Cove start as per below. Can't say I'm impressed Hartley has chosen Gourlay over McKenzie. In fact I'm completely against this. Unless the latter isn't fully fit this is a terrible decision. McKenzie was in the L1 team of the season last year, is a solid keeper and has a strong relationship with our defence.

Neill starts with Strachan not fully fit and on the bench. Strachan is our best CB.

Draper over Scully is ludicrous imo.

These bad choices could cost us points today.

You playing 5 at the back or will Logan be playing right midfield?

I don’t buy for one minute that Cove can offer more than we can. I can, however, understand that they will pay players extremely well to play part time football, which combined with a job will take their pay above what we can pay. I’ve said before that being full time in this league can be a disadvantage when trying to attract some players.

And the big signings they have made have been players already based up north. I'm just disappointed we haven't dealt with our own key deficiencies from last season. Hall should never have been resigned that should have really been the clue as to how it was going to go, We needed more than one centre midfielder brought in and we needed a much better option upfront than Jaime Wilson.

There’s been all sorts of moans on this thread. Some justified, some not. However the worst moan is that each player doesn’t have his own individual treadmill.

It wasn't a moan. It was a suggestion when it was assumed players couldn't go outside when they were self isolating. Now that assumptions been proven wrong then obviously there's no need for them.

Treadmills would be fine if they were distance runners but they’re footballers. It’s not going to help much in maintaining the type of fitness they need.

You can do interval training on a treadmill. But anyhow if they are allowed to exercise outside whilst self isolating then there's no need for them.

You are allowed to go out for exercise alone when isolating.

Also have you seen the price of a treadmill??

It's not that much in the grand scheme of things. Could easily get 25 of them for 10k £400 a pop or even less.

I wasn't aware that you were allowed to leave the house when you were self isolating though so the treadmills are a non event if the players could have still been going out runs.

Aye wait the now so the club can go and buy 22 treadmills to supply the players to take home with them 😂

Companies made deals with technology companies in order to help get equipment out to staff so they could work from home effectively. This isn't really any different. The club could easily bulk buy them at a discounted rate and get them sent out to the players as it most likely won't be the last time players have to self isolate due to a close contact.

  7. I want to wait and see what the line up is like before comitting to buying the stream but if I leave it that late i'm not sure that I'll get access. For example if Telfer's out I may as well not bother as Gary Miller will be on the park and you can more or less guarantee Ben Hall will be also if he's not one of the affected 5. If Wilson's starting then it'll be an easy decision for me.

Even with a full strength squad we'd struggle to beat Cove right now as we've still not got anything up the top end of the park.

Agreed, but what if some of these players live in a flat? Or have a small garden? Isolation means they can't leave the house so how on earth can they possibly keep fit to the level of a full time professional football player when stuck under these circumstances?

    You've got this Pelaton emoji106.png

There's this thing nowadays called a treadmill and if our players don't already have one we should definitely look at fixing that need.

Is Keena not ripping it up for you? I genuinely thought when we had him on loan he'd destroy League One.

He's a poacher which doesn't really work when we're playing one upfront against teams who are sitting deep and making it difficult for us to break them down as the two centre backs can easily pick him up due to them having no one else to worry about. If we played with 2 upfront he'd be fine but he's not suited to the loan striker as he won't hold the ball in for you and likewise he'll very rarely go in behind the defence.

Again I’m no fan of the SPFL but the club have a short lived memory. The SPFL allowed us to move a fixture when the floodlights needed replaced. Can you imagine the outrage if fans were back and fixtures had to be changed due to lack of daylight? I think the club got off with that one to be honest and were lucky it happened when no fans were able to attend.

The lack of preparation isn’t ideal but we should have a full squad to select from. Celtic had to play against Hibs when they had 13 players missing plus their manager.

An angry tirade against the SPFL only serves to deflect the fact we have a small squad with little quality.

Full squad minus the covid 5 so 15 players but only 15 if there aren't any injuries. For example Mckay might still be out injured.

    This.
Go up and play for a 0-0, a bit of hoofball required, line up as follows:
                                         Martin
    Williamson McKay Dixon Lemon McCann
         Ross Telfer Hetherington Nesbitt

                                   Morrison
Use Morrison's pace and trickery to see if he can make something happen upfront on his own, he's a better option than any of our 3 "strikers" (I use the term loosely).

Any time one of our players gets on the ball, just hoof it straight out the ground.

That's it play like Airdrie did in the last 20 minutes of the game they beat us 2-1 at their ground last season. The only positive to take from it is no matter who has Covid we'll not be missing anything decent upfront. If it's either of Ryan Williamson/Dixon/Telfer/Morrison then we're humped.

Just wondering how many available players you have outwith those isolating until Friday or Saturday? If there is any circumstance where the club’s (lack of) available players might require one or more of those isolating players to play the match, it should be absolutely postponed and the PA should be screaming to high heaven about the risk to the player(s). It would be  utterly insane to expect a player who has been limited in fitness activities for the preceding 10 days to risk his season or career to keep some opening day match from being postponed. It’s not so much the lack of practice as the lack of a proper workout followed by a balls to the wall effort.

Personally, lock the SPFL Board into small boxes for a week, and then have them compete on an obstacle course, with wolves chasing them, while wearing meat suits…and toss the OF Directors in there too.

We have a squad of 20. 5 players with actual covid and 9 players seen as close contacts so they are in isolation until Tomorrow. So that gives us 6 players who've been able to train this week and 9 players who'll have to play having just came out of isolation the day before. That's obviously assuming there's no injuries or any further covid positives(I don't know which days they test)
