  1. I just don't see why he would sign for Partick Thistle over us. Yes, they will be in the SPL next year, but eh, it's only Partick. Reminds me of last season when St Mirren were linking themselves with El Alagui. Like I said, a sideways step. He also won't want to have competition for his place...he will want to be the stand-out first choice pick. Ironically, St Mirren might not be a bad shout if McGovern is going to be a guaranteed starter there.
  2. As above, win-win for us today really. Personally I'd see relegation as a fair punishment for their financial cheatery over the years, so I'm routing for that. Might go along to EEP today (in the Forfar end obviously) ETA: 10/1 to stay in the division. Put a £ on
  3. Amazing to think 10 years ago today was the last game at Brockville, I remember it as if it was yesterday. That season was the first that my Dad started taking me to games. The first thing I do when I win the lottery is buying that site back off Morrisons and rebuilding the old bitch. Re Dods - As above, would easily do a job in the second division Re Smith - As above, is absolutely not being kept on as he is rank
  4. I'd also wonder how much revenue the club have lost from postponements due to weather in recent seasons. Hospitality refunds, less home and away fans, even stuff like having to chuck out the pies all adds up. A couple of seasons ago when we went 6 or 7 weeks without playing the club had some pretty serious cash flow problems.
  5. Given that the current pitch is totally knackered and probably needs relaying anyway, just an unavoidable expense either way IMO. I'd guess somewhere between £500K-£700K.
  6. With everyone signed/those I want us to sign we should have a squad something like this for next season: GK: McGovern Bowman/young keeper FB: Duffie Rowan Kingsley Dick CB: Neilson Flynn Vaulks Turnbull McGeever CM: Murdoch Flannigan J Fulton McGrandles D Fulton Faulds LM/RM Grant Alston Leahy Sibbald Weatherston (only on a pay-as-you-play type deal) ST: Taylor Higgins Small Looking at that, I'd say we need: - An experienced center half (as well as Neilson) - An experienced ball winning midfielder (Is Flannigan the answer?) - A striker. - Possibly a playmaker (ie Higginbotham), licensed to go wherever he wants and link the play between the midfield and striker(s). Though I can easily see Grant/Alston/Leahy in that role next season If we can keep the above players together for next season, and add in a few, I think we could have a really decent squad.
  7. On a more serious note I'd like to see McGovern, Vaulks (I doubt he will still be playing for free), Murdoch and Higgins (with a proper pre-season under his belt could be a useful player for us next season) offered new contracts. Neilson to replace Dods as the experienced center half/captain next season. Flannigan, no idea. Tbh I'd rather we used his wage to strengthen in other areas of the park.
  8. Still made more sense than anything Yogi ever said
  9. Apologies if this has already been mentioned elsewhere http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/21970140
  10. I'm not buying the 'Dunfermline have an interest in being relegated next season' theory. Sevco would bring a total of about 11K fans to the two games (saying they average £15 each admission fee) thats £165K. Plus a pittance of TV money. Sevco would win the league, meaning Dunfermline would be in the playoffs, with no guarantee of winning them (anything can happen in 90 minutes of football). They would still get decent crowds against Falkirk and Raith next season in the first division, and Id imagine higher home crowds. Look at what has happened to Clyde. It's a slippery slope outside the first division. Ross County and Partick went down and became stronger, and Id imagine QotS are about to do the same. None of the above had a team in their division massively outspending any other club at that time though. If Dunfermline were relegated as a result of a points deduction they would not be the big fish in the small pond next season.
  11. Kasper Schmeichel, Paddy Cregg, Steven Thomson, Ryan Flynn
  12. They only brought 600 odd to us a few weeks ago. Cleaver marketing ploy by Raith Rovers IMO
  13. I blame the Daily Record. Awful *** rag of a paper. How dare they print quotes of someone who has quite clearly lost his marbles. Smith is on his way out of Falkirk and I'd imagine Scottish football soon (as previously mentioned he is 74). Until he goes I will judge his performances on the park and if we win the Scottish Cup he can say whatever he likes. I wouldn't even care if he was having an affair with Sammy the Tammy
  14. Silly, silly boy. I know folk that live on that road too
  15. Farid always came over at the end of the game to thank the fans personally. That coupled with the fact that FARID FARID FARID was easy to chant probably meant he developed a bond with the fans more quickly. I have enjoyed watching Taylor immensely this season though and we desperately need a proper chant for the lad - he deserves a good move down south too. Hopefully we can get some decent cash for him
  16. I was being sarcastic...I know there is very little chance of any of that money being spent on players, we might bring in one (Neilson) Might mean we dont have to sell anyone in the summer though, and will actually be in a position to turn down sub-standard offers for our players
  17. Probably a fifer on the wind up. Robbie Neilson, an experienced midfielder and a striker would be nice though Or put a new contract on the table for Sir Lyle of Taylor
  18. 75K is far too much for their shower of diddies Great news, if Bradford could just forward us a slice of their League Cup Final cheque that would be magic
  19. Neilson would be a great signing, him and McGeever should be the first choice at CB. Flynn as back up. I just don't see the point in playing Dods when he won't be here next season.
  20. I'm sure Leahy was on the bench a few weeks ago. He was totally out of his depth at Raith Rovers (despite scoring the goal) the last time I saw him play. Definitely a player for next season. I see the Hamilton game is all ticket. 2,200 behind the goal plus 500 in the gazibo should be enough to house the mass Bairns support
  21. Hopefully we can get some decent cash for him in the summer/next January and Pressley can pull another top quality striker out the hat then
  22. I'm happy our game won't be on TV. It means it will be on a Saturday. With a 3:00pm kick off. Fans that want to see the game will actually have to get off their armchairs and come along to the ground to watch it. You can stick your £80K up your arse.
