  1. We Were Eight Years in Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates Really didn't enjoy this. Felt the author was self important and managed to make what should be interesting subjects really boring. I found myself drifting off several times. It's a shame as I was really interested in the content on the surface, the writing just didn't do it for me.
  2. Buddying my sister to the Donny Benet gig at Room 2 on Saturday night. Know very little of his music, but I'm sure I'll have a good time. Anyone been to the venue that can tell me what it's like?
  3. It's been a while since I've been but it's a great city. Would recommend a river cruise, I really enjoyed that. And if you're looking for food, there's a few of them called Schweinske, which unsurprisingly specialise in pork, and I've never had anything less than a massive, tasty meal there.
  4. The Gaslight Anthem - Here's looking At You, Kid
  5. No, I didn't even know it existed. Will definitely look into it.
  6. Say Nothing and Empire of Pain are two of the best non-fiction books I've read in the past few years.
  7. I've just put a standing ticket for In Flames and Arch Enemy for Glasgow on sale on Ticketmaster as I now can't make the show. Standing is sold out, so good chance for anyone who missed out!
  8. Third Eye by Felicia Day Great fun. Really good performances from the cast, good, silly story. Very enjoyable.
  9. Jason Kelce has officially announced his retirement.
  10. Fantastic news. Hope Wednesday goes brilliantly. My Mrs is looking at going through the citizenship process later this year, good to hear someone else who's gone through it and had a good outcome!
  11. Stuttering start to Spring Training from the Mariners, but any of the games I've caught I've hardly heard of any of the players, so seems to be a lot of minor leaguers getting a run out. Quietly confident for the season, the core group from the last two years is still hanging around, and I'm intrigued to see what the new arrivals, especially on the pitching staff, have to offer.
  12. Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner of an aggressive brain tumour. No puns, I'm actually quite sad about this one. Blackberry Smoke drummer Brit Turner dies aged 57 (planetradio.co.uk)
  13. Crowded House - Four Seasons in One Day
  14. My local community theatre group Dumbarton People's Theatre doing The Haunted Through Lounge and Recessed Dining Nook at Farndale Castle tonight at the Den ny Civic. Not the best play I've ever seen but had a good few laughs and was pretty well entertained. The amateur cast were are really good. Not a bad way to spend £7.
  15. Kilsyth Athletic 0-1 Vale of Leven A battling win. Wasn't pretty at times but another huge three points and clean sheet.
  16. Brilliant pale ale from Overtone and New Bristol.
  17. Cracking Kölsch style from No Limits. Was only canned about 20 minutes before I bought it today, doesn't get any fresher. (House is currently a building site, so improvised with the picture. Normal toaster background should be back soon)
