I fell asleep last night and only just remembered there, checked and saw the draw had been made and that they had won. Fair play to them, the tie is also a winnable one for them too so fingers crossed they make the final. The Crown Jewel is probably my favourite Indian, it flies under the radar a bit but when I moved down Coatbridge way I tried it out. Bit pricier but unreal. Shimla is unreal value for money, 4 of us used to go so one would get a naan with main and other rice and we would half it so you were literally getting a full main meal.

If anyone ever is having a bad day go and read the reviews on trip advisor for Shimla Cottage. I used to go every Friday when I was at Coatbridge College and would have 3 courses for £3.50. It was delightful.

In November at my old work I requested 5 days off, which was denied, 1 day into the 5 days that were denied I asked the manager again for the rest of the week off on holiday as it was evident I'd do nothing as the client didn't have stuff ready, he denied and I threw a sicky the rest of the week with no consequences.

Was quite routine for folk to be off with stress in our office as well, expected as part of the job. Pretty mental when you look at it.

Can only second what is said here. I was on a training course one week which is clearly scheduled in our diaries and some of the folk in our class were doing getting hounded to do tasks for managers despite clearly being booked elsewhere, and they thought it would bode well for them to do the work rather than pushing back. One guy in my previous office did 600 hours unpaid overtime from January to November of last year to make manager which is a grand total of 4k payrise. Some folk brag about the hours they work like it is a personality trait, one guy in the office got asked if things were okay at home from his manager as he ONLY did 140 hours unpaid overtime. Get in the bin.

We had a system called gems where you got £5 worth a month and folk can award you them, loads of folk in my intake bragging about the amount of gems they had been awarded but when you actually worked it out for all the unpaid overtime they did they were being shafted big time. Majority of my intake were all private educated wanks with no sense of reality, some genuinely believed the work they were doing was meaningful and impacted society.

Yeah it was one of the big 4 accounting firms, when I left I spoke to a recruiter from another firm who used to do resourcing for them. He said that their target is to have you 135% utilised and they used to try discipline folk who weren't 135% utilised. Bare in mind that anything over 100% is completely voluntary from the staff. Some of the folk are kiss arses and will knock their pans in, one guy pulled a weekend finishing at 5am on Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning all unpaid overtime only to be passed up for a managers job .
