  1. Not strictly true.. the club have said several times that it’s not the building of a stadium that is the main issue, end of the day even if Crownpoint came off we still had to build a stadium the council wouldn’t and there isn’t one already there. the club have said that funding for stadium was available. What important and vital is that there is a means of generating income 7 days a week not every second Saturday which is unsustainable in lower league, or any other for that matter. Crownpoint offered that opportunity as it had existing users and an athletic track etc. in answer to your question re alternative Council facilities I’m led to believe there may well be.
  2. You are reading to much into what I said, I was probably posting under a disappointment cloud. I was merely speculating that the GGC are flawed in that “interested parties “ were too close to the process. Only my opinion I have no connection to the club other than being an owner so as much in the dark about the decision as anyone. Although a di know that certain council officials were “awkward” during the process to say the least
  3. Always going to be difficult in not impossible given the individual Councillor that was himself involved in the Finnart bid.. all a bit “iffy” to say the least. Cant actually fault those involved in our bid, they must be gutted as they presented a fantastic case and met every criteria asked. Just need to move on now unfortunately
  4. It sums our season (up till now hopefully) when we are looking at young loan players to be our main players… never going to happen, L2 sides don’t get that quality of boy. Loans at our level normally supplement the main squad. As I say fingers crossed we get the targets we are after so we can look at loans to add to the squad for depth rather than necessarily starting.
  5. And they have just voted to keep the B teams in. Shocking decision yet again from Lowland League clubs, shame on those clubs who voted for it!
  6. He’s currently injured. In any case he’s only played in midfield for us when he was fit, certainly not a midfield player, no idea what he is like at the back so I assume he will be going back to you when McCall start his long awaited clear out and signing spree. (McCall won’t have even seen him play for us)
  7. They will if we offer a transfer fee, like has been the case for ever.
  8. I think McCall is just playing everyone just to see them in proper game, not that hexwill learn anything he won’t already know. Might be easier to move on one of the 11 diddies to WOSL etc if they are at least seen to be starting a game from time to time. Much as I get the not get detached opinion as far as I’m concerned we are getting nothing in next 3 games and therefore not getting upset about it as I normally would. I’ll leave that to next month or two if we are still losing when McCall has his new players in, which they say he is confident of getting. January just can’t come quickly enough and I’m sure McCall feels the same way!
  9. Well Allan Maitland did say we wouldn’t recognise the team by end of January…. We can only live in hope!
  10. Looked to me that Stevenson thought he had given a free kick and just booted the ball out for a corner. McCall was going mental at him
  11. As usual we are so generous toward opposition who don’t need to create goals. Hugely frustrating today, it’s obvious to everyone that McCall has managed to at least get a semblance of a system and game plan, which considering the utter lack of ability amongst this Duffy inflicted aberration is a bonus at least and something to cling on to. Not much more to say other than that Rennie sitter missed and allowed Stranraer to equalise just sums us up. Made worse by the fact that the invisible Oli McDonald get hauled off ant the sub fecken scores! Typical Roll on January!!
  12. I think a former Chairman knocked back the opportunity several years ago unfortunately.
  13. The issue isn’t a ground to play on it’s about having a stadium where we have exclusive rights to receive maximum income both on match day and more importantly outside match days.
  14. There are regular updates on owners forum. Basically the relocation group have provided everything asked of them by given or even before deadlines, but the Council being the council they constantly move the decision date.
  15. As usual it’s the Thomson out narrative with no alternative, no solutions, no plan. Again unfortunate distraction when we have to concentrate on transfer window and re-location at very least.
  16. I remember the Shawfield game well, I was really excited to see all those Aberdeen guys in the flesh and we played pretty well against them that day. However my biggest memory of that game was how physical they were. They absolutely booted us off the park, even though they never needed to and as a young guy then was actually disappointed in them, and I remember saying exactly that to my Dad (God rest him) who basically said “welcome to the gig boys playground son!”. Seems like yesterday and I’m so glad I have those memories of going to games with him for all those years.
  17. I don’t think McCall is the type who will suffer passengers in his squad. The likes of Cameron, C Scullion, McCulloch, Mulvanney, (Lyon too hopefully) will be “punted” one way or another, even if it’s payed off. King, Stevenson and Leslie can be sent back on 1st January none are either ready or good enough take your pick. I accept King has potential to be a decent player but not for us at the moment. Whyte I’m not convinced but will judge when / if he plays at the back where we are told he is decent? Think the original loan was till January anyway? Ray Grant will be like new signing which hopefully helps, fitness permitting of course. Priority are Goal keeper (unless a decent defence allows us to get away with what we have?), full backs, a mobile CH, a dynamic and or creative midfield player and at least one wide player. A goal scorer would be nice but not easy to find. That’s just to make us competitive. Big job and not straight forward even with the Significant funds we apparently have. Clubs won’t give players away as demonstrated last window when Maitland tried his best albeit late in the day to get proper players in. That said McCall has a good track record of spotting players so fingers crossed… January can’t come quick enough.
  18. As if my mood is not bad enough today, but turn on the radio only to here Jim Effing Duffy spouting forth his knowledge on the Scotland campaign and team selection. To make it worse his is joined by Pat Nevin also talking his usual pish. I cannot put in words my dislike for Duffy, utter Charlatan. Obviously I’ve found something better to listen to now, wouldn’t be hard!
  19. I agree it’s obvious it’s a hang on to coat tails job till January. Come The new year I think we will end up using some of our “decent” budget just to pay 5-6 players off and rip up their contacts. Can’t see any of these guys getting a club elsewhere, even in LL. Also return all the present loans which frees up 3 spaces and I suppose the loan fees. I assume King is going back anyway, Stevenson and Leslie are still a mile off what is required at this level.
  20. I’m not sure I 100% agree with that, where I sit he was in my eyeline and after the first goal he was basically shaking his head, writing tonnes of notes and constantly speaking to Scally. To me he was completely shocked at what he was witnessing, coupled with the fact he had literally nothing in his armoury to do much about it. Those mistakes today were total amateur hour. I love to think that’s the last time we see Ross Lyon in a Clyde jersey. To be fair to him he did try to change things and again in fairness we improved (relative of course) only thing I’d say it did show that Dunnachie can’t play in a back 3, which is a problem as he is the only defender we have and may limit what McCall can change in that regard. I’m afraid it’s going to be a case of shuffling deckchairs till January and also pray for extreme snow and ice till then and we don’t actually play!
  21. Grim absolutely awful. Gifted goals and keeper mistakes. Lyon abysmal today even by his standards. McCall has a huge job on his hands, only light is that we are not detached YET and he has money to spend in January, even then it looks like a huge if not impossible job. Today will have confirmed to McCall if he did not already know, that there is nothing in this squad that is good enough. Despite the Chairman’s obvious failure in appointing him, Jim Duffy should be thoroughly ashamed of himself every time he opens his mouth on the radio! Lazy, disgraceful attempt to do his job when employed by the club. He had left us with the probably the worst squad I’ve seen in decades of watching this club. Embarrassing
  22. Kennedy was definitely NOT offered the job.
