  1. Gala Fairydean Rovers / Netherdale blog

Can see where guys are coming from, BUT, it’s the fifth tier of Scottish fitba and if they’ve signed a contract it’s no that simple

He was also assistant to Fox at cowden. Essentially been involved in the worst two L2 sides in recent memory.
  3. Whitehill welfare 2019/20

Slightly better than Arniston the year before....
  4. As I’ve said earlier, at that level of football, the fitness levels of players boils down to more than just the stuff that happens at training. Players need to take a lot of responsibility too.
  5. Relegation Play-offs; Cove v. Berwick

Only just watched the highlights. That’s a shagging if the highest order. Looked like watching a game between a pro team and an amateur team- the sort you sometimes see as a gimmick in pre season. Thoughts: the Berwick players looked miles off it fitness wise- and whatever they do at training, at that level players need to take responsibility for doing their own work too. It showed all over the park. Too slow, too weak and generally no one able to get about the park better than their opposite number. There should not be a gulf that big between two part time teams. Defensively Berwick seem to have no player who knows how to defend. Individually and as different units they’re miles away positionally and no one seems to have any defensive awareness at all. Wide open every single attack. No cover, no shape, no balance. There’s no evidence at all of a plan. I didn’t expect to see some amazing revolutionary thing in attack- hard to do that in two weeks- but defensively there’s no evidence of any work being done at all on the training pitch. Sad, sad times.

    Allegedly it’s not [emoji23]
  7. Relegation Play-offs; Cove v. Berwick

Anyone phoned the Guiness book yet? Yano surely the first guy in senior football history to be relegated twice in six weeks?
  8. Relegation Play-offs; Cove v. Berwick

My main point being that when the play offs actually came in, Berwick were miles away from being this bad but have allowed themselves to fall to a standard that probably would struggle in next seasons EoS premier, never mind the Lowland.
  9. What happens now at Berwick Rangers?

I’d stress a need to Learn how to pass it to each other in the hope that they can actually create an opportunity to have a shot first.
  10. Relegation Play-offs; Cove v. Berwick

The big question will be how the rest of the current L2 teams respond. Shire getting relegated woke a few up but always felt there was an underlying feeling that everyone else was better than losing a play off v a non league team. The arguments have always been made by league two fans that no automatic place should be available because of a few teams inability to win the two legged tie. The absolute bodying of an established league two team (albeit one that were horrific the last two seasons) by a non league team will have to have a few taking notice and bricking it. Although the flip side is that Berwick are where they are because they failed to take heed of the shire relegation and allowed themselves to slip closer to the abyss. There was even talk that they looked down their nose at the city board the first time they went to Shielfield as being some upstart non league side that would be back to where they came from soon enough.
  11. Relegation Play-offs; Cove v. Berwick

Cove are clearly a very good non league team and based on yesterday they can perform better than a few of the teams in L2. But in the HL they can cruise through about 75% of the games without really having to break sweat and get to dominate possession in most games- this won’t be the same next year. League 2 is a grind and now that Berwick are gone there won’t be any obviously cheap three points available. Be interesting to see how they cope with the higher standard week in and week out.
  12. Correct. So no change to the other 14 teams. The point I was making is that no other (current) LL team would have been affected- it would be Selkirk and welfare who drop out.
  13. And by ‘extra LL team’ you meant Selkirk, who were dug meat and would have finished bottom even if they could have staved off the creditors.
  14. Relegation Play-offs; Cove v. Berwick

Wasn’t at the game so can only go on how the stats were presented on bbc and various bookies websites but that’s horrific reading. It’s a little old skool to think like this, but two yellows and eight fouls in a huge game with everything at stake perhaps tells you all you need to know about the ‘character’ of that group of players/current state of the club* (delete as applicable)
