  1. Rolling back the years to see Hell Is For Heroes tonight. Forgot just how good a band they are, so many great songs (Slow Song remains an all time classic). Justin sounds exactly the same as he did in 2003 and has the energy of a man half his age. Superb stuff. Support came from James and the Cold Gun and Templeton Pek, who were both decent but I'll not be rushing out to see either of them again.
  2. Bought my dad tickets for Slash for his Christmas and the gig came around tonight! Brilliant show, what a musician. The fifteen minute guitar solo was a sight to behold. Myles Kennedy is a fantastic frontman as well, and bassist Todd Kearns did superbly when he took over on vocals. Great night. Support from Mammoth WVH. Eddie's boy is very good indeed.
  3. Another new to me Overtone in The Brass Monkey. Quality beer, quality pub. Even got my dad on the craft beer as he's trying Up Front's Das Ist Ein Lagerbier!
  4. In The Brass Monkey in Finnieston before Slash at the Hydro tonight. Great selection in their fridges!
  5. Glen Hansard at the Pavilion tonight. Absolutely fantastic. A 2 hour plus set covering his solo material and work with The Frames. Just Glen and his guitar (and occasionally piano) for most of the set and really funny and engaging between songs. Superb show. Support was very unconventional as self proclaimed "mythteller" Martin Shaw spun a fairytale of his own creation. Unusual and quite entertaining.
  6. Had this Japanese White Ale at Maki & Ramen with dinner before Glen Hansard tonight. Very nice.
  7. Daði Freyr - Think About Things
  8. I am surprised Sprints never got moved up given how quickly it sold out.
  9. My sister has come through with the goods and presented me with machine Head tickets for my birthday. Absolutely delighted, can't wait for that show!
  10. Spanish Love Songs - The Boy Considers His Haircut
  11. Sonic Youth - Female Mechanic Now On Duty
  12. I've got Rumours of Fleetwood Mac, Smells Like Nirvana and The Australian Pink Floyd booked for this year. Love a good tribute band, especially when it's for someone I'll not get the chance to see the real thing.
  13. Spectacular Strong Belgian Blonde from No Limits. I got the last out the keg of this when I went in on Saturday. Sold out 50 litres in 2 days. Can see why it was so popular.
  14. April Gigs: 2nd: Glen Hansard (Pavilion Theatre) 3rd: Slash (OVO Hydro) 4th: Hell is for Heroes (The Garage) 7th: Sprints (King Tut's Wah Wah Hut) 17th: Microwave + The Dirty Nil (Oran Mor) 26th: Soapbox (King Tut's Wah Wah Hut) (work permitting) A bit full on this week (celebrating my birthday with different people), but a much more sensible month after that.
  15. Mariners 2-2 after opening weekend at home to the Red Sox. Could have been a lot worse of a start.
  16. Thats 21 year old full Poland International Kinga Kozac
  17. Caledonia Gladiators Women 90-58 Newcastle Eagles Women Easter Sunday basketball in East Kilbride as the hometown Gladiators dominate and go top of the WBBL. What a player Laken James is. Record crowd of over 900 for the women's team. Really impressed with the purpose built facility at Playsport, excellent views from everywhere, great facilities and excellent food and drink options. Their self service beer machine was excellent. Looking forward to seeing how they develop the facility. Posting in here given the lack of a general basketball thread.
