  1. Claudio Ranieri at Leicester would fit the remit quite well.
  2. So, no space here for 'Saints and Greavsie' patter then?
  3. I was at that game with my dad. Only time we ever went to the football together. We are almost certainly in the picture. England goal greeted with absolute silence around us and a sizeable number didn't even know they had scored. I only saw it because I was on my dad's shoulders at the time. No scoreboards anywhere, at least none visible from our position. I remember some bloke in front of me at half time saying we were doing alright but nil-nil probably fair. Him and several others couldn't be persuaded we were losing 1-0 - nearly kicked off a brawl.
  4. So the concussion substitution rule only applies if someone develops an unusual heart rhythm mid-game in addition to possible concussion? Who knew?
  5. Yeh, but if weekend games are played on a Saturday (which they mostly are) and you have a midweek game, then you have 3 games in 8 days and 5 free days. So neither Tuesday or Wednesday is perfect. If the Saturday games both start at 3.00 pm then the midweek game should kick off at 3.00 am on the Wednesday for parity. 7.45 pm on the Tuesday is 7 and a quarter hours too early, but 7.45 pm on the Wednesday is 16 and three quarter hours too late.
  6. Was it Hibs, way back in 2020-2021? Depends how you define "strikers".
  7. Why would we copy you lot, ffs? Surely our ambitions are higher than a top 6 finish, a Scottish cup win and a League cup win?
  8. A good point about eras, but another way to look at it is to ask how good they were relative to the other teams in the league in a particular season. By that criterion, the 79-80 Jim Clunie side (built on Fergie's furies plus Doug Somner) is the best St Mirren team of my lifetime. Genuine title contenders in March and Anglo-Scottish cup winners against some quality opponents and Sam Allardyce.
  9. Indeed he did. For those of us in the Tudor Arms that hadn't finished our pints when Toshie's bus was leaving.
  10. Clearly I'm no Fergie - If we ever win two cups in a season, RG, I'll be quite happy to "stagnate" for the next season or two.
  11. Yes we did. And it was exactly the same the season before, if I remember rightly, before the shut down. Hopefully next season we'll go in with some deeper options at the back. We had a good defensive record last year but we always seemed to be one injury/suspension away from calamity.
  12. Not quite. But with only a slight alteration it becomes a passable Haiku: Totally hopeless No wonder we are going down All week? Full time fuds.
  13. If only more posts started in a similar vein. I have a picture in my mind of you discovering it in the inside pocket of a tweed jacket that was lurking at the back of a wardrobe.
  14. In a week that has not been the best for Hearts, fair play to one of their fans on the "Hearts juggernaut" thread. They are taking solace from that fact that it was the performances of the goalkeeper they lent us, when our three were unable to play for three games, that "relegated' us to the bottom 6.
  15. Fair play. Can you point me in the direction of the "resilience " training packages that your organisation uses?
  16. Given that we will be celebrating having won a cup semi final on the weekend previously?
  17. I think this is, arguably, the most gutting thing about the late Hamilton equaliser on Saturday. On the other hand, it does keep the season interesting for us.
  18. Good to see Mason back on the bench. We are very light on options at the back if we pick up any injuries or suspensions.
  19. Indeed, There is a nice symmetry, given their respective financial "advantages", that Manchester City are going for a quadruple in England and Europe whilst Rangers do the same, at a rather more modest level, In Scotland and Europe (lite). Wait.............
  20. I'd like to say that then we could "rest" our players against Hamilton for the cup tie at the same place a couple of weeks later. Except, I don't think we've got anyone else much to bring in. We could play Lyness, Finlayson and the two kids. Maybe just go with our subs on Saturday and play 9.
  21. Yep. If they win 2 and we lose 1 then we are, at best, level on GD and almost certainly they will have scored more. Shame they got the late equaliser as we may need to win the last game at Hamilton, but it is entirely in our own hands now even if, as expected, we lose on Saturday.
  22. Between 5th December and last Saturday, we played 21 games. That's 21 games in 85 days or almost exactly one game every 4 days. From yesterday until the first post split fixture on 17th April, we have 2 games scheduled. That's one game every 24 days. Have we decided on a spring break rather than a winter break this season?
  23. Dundee Utd have also got Celtic at home, but not sure that will alter too much. Maybe a draw?
