesthetic medical staff, never had an epidural service and never had neonatal. There are around 1000 deliveries per year in Moray - 3 a day. Is it realistic that a "full" service can be provided? How would you staff it around the clock? How would staff remain skilled? The current situation isn't ideal, but some cross-board working wouldn't go amiss.
  3. Although we still have the fourteen territorial health boards, to a degree we already have NHS North, West and East. Pragmatically, it makes a lot of sense to concentrate specialist services in certain centres and to provide a general service elsewhere. The difficulty is providing equity of access to those services to the whole population. This starts to become very political, very quickly and requires hard decisions that are universally unpopular, even If they make services safer and more effective. In particular, I think of the continuing saga that is Dr Gray's Hospital in Elgin, which is 65 miles from Aberdeen, in the same health board, yet 35 miles from Inverness, but it is a different health board. When women in labour have to go from Forres to Aberdeen, something is going wrong.
  4. Shambles as before. Gutted for the decent clubs being shafted by the diddies wanting to bend over for the B team cash. Yet again the hypocritical Lowland League demonstrate their complete lack of integrity.
  5. Can't see why you would need to bypass the switch. I installed my own outdoor PIR lights. Old lights were controlled by a switch inside. I just replaced the old lights with new fittings and keep the switch turned on. Still works to turn the lights off. I imagine the electrician hasn't done anything to the actual wiring if he's just replaced a light. He'll probably have rewired in the switch backbox, so you might be able to add the switch back into the circuit.
  6. When my father was at tech college in the early 70s, their "computing" class had no actual computers. They were taught Pascal from a book, coded their programs onto punch tapes that were then sent off to a university computing department somewhere. A week later they'd get a roll of computer paper back that if they were lucky, had the results on them, but most often just returned "ERROR".
  7. I can't see the Highland League Cup final at Inverurie going ahead tomorrow either
  8. Yeah, tell me about it...
  9. Late to the party here, but there's cracking highlights of this game on YouTube
  10. I always knew it as Coulardbank after the road. @Jimmy Shakeris your man in the know It looks like Canal Park to me too. Deveronside 1-5 Inverness City in the North Division 1 on that day
  11. It was Tremarco. Mackay was watching up by the main stand, looking raging.
  12. Dire. And not just because of the haar and the fact the pie hut wifies went in the huff during the first half of extra time and shut up shop.
  13. Might have missed this, but why are both teams in their away kits?
  14. There's a reasonable amount of parking at the ground if you get there with some time to spare. Otherwise there's various car parks in the industrial estate that should be okay. I usually get the bus from town though.
  15. Professional regulation for hospital managers was a recommendation in both the Bristol and North Staffs enquiries and, yet, non-clinical managers still don't have any accountability to a regulator. At present, only managers who are also regulated by another body e.g. GMC or NMC actually have any professional accountability for their actions.
  16. Fort don't own the ground, it's leased from the council. I suspect Fort's amiable chairman is playing silly buggers as usual. This should've been sorted by now, maybe the SFA should just take it out of Fort's hands.
  17. I'm not convinced there'll be any licenced clubs imminently in the North Juniors. I can see Dyce doing a bit more work over the next few years, but a licence would be a few years down the line, at least. I was speaking to someone at Culter last year and the impression I got was that they're not presently looking at licencing, but they weren't against the idea - I think they hadn't really explored the idea.
  18. Sea Salt and Sole is decent. Only been to the one in Dyce, but supposedly they have shops in Cove and Bridge of Don now. I got a fish supper from Lows at Berryden (more fool me) a few months back and it was bowfing.
  19. Fort seem to be going for their standard approach of signing up random players from the depths of the English pyramid in an attempt to take the NCL by storm.
  20. I'm not sure that I'd include friendly matches in the statistics. You might find some more info by posting on FitbaNorth
  21. There's a personal savings allowance: basic rate payers get up to £1000, higher £500 and additional rate gets no allowance. After you've used the allowance, you're taxed on anything over at the relevant rate.
  22. I was working up there and they had athletes in the hospital accommodation, which handily overlooks Gilbertson Park
  23. I think Rovers are sadly no more.
  24. Good job you were paying attention, Robert, we might've missed it
