Few drams from Saturday night… Glenlivet 16 the pick of the bunch. It had everything you’d expect from a cask strength 1st fill Oloroso, a complete sherry bomb and one I’ll likely be returning to try again next time in the Bon Accord.
Signatory’s (M)acallan 18 was nice, but felt something was missing. It was a dram where you’re happy to have one but wouldn’t have another. Very intense sherry flavour but almost pushing up to too intense for me. I tried their 17YO Macallan which was released earlier this year at £100 less a bottle and it was far better.
The Springbank was a belter and was the first time I’ve had a peated dram matured in Palo Cortado. Very subtle peat and a great texture to it. It’s selling for silly prices on auction now.
