  1. Having a look at the players still available, either on loan or on frees and surprisingly for this time of the season there are still some decent players without clubs or signed up on season long loans. I appreciate McCabe only wants to sign players who fit into/compliments our style of play, however there isn't an endless list of players who will remain available. A couple of injuries and/or suspensions and we are beyond stretched. I'm not suggesting we sign all of them, just highlighting there are still players available that would strengthen the team/squad Ross Stewart - Keeper freed from Hearts, would provide some much needed cover for Rae Dylan McGowan - Experienced Centre Half who has experience playing in this division with Killie & Hamilton Euan East - Versatile Centre Half/Left Back/Striker who has experience playing in this division Dan O'Reilly - Played very well in the play off final Brody Patterson - Played well for us previously Connor Smith - Not the first to highlight him, would more than do us a turn David Wotherspoon - Provide some strength to the CM position, would free up McCabe to provide back up in defence if/when needed Lewis Jamieson - Having played last season, he knows and fits into our style and offers another goal threat.
  2. Its an exciting time to be Airdrie fan, and unlike previous years its nice to be in a position to be talking about players we can take from other clubs as opposed to worrying about losing our best players to clubs in higher divisions. With this in mind, players worth considering from League 1 clubs who those clubs won't want to lose and may be keen to test themselves at a higher level. Stanger(CH) & Church(LB) from Alloa Callumn Morrison from Falkirk John Robertson from Edinburgh As has been suggested by others, Connor Smith and to a lesser extent Daniel O'Reilly were impressive in the 2 games v Hamilton. Although not a old fashioned dominant centre half, O'Reilly looked solid and with him being left sided, appears an ideal partner for Fordyce Interesting to see Brody Patterson has been freed from Hartlepool today. Would love to see Kyle Turner back also, but suspect he may have higher ambitions Those added to some experienced old heads and we can look forward to holding our own in the Championship.
  3. First Team Charlie Telfer - Knows the league after a couple of seasons at Falkirk. Kyle Turner - Probably more in hope than expectation. As has been suggested above, not first choice at Partick last season, might be worth asking Partick the question. Leon McCann - Again more in hope than expectation, interesting to note that last season didn't go as well as either he or Falkirk hoped and that Falkirk have just signed Sean Mackie as first choice left back. Squad Fillers Couple of highly rated young players who may be worth a look as squad fillers, potentially pushing for first choice Kyle Docherty (20) - 6ft 2 striker from Albion Rovers. Apparently on trial at Partick Thistle, and last season was on trial at QPR and Sunderland. George Stanger (21) - Centre half who scored against us last season for Dumbarton, highly rated by them but knocked back a deal to stay. Wouldn't have minded signing Aaron Dunsmore as a back up, but see he has signed for Stirling. Loan Deals Left back seems to be a problem area, here's hoping Brody Paterson doesn't secure a deal at Raith. If he does, then I'd be tempted to ask Raith to loan their current left back (Liam Dick) to us. Failing that Mathew Anderson is the highly rated Celtic B team left back. Leon King from Rangers is another who needs regular first team football that he doesn't appear ready to command at Ibrox (yet). Very highly rated, a season at a footballing side in League 1 as opposed to the Lowland League would surely suit both parties. Scott McGill - We know exactly what we are getting, last season's deal worked for both parties, another loan deal for an ever improving player would do similar I'm sure there are a few other diamonds in the rough floating around that we haven't thought of - a la Josh Kerr from a couple of years ago, Scott McGill, Kerr McInroy and Adam Frizzell from last season
  4. Stewart Petrie has done a terrific job at Montrose, punched way their weight in the past few seasons and managed to install a loyalty from a decent group of players. Knows the league very well and I would expect he would see us as a step up from his current abode.
  5. I am completely confused by what is alleged to have happened here. In no way do I justify/condone any racist chant/comment particularly if aimed at one of our own players (that's not to suggest that it being aimed at an opposition player is acceptable). However, by the same token I'm not going to attack/condemn the board or a fellow fan(s) when there is a lack of information that justifies that condemnation. It would appear that the parent of a player has overheard a racist comment re Rico. Has this racist comment been made in a private conversation between 2 or a group of supporters or has it been aimed at Rico specifically when he would have been close enough to hear the comment (regardless of whether Rico heard the comment or otherwise). If the comment was challenged by said parent, what was the outcome of the challenge, was there a denial/apology or was it met with aggression? The conversation here seems to be going round in circles. Does anyone know the facts (and all I am interested in is the facts) so that we as a fanbase can make up our own minds on whether we believe the facts justify the club banning a fan (or is it a group of fans) from supporting the club. If Rico, his brother or agent feel the club have let him down on this investigation then they should go to the police to allow the matter to be fully investigated. It is disappointing that it appears trial by social media appears to be the fall back position here.
  6. I suspect it is Callumn Morrison fron Falkirk. He was on loan to East Fife whilst a Hearts player but the move to Falkirk hasn't been anywhere near as successful as everyone it would be. He signed a 1 year contract at Falkirk with a 1 year option, with a clause that stated Falkirk could only exercise the option if they were promoted. Disappointed that Scott Brown from Peterhead has re-signed as he would have been another terrific signing.
  7. A thought just occured to me reading the Leggoland article. If Greene refuses to sell at a reasonable price, what is to stop Wattie & Co from doing an Airdrie and buying another club, (Cowdenbeath spring to mind given them being homeless shortly and in Div 1.) They rename them Glasgow Rangers, and arrange to hire Hampden until they manage to conclude a deal with Green. This will greatly improve the strength of their position, given the fans will follow and buy season tickets to Glasgow Rangers rather than The Rangers. Personally, I hope Rangers have to go through the scenario of having to apply to get the spare spot in the 3rd Div and starting again. I actually think it could be good for Scottish football. Rangers glory hunter fans decide to look at other clubs to support, the clubs they have a wee soft spot for. Young Scottish players given their chance at Rangers, supporters of the other SPL clubs flock back to support their team as they will now be fighting for 2nd place. I fera this has some way to run howeve
  8. It will be the job of the liquidator to recover as much funds as possible to pay the creditors of Rangers. They will do this by selling the existing assets for the highest price and also by recovering any existing debts owed to Rangers, so I'm afraid Everton will still have to pay. The liquidators may put a proposal to Everton to reduce the total owed if they pay a lump sum rather than the agreed instalments they may have at present. No-one that owed Rangers money will be able to walk away without paying tho (unless they too are in administration/liquidation)
  9. This may have been covered already, apologies if so. The thing that springs to mind more than anything is the pressure that may come from the creditors of the clubs voting. I have no doubt there will have been phone calls made by the major creditors of these clubs. A very dangerous precedent will be set if a newco is allowed back into the SPL. This will send out the signal for all clubs with major debt to follow the same route as Rangers. The banks/major creditors will be well aware of this, and I would be surprised if they don't take steps to safeguard outstanding monies owed to them.
