  1. Great signing for a club at this level. Always impressed. Very surprised to hear Talbot letting him go. What age is he, as in the past Tucker doesn’t seem to have got many wrong when he lets go.
  2. The money would be from the SFA not the BBC though as the TV money is the deal already agreed years ago and then the payment is based on what round the game is. So it’s really SFA who I assume decide if we get the money for that round Highlights on BBC now. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/av/football/62942062
  3. If (and it’s a big if) one of the main reasons football was cancelled was down to policing resources, you would assume that will no longer be an issue come the weekend in Scotland. And if that the case, it’s hard to justify any reason football should be called off.
  4. Pretty much one year ago we played Talbot (infamous 8 men game) That day the weather was shocking and pretty much a crowd of 1k was packed under the main stand. Great atmosphere, comfortable, safe. Fast forward 12 months and the full ground isn’t deemed safe to hold that ! Feel sorry for those on the committee who have worked hard to get our license, fans who help raise funds to contribute towards the floodlights only for complete inconsistency across councils on what is deemed safe. I would guess there was more allowed behind the goals at the ‘away’ end for Talbot v Hearts than is now allowed under our enclosure.
  5. Spot on. The slab of the main stand that I haved watched the game with for 35+ years is now classed as no safe ! Bonkers. but gives the council something to do as nothing else to occupy them just now….
  6. Not disputing that, just pointing out that there is an exit at Talbot that is single file through a set of turnstiles Pollok have the double gate next to the turnstiles and the large double gate at the side of Loks, so at least on par with most teams around the leagues
  7. And there lies the problem! Pollok capacity set by a council who would access the safety of some of the biggest grounds in the country and have a standard they set that will be different to many local councils With regards exists - we have two large gates that are available plus the members gate. That is probably more than most Talbot one exit is via the turnstiles so single file. But allowed 3k at Scottish cup v Hearts. i believe the main restrictions are around safe standing around the ground, which would be no worse than any other grounds that I would visit that are not in GCC. For all those that are frustrated by it, I am pretty certain they are not as frustrated as those who now need to arrange ticketing and limited finances as a result.
  8. Not really it’s 10% of capacity. If you were to look at senior games I would suspect 10% is around most away teams allocation
  9. You must have at least 10 fingers on each hand if that’s the number you are getting to.
  10. Danny McKenzie was hugely important to how we played this season. He got injured in the cup at Clydebank in early February and hardly kicked a ball since. Our results from then show the importance of him to our side. Took us until end of April to realize we needed to change formation to cope without him.
  11. If you need a piss there is spanking new toilets for you to visit - male, female and accessible toilets !! In terms of where Pollok are now, I agree, we have an excellent ground for this level. And arguably the next few tiers too. Toilet and disable access faculties suitable for the crowd size we get. A main stand, that while could do with some paint, is one of the things that make Newlandsfield the great ground it is. Last night v Bankies was a prime example. Packed of fans cheering on their team, generating a great atmosphere with around 500 under the enclosure. Even going back to the 3-3 draw with Talbot when it was monsoon weather, and everyone was packed in the stand in a game with 1000 attendance - again the atmosphere that day was as good as I have seen at this level. In addition the whole way around the ground the standing areas allow good vantage points - not always the case for many clubs where it’s not tiered Additional covered space IMO isn’t really needed due to the size of the stand we have, and seating would be nice to have at the moment. I look at the grounds with seats in them and rarely do I see them half full.
  12. You need to go into ‘tweets and replies’ not just tweets as they post them as if it’s a message to Darvel as they start with their @ rather than a general post.
  13. The starting point to get to a 16 team league is the Premiership. Not a chance those clubs vote for 4 more teams in the league to reduce the times they play Glasgow teams. Tier 5 already has two divisions, lowland and highland, so a 3rd one, even with two promotions would still mean a league winner didn’t progress. Unfortunately the voting process in Scottish football makes progressive change impossible, as seen in the various solutions presented by clubs when the league was stopped in March ‘20 and the fall out after that (and let’s not forget the shambolic voting process that was experienced then)
  14. Fair play to Kilwinning for announcing the money they got. Sets the going rate the next time they try it with another club. No doubt the chicken man will be on claiming they missed the decimal point and it was only £120.00
  15. Cos he knows what goes on at every club as players tell him what they have been offered at these clubs, nothing to do with negotiation just them being dead honest with him but don’t dare mention what goes on at his club as it’s all lies ! If you want a job, just tell him Nandos are offering you £90k a year as the best piri piri chicken maker in the west, but you haven’t wanted to make chicken for anyone other than his company so willing to accept £75k a year.
  16. Not a clue about Pollok and how it’s ran. Anyway, at least this season your ‘big team’ Airdrie might win something, that will be nice for you.
  17. I am sure he played left Mid / Left wing v Pollok a few weeks ago. Did ok, don’t recall anything special from him in that game. Seemed strange seeing a Lovering playing and not in at Centre Half, kicking people!.
  18. Darvel are a good footballing side, probably the best we have faced and would expect them to win most games, however agree the backlog of fixtures may catch up. But that could also happen to Talbot too.
  19. No doubt we are now 3rd favorites now. However we can take positives from the weekend where we outplayed one of the best sides in the league for long periods. IMO playing Darvel suits us more than Talbot. Darvel try and play a lot of football, and we have lots of energy in our side so pressure them well and Nick balls high up the park. Playing Talbot is very different as, they play a more direct game (not a dig) ball up to Wilson and play off him, so when you get the ball back you have 70 yards to Talbot goal. We have 9 games left, 6 at Newlandsfield. Therefore we can still potentially put a decent points tally together and see what happens. I am sure Talbot fans don’t need reminders that a few years ago two game to play one win needed and you picked up 1 point. 10 years or so a we needed a win v a Still drunk Talbot team (after winning the Scottish) to win the league and we know what happened. So agree lots can happen still.
  20. Did the pitch hold up well ? If happy that the ball doesn’t bounce, and looked liked tractors had been driven over it, then yes it held up.
