  1. It sounds like a great business model and no doubt a lot of hard work has been done, but it all seems quite soulless and the antithesis of what football is all about.
  2. The worst performer for Killie tonight was the idiot fan who threw the flare onto the park and delayed the restart, ruining any chance of building momentum after that point. Throbber.
  3. He signed what appeared to be a very lucrative contract at Darvel. Did he just walk away from that to earn less at another club? He's not going to lose out financially from this.
  4. How are Gartcairn able to afford Ian McShane? He was on a fair whack at Darvel and it's not unfair to say he will be on a similar amount at Gartcairn. So without a sizeable fan base, how are they managing it?
  5. I was disappointed as I didn't think there was a lot in the match but in saying that, I don't think we had any clear cut opportunities and your goalkeeper didn't have a lot to do. I think there was a difference in composure between the sides - your defenders were a bit calmer on the ball and you won must of the second balls with good positioning and movement. But we competed well and considering our last season was a total disaster it was very encouraging to see us compete against a side about 35 places above us in the pyramid. By the way - the goal was a fantastic finish - I'm not sure how well you saw it but I was right behind it and the striker curled it from outside the post just inside at the last moment. It was perfect but very deflating from our point of view, especially at that point in the match.
  6. There's a fair bit of parking either side of the stadium as the ground is within a community sports club. There is also an overflow car park. I'm not sure if there are any other amateur matches on at the same time but if you are here in plenty of time you should be able to get parked no problem.
  7. Theoretically is there anything to stop any existing West of Scotland SPFL clubs applying for membership of the WOSFL and entering this competition? Do you need to be playing in one of the WOS leagues to be a member?
  8. I've never seen Buffs win against Clydebank at home so no wonder you've had a good experience!!
  9. I think it's only Tennents as far as I can recall, although it's always been decent (as Tennents goes).
  10. I was having a look at the 10 wins in a row and it wasn't adding up for me on the WOSFL website. I think there is a Scottish cup win in there as well but that draw against Shotts surely can't be 11 matches ago?
  11. Might be, hence the question mark. Thanks for clarifying.
  12. Maybe Beith are quite happy with the current situation re floodlights and licencing? No licence = no promotion and things in the WOSFL remain as they are. If they are then they won't be the only ones.
  13. That might just shift the problem to another time though. It really shouldn't be up to individual clubs to try and appeal to the League or to other clubs for a match.
  14. I don't blame Kennie as I think he does a very good job with the fixtures and is just putting into practice what clubs have agreed. I do wonder what the opinion of other clubs who don't participate in this tournament is, e.g. Pollok, Clydebank, Renfrew etc. It's clear Kilwinning aren't happy with the situation as we've made active efforts to get a match on. It's at the stage where we are starting to build some momentum and it's potentially being derailed as we've to sit idle. I'm not belittling the popularity of the tournament or its significance to some, but as an optional extra the Junior Cup should be the lowest priority and the SJFA should just be advised to slot matches in as and when they can, not given prime time Saturdays throughout the year to the detriment of the leagues.
  15. "MATCH INFO: Despite requests for a fixture on Saturday 7th of October, The Buffs will sit idle due to The Scottish Junior Cup taking place. Our next match takes place on Saturday 14th of October as we face East of Scotland side Hawick Royal Albert in The South Challenge Cup." Losing out on a Saturday match due to others participating in a voluntary cup competition. I get that it's important to a lot of teams and that the WOSFL agreed to accommodate the junior cup and set aside certain dates for it to take place but how did it come to a situation where it takes priority over a league match?
  16. It was a hovel though and further from the train station than the present one. The new one may not have the character and history but it's fine and much more modern. You will be able to get a drink at the bar within the ground and should hopefully have a good day out. The Lemon Tree is still there in the town centre. We drew Forfar at home in last season's competition and I got the distinct impression from sitting next to them that their committee were looking down their noses at the ground and at our level of football in general. Hopefully you guys will enjoy your visit to a ground which is only 4/5 years old and is still in development.
  17. I think that's to be expected, most of the bigger teams at WOS and LL level are in the Scottish Cup so the South Challenge Cup is probably the third most important competition at this level after the SC and league. Maybe when teams get to the last 16 or quarters it might gather momentum.
  18. We (Kilwinning) actually started the season ok but went on a bad run and we completely lost confidence and I think other teams could sense it, we started to panic when we lost goals and couldn't work out how to gain control of a match. I'm not saying the same will happen to you - I still think Sloan will turn the team into a good one eventually but sometimes losing becomes a habit and there is absolutely no mercy in the premier league.
  19. I don't mind Kennedy at all but I think he's finding offence where there's none to be had. It's no secret that apart from the Aberdeen match, Darvel in the last two seasons have underachieved given the money spent and for all their good football they've not scored when it counted.
  20. You've came to the wrong forum mate! This is the West of Scotland league! Everything's the referees fault! Nobody else needs to accept responsibility for anything!
  21. He does flatter to deceive though. There's a reason he's had 4 or 5 clubs at this level.
  22. Was going to guess Craig Slater but he's not a right winger and has had various clubs in-between.
  23. It was a well deserved win and good to finally get 3 points. I still don't think we will be anywhere near the top of the league at the end of the season but the Shotts/Rutherglen and Petershill/Johnstone results last night just show that every team will drop points. It was a good travelling support last night and the cheers at the end showed how much of a relief the result was. We still lack a fair bit of cohesion in the team, especially up front. Hopefully Mackin and Boyd develop a good understanding of each other soon as they are still on different wavelengths. I haven't been to Dam Park since playing some boys club finals there in the 1990s but I fair enjoyed the experience.
  24. Was he not the one whose dad came onto the forum to defend him after he retired from Troon and made an immediate comeback with Talbot?
