  1. Absolute sh#tshow. No one at board level has a clue.
The reputation of the club is in the mire and any credibility the club used to have heading down the pan faster than the holy island tide.
Players leaving because the lift went, players needed but not being sourced, players unable to score against anyone, red cards and suspensions looming, but still the club is ‘rebuilding’.
I am very, very concerned. Supporters club members claiming the season is over after ten games. What about the rest of the league season? What exactly is going to entice fans to attend with that attitude? All the off field stuff is very well but the idea is you score goals and give the paying public something to watch. The on field activity is what it’s meant to be about.
    Happy hour? My arse.

  2. Forgive my ignorance but didn’t we resign players only to let them go a month back citing we are ‘skint’ ? Now we are back resigning more players in the lofty position of 14th in the league. Good as Nelson is I just don’t get what’s going on

Due to the current financial constraints of Berwick, it MAY be due to fact that the club cannot give the post to any external candidate.

One wonders why the club is in such financial trouble. I know from earlier reading, that Berwick have backed out of the 3-year plan it had in place.

Has anyone asked the club how it appears to be in debt by so much. Surely if the incoming Chair was aware of this debt (if there at time) he wouldn’t have taken on the role when he did - or he was satisfied that he was in a position to carry on with such a deficit?

That’s why I’m so perplexed at the current nonsense. They gave further extensions to some of those based on potentially wining through(three rounds)in the Scottish cup and/or winning the league. Crazy. We have had one of the biggest budgets in the LL and have blown it. You are right to ask what the new chair was thinking. We are currently without a striker and expected to go accept it as some sort of normal. Mind boggling.

No reason to think the club won't be OK long term. Crowds, sponsorship, general interest in the club is better than nearly everyone else in the Lowland League.

Took a while to get the real info, but (I think!), the 3-year spending spree (i.e. a player budget well above our normal income levels)  was never a gamble with the club's future. Funding was in place, but for it to continue after 3 years, required some sort of on field success that would generate its own extra income.

That bit failed miserably, and now we must revert to a player budget that matches income, rather than exceeding it.

Meanwhile, I understand that Lewis Baker was ill at the weekend and Lewis Allan has some issues that should rightly remain personal and confidential.

And why did it fail? Because the ever changing board were way too ambitious sticking with a mate. The manager stuck with the same inept squad and then everyone blamed everybody else for the same old failings. It isn’t much different to the whole Harvey situation where instead of booting the manager, and his head in sand beliefs, they presided over signing players ( for two years at a time)who are miles from good enough. Nothing personal but the current signing anything under twenty hasn’t worked for Malcolm in the past and it won’t work now. My fear is SM lost the dressing room weeks back. We actually don’t have a senior striker. WTF?

Off field The club may survive but in what shape? Berwick & Tweedmouth Rangers.? We may be watching amateur football sooner than you would wish.

  5. Although it was possibly one of the worst draws we could have got, this is a poor day.

I have had my doubts about Malcom for a while but you are still getting the stick together shite on Facebook. This should be when the board show a bit of mettle and turf him. He really hasn’t got any excuses. They were put on a posh coach had an overnight stay and get battered and bruised by a mid table highland league side. I remember being at Deveronvale a few years back and berating Crease for the disaster that day, he was tossed within days after that one. This should be Malcolm’s final act.

  6. I agree we are a fickle lot however, look at the bigger picture. We are stop start and inconsistent. We are plus one goal difference after playing Edinburgh and Gretna. Can’t seem to see teams off and win home games. We have too many passengers and a boss that doesn’t seem to inspire carpets. My glass is half full.

Despite all the bluster about giving the manager time, we are still a bang average team. That lies squarely at Malcolm’s feet. I agree he plays his favourites. Baker is gash. He found his level last week. We signed too many players in their later years, it shows when we play two game s a week. Although a good player, Barr has a tendency to get lost and wander. Look back and he has always done that. We raise the bar one week then disappoint the next. Cowdenbeath have easily beaten us twice at ours and what has been learned? Nothing it seems.
Watch us beat Hearts and struggle past Gretna.

    Well,I wasn’t far off.

  9. Everyone very quiet. Not a lot on the book of face or X as it’s now known( what the actual…)?
Is a point from nine acceptable, or is it a lifebelt that we may cling to later down the line?

  10. Two games played, nil point.

I don’t quite jolt with SM seething on Saturday. Bluster. He picks and ‘manages’, he can’t wait too late to use subs, then blame them for not getting a draw. I mean a draw? What is he on about. He should have been telling them at half time we have to win! If he thinks this quad, the same rough squad we had last time, can play for draws he is very much mistaken. We are losing to the mid table sides we simply have to beat. Wheel out the excuses as much as you like, we are in for a long shitty season playing this crap. Christ, it’s only game two..

  11. Well the news about O’Connor isn’t good. End of. Hopefully we can go straight out and replace him and add that elusive striker. What is going on though? We seem to get this sort of (bad) luck at the start of every season.

  12. In the words of disgraced ex 70’s pop star it’s good to be back! Or is it?

im struggling to get on board for some reason. Is it the one man two clubs feeling I’m getting? Maybe it’s the over reliance on too many part time shifters from last season. Don’t get the Allan & Baker up top thing at all. Liam won’t stay fit through the schedule we are facing. If he does, it will be a miracle. If the midfield start chipping in then maybe things will work out. But last years on off start and injuries to the old guard meant we were playing catch up. Still not sure SM will take us anywhere. Waking them up in the first ten minutes of an away game would be a start. And looking at the league there are no pushovers. Could be the strongest toughest league yet. I hope come mid September my opinions are wilting with the summer plants.
Lastly where is the publicity for The Legend Dennis’s testimonial? Piss poor for the man who has kept the club onside for years and years. I’m sure without him we would have been sunk years before we were. Blinding bloke.

  13. All of these are perennial arguments that have plagued the club for decades. Put simply we are geographically challenged. Unless the prehistoric A1 gets fully duelled and somehow the current mob get their act together unfortunately the desire to play for Berwick will be unattractive. I can already sense an apathy hovering over us. Recent results and the lack of input on social media is obviously concerning. Most of the folk on here don’t even live in the Berwick area. Worrying times.

  14. Great to get the win. Even better that it is against that lot. Would much rather be on the winning side than another turgid weekend wondering whether the board will sit on their hands a la Johnny Harvey rather than act. But the table doesn’t lie. Ok we are a  few wins away from a much better league position but also we have one win in about seven games. Is this just delaying the inevitable?

I can see us losing to the Rangers B lot heavily, Hearts all over again. However the week later is the game that will define this season. If we carry on in this vein the resurgent Beasts will turn us over at an empty home stadium. And that, would just sum up Malcolm’s tenure.

No surprise today, whatsoever. I won’t be dwelling too much on this one, however the truth is today is another three goal to nil mauling however we played. Fine playing well ( keeping the score to nil is now playing well apparently) but we again miss chances and go home with our head in a basket.
Someone  mentioned on fb some of the players contracts. How on earth have some of these players been given two years? Shouldn’t be happening. Not at this level, without proving what they are about.

  16. Well, the highlights show a team low on quality, low on confidence and the gaping divide between an organised drilled side and a team running on no direction. What Baker and Sabatini are doing is anyones guess. The second half looks like a training  game for Spartans. Piss poor effort. If there was any.

  17. As Morrissey sang; This joke isn’t funny anymore

seriously, Malcolm has had the second biggest budget last season and finished what, twelfth? This season all be it against some big spenders we can’t even beat the students.  We are drifting and the players lack bottle, can’t finish a jigsaw and at times look unfit. Out of the cups to let’s face it, secondary opposition and more comings and goings than Waverley station. Forfar fans said that would happen. All this glass half full nonsense boil’s ma pish. Times up.
