Speaking of aces, I remember the closest I ever came to one. Par 3 3rd at Greencastle Golf Club, co. Donegal. I sent my wedge straight right and I had a strong feeling it was out of bounds. So, as you do, I hit my provisional incase I ended up going up and not finding my original ball. My provisional was hit sweet and right in line with the hole...and yes, you guessed it, it went in. So, I have managed to take a ball, put it on the tee and hit it into a tiny, tiny hole in one shot, but it could only go down as a par on the scorecard. Best par I've ever had, mind.

Handicap has been sorted and I'm pleased to announce I now play off 10. Only down side is I have to give my old man 5 strokes. Off to the driving range later to try out some new drivers. Any recommendations for a player who just wants to be consistent off the tee?
