  1. ...and nd then you get Hibs,Hearts, Aberdeen all doing the same. It only serves the Old Firm and their own agenda. It's a completely self-serving exercise in how much the old firm actually run the game in this country.
Perpetually blind chairman of first and second division clubs will vote for this for the short-term gain of a few quid. Stuff the lowland league or ex-junior teams & their supporters.
Another thing to consider is that some of these clubs will be forced to pay more for policing when Rangers or Celtic reserves turn up on a weekend or worse a Friday night nullifying any short term profit.
Would be kind of cute though, if this move led to Brechin finally getting cut loose.

  2. I agree that chopping & changing is fine and dandy from our sitting rooms, however if there is this comfortable malaise that we are all doing fine and just meandering along this club will find itself out of senior football for good. There has to be ambition, there must be a clear plan from the board surely. Yanos record is not good. And the board are there to hold that record to account. It's not a personal thing. Its a football thing. This year is probably going to get written off due to the hellish circumstances we are all under. Frankly, sometimes, there's more than sport. But if it does carry on the squad should be improved, the points above are more than valid. So far, some of the loans in and out are a bit baffling. Some of the results have been unfortunate with red cards and injuries. But some have been dire.
Feels like we were here last year. Plenty of huff and puff but no cigar. On and off the park.

  3. Dismal stuff. We could and should have been five or six down at half time. Don't think we mustered a shot until the second half, and then they had taken a lazy foot off the gas. I have to agree we aren't good on our own patch. Seem to be more organized and able to play on the plastic. Do we train on grass at all? The passing and even tackling is soft and usually comes up short. But our shape and lack of bottle is evident. Not sure if there was a few had been on the pudding bit it was a poor show all over the park. Ok so Stirling are a decent side but a cup tie at home, at least show some spirit and have a go. Personally, I don't see progress. Just a side going through the motions.

  4. As a tuppence worth, I reckon we have an issue playing Calum alongside Lewis. Wright in behind would be a better bet. Maybe a bit of competition would benefit them both. We miss Sinclair,Foster,Barr & Cook but that's how it is. What is very worrying is they seem to all have a real lack of confidence. Yano just doesn't inspire. We have had time to claw back games only a goal down but the some of the passing, tackling and urgency or lack of just doesn't come and our heads drop. There is no terrier or in your face player like other clubs seem to have. We have been beaten by some pretty poor & average sides so what does that say about us.
Started positively but now we are really off the pace. Be great to get a result v Kelty but realistically that's a big ask.

  5. Well, shortly we will be gone from this forum. Probably not to return for some time. Another thing to add to the list of things we won't get due to the malignant stagnation of our club. I really don't believe the board have the wherewithal to comprehend where they have taken us. Why oh why did they let Harvey sink the boat. Perhaps we are all guilt in some respects. Maybe we should have collectively taken more direct action at games, trust meetings, even upstairs after matches. But you don't do you. You think someone will see we heading into a cliff and will pull the parachute. But here we are. The nuclear scenario is upon us. A club with 2 league titles on the wall. Maybe see you in the Cup forum, or in LL 2020.
    Well done Lenny & Co.

  6. Megginson misses the second leg with injury, Berwick surprise everyone and win four nil after a few Cove red cards. Berwick win on penalties. Cove claim the SFA are against them.
If you are the son of Pele, and you wouldn't be the first to claim so, perhaps you would like a job up top for us next Saturday!? Your optimism alone shines through and gives me more confidence than the current mediocrity on display.

  7. Apparently I was picked out as wishing for magic beans or something as equally patronising for wanting investment in the club.

I wouldn’t mind, but I think I started saying it on here a couple of years ago after that shite season and have mentioned it directly to him in front of others twice in the last few months. I don’t think I ever gave the impression, here or face to face that it was easy to attract, but always that the club should be putting themselves in the best position possible to make them open for investment. I’d even talked about the sale of shares being an option to make it more attractive to someone. It’s not ‘magic beans’ when potential investors have been put off in the past.

I think the answer at the forum was something like only looking for investment in facilities, a signal to me that he sees the ownership and him as chairman as settled and long term. The strategy (asking the fans what they want as a start) seems to be out of the window. Investment in the team would have, or could help things to snowball. Get people interested again. It’s amazing we have any fans left, never mind as many as 400-500 through the gates. More that some far more successful clubs than us.

Anyway, ignoring all of that and I think I’ve said my piece enough about the reasons for the decline and the utter shambles of the directors who played a huge part in this with their failed coup last year. If you were to write a book on the decline of Berwick Rangers, you could probably dedicate a chapter or ten to this Harvey debacle.

I have a little sympathy in the appointment as it was a poor time to be looking for a manager, though some experience might have been better. However surely the warning signs were there. From ditching our better players to ruining our reputation as a reliable club to send loan players to. He could have gone any time post Queens Park 7-1. At crucial points the opportunity was missed, probably complacently looking to next season rather than this.

We now look done, with a manager so far out of his depth it’s unbelievable, who doesn’t seem to have any contacts in the senior game and who has burnt his bridges with Premier League clubs he should have been keeping sweet for loan players. The interviews after Annan and Queens Park were embarrassing and brought him to national attention as a bit of a clown. And we have a board who themselves have little football knowledge and contacts going on like nothing is happening, unless the new chairman has been the focus of an internet post of course and paranoia and bizarre spin ensues.

I know being involved in a football club at this level is an unenviable task, and the easiest thing in the world is to point at faults and blame people. I have some sympathy. But if what we’re getting is pointing the finger back at fans and accusing people of troublemaking, as Dale says, over a failure to learn the lessons then I don’t know where we go.
    Absolutely bang on mate
