You should stick that in the Pregnancy & Parenting thread, lovely read.

Will probably update that next week, having a party on his birthday next Sunday, as soon as he sleeping tonight I’ll be back in the basement putting the finishing touches on the horrendously built cardboard Yellow Submarine I’ve put together for him, as that was the theme he wanted for his party.

  2. Up at 6am this morning. Drove to Lenzburg, dumped the car, took the train to Zürich with my boy(4 next week) so he could go to a vegan bakery and order every fucking thing he wanted(He is allergic to milk protein and it’s a c**t of a thing to try and explain in a country where “dairy free” doesn’t really exist as a concept). Then went back to Lenzburg and done a tour of the castle, which mostly consisted of him pretending to be a knight and battering the shit out of me with a plastic sword. Got home, done some gardening, had a barbecue and now sitting in the bathroom while he has a bath, listening to him murdering his favourite songs.

    Been a no bad Friday.

I'm busy, so someone else ask about who kept the front garden tidy.

    I need a deputy.

Part of the reason it didn’t work out in the end, I decided the grass was greener elsewhere and went to mow those lawns instead.

Just a wee addition to VG's post.  My situation is almost identical and I have always liked to think I am not materially / consumer driven and that I try hard not to  begrudge those who have been lucky to have been handed a better set of 'life cards'.

However, the one time when I struggled to keep the heid was when my daughter was at uni and she moved into a flat in Edinburgh which had been bought for her pal by her parents, but they were only keeping it for the duration of her course. There were 5 students in this place, I'm positive they didn't apply for an HMO licence, and four of the students were covering the mortgage.

Blood pressure was through the roof for a few days.

Going back around 15 years ago I was seeing an Irish girl who was studying in Glasgow. Her old man bought her a flat that was paid for by renting out the spare rooms to people she studied with. I ended up moving in and paying my fair share. I wasn’t complaining, it was in the city centre, literally a 2 minute walk from my office on Bath St, and I was paying far less than I could have dreamed of if I’d been trying to rent somewhere comparable privately.

As far as I know her youngest brother moved in when she moved out and they repeated the cycle until he graduated and they punted the place.
