  1. totally gutted to not be making the Hearts B game, had it in my mind as Saturday but with in on the Friday I cant make it up in time from England. In general really sad at the lack of BU games I've managed, will need to make sure to get up more often next season, cant be missing out on the Hunterbaw renaissance

I like you as a poster, same with D Dave. But, this is not just a Tranent issue, albeit it appears this has gone a step to far! Linlithgow has already restricted their own 'ultras' as the wee knows are already causing trouble in the town centre. If clubs at this level, including East of Scotland clubs don't control their 'young teams' better, then this scene may get out of control. I know not all clubs are affected by this kind of issue, but taunting by a few 'young teams' appears to be getting out of hand.

Oh its absolutely not a Tranent specific issue, just stating my genuine gratitude to the fact that their officials are actually responding to instances like this in the correct manner, rather than how they did in the past.

What happened that Tranent are apologising??

Having been personally subjected to homophobic abuse from Tranetn fans I'm hardly shocked. Glad they're at least apologising for fans behaviour this time

OK here's how it happened.  We have 6 registered Centre Backs. Three  injured,  two cup tied and one suspended.

Stand in Dylan McDonald man of the match by a country mile, along with Lewis Spence best game for the team.

Last time here we were overwhelmed and frankly bullied. Not today. Stood up and were counted.

Silly sending off for John Robertson,  the epitome of genius and quite frankly stupidity.

As a squad I think today set an absolute marker,  This group means business and has everything needed to get to L2.

    Today we grew up.

only 6 centre backs? The hardship! Poor EK!

Have been impressed with Digaba on the couple of occasions that I've seen him, but from an objective perspective there are six sides with less GA than Bo'ness, so would think that one of those 'keepers would take precedence. Fully appreciate that clean sheets aren't just down to 'keepers, but it's certainly high in the key criteria.

Even if we didnt manage a top 4 finish as a first time management team coming in after the farcial exit of Ian Little leaving us totally in the lurch, the work Hunts and Michael have done to build a trong team unit really is remarkable. They have totally rejuvenated the team to a level not seen since Max Christies first season with us in the EOS. By the nature of their budget Gary Jardine is always stiff competition for best manager with how well he does with CSS but this season Hunts and Michael have been the absolute stand outs

  6. MK talking about Bo'ness having nothing to play for like we're not in a 4 way battle for the league cup spot. Then again when you've only ever managed at places where you can make signings willy nilly and don't need to care about finances its no surprise hes ignorant of that fact

Newtown is owned by Falkirk Council. Both clubs rent it.

Most members of the BU committee refer to them as “the parasites”.

Something will give eventually though, not a big enough place for 2 sides when Athletic reach their potential.

That descriptor is completely accurate. Their entire existence as a "Bo'ness" team has been parasitical, weaselling their way into Newtown Park, trying to use our name when going senior, keeping an almost identical badge and totally identical kits, theres absolutely nothing genuine about them

Think there was a bit of a fall out between the clubs around about then too, united initially thought there would be some link up between the clubs and they would work together but it became clear athletic wanted to be there own, I think that will prevent any future merger too.

athletic need to keep a bo’ness identity as that is why they can play at newtown as the land was donated to the people of bo’ness

They claimed they never had ambitions to become a senior club and that they would act as a bridge between the community club and the BUs, this was a lie. They then tried to register themselves as Bo'ness United Juniors when going senior and went to the press crying foul when Bo'ness rightly said they weren't allowed to do that. THey're a vanity project for a couple folk with money and the lack of uptake clearly shows as much. Theyre pretty much the exact same story as what Broomhill did with BSC Glasgow, the sooner they dissapear back into the ammys and over to Linlithgow again the better

What on earth are you even on about? At no point did I advocate a merger. Did you not read this part of my post, "Suspect it's impossible because of what's unfolded over the last few years and if so this definitely isn't a criticism..."?

No, no. Dig up, stupid! : r/TheSimpsons

With the best will in the world there's not much chance to overcome a club like EK when they have that type of mystery money behind them courtesy of Jim Kean and a revolving door in terms of constantly replenishing the quality of their squad every time they drop points. Not impossible but highly unlikely. Next season might be a window of opportunity if they go up but there's still Tranent spending big as well and lots of other clubs that can reasonably fancy their chances. More chance in other words but still a long shot, especially when the playoffs are factored in.

All I pointed out was the blindingly obvious as to how a similar cash injection could potentially be sourced in a Bo'ness context. If the club don't want to go down that road as my message made abundantly clear I was already aware is likely to be the case and don't have a problem with, then fans need to temper their expectations and enjoy what's happening at the moment. As others have pointed out the club has probably found its level now. Close but no cigar at the top end of the LL at least until top WoS clubs start entering the picture in LL terms which might mean something closer to midtable.

Looking a few years down the road there could be a Bo'ness derby in LL terms and two clubs at Newtown Park entering the Scottish Cup. Hope the mystery money has dried up by then and they go the way of Ballingry Rovers, but the worst case scenario would be they hang around long enough to buy a significant level of success on the park and start to build a following among the younger generation and permanently split the available resources in Bo'ness to support a part-time professional club.

Have you been reading this thread? Being in 3rd at this point of the season was never expected considering the circumstances that Hunts came in and absolutely no one thinks we should be doing better. The basically unanimous view is that we're a large non-league team who in a more financially balanced situation MIGHT be able to challenge for the league, nothing more. You're merger idea was a stupid thing to bring up when no one wants it, and you've continued digging that hole while fighting shadows.

I dont think theres anyone in this thread or the club in general who is upset at how this season has gone or who has outsized expectations like you're trying to suggest here. If the parasites money man had been finding success amongst the younger generation of Bo'nessians then they wouldnt be turning up to see the BU and the parasites support would be much larger by now, that has not happened and our dip in support has everything to do with the negative football on display for an extended period before the new management came in, it will take time to rebuild that support, but with the exciting football of this season and a total overperformance, hopefully we will see that happen. The only people who seem to think that the parasites are anything more than an ego trip with some hangers on is you and the town idiot of Linlithgow

Evening all. I'm interviewing Stuart Hunter on Wednesday for my podcast and wondered if there was anything you wanted to ask him as supporters? If there is anything as well you'd like to share which would enhance the show I'm all ears. Happy to share it afterwards if you are interested.

Ask him what his opinion is on Craig Napier ("referee") and if he reckons he has a grudge against hunts since he sent him off years ago in the Junior cup!

Moving in the right direction now hopefully.

It certainly seems that way, I'm sure there'll be a couple bumps in the road with Michael and Hunts being fairly new to management but the business theyve been doing since the job was thrust on them gives me a lot of confidence in both the long and short term

I think you're letting how things ended sour your view of Max's term as BU boss, he took over from a team well out of a title race under Kerrigan to a league title and the East of Scotland CUp winners, hes the reason we're in the Lowland league now and saw us through the covid years with a very old squad. In Max We Trust was a fair motto based on those years, unfortunately when it came time to replace the old heads in the squad he wasnt the man to do it and things fell apart from there, and the less said about the disgraceful behaviour of him and Little in regards to the end of last season the better.

  14. Yet another ridiculous signing. If EK dont go up at this stage you've got to question the fairness of next campaign considering the amount theyve spent this year. I doesnt just disadvantage the rest of the LL, their resources far outstrip any HL team and whoever Team 42 turn out to be. For all of MK's chat of sporting integrity recently re: the B teams, it really is shocking how EK have conducted this campaign.

  15. This season has seen a far lower turnover of players and less 'duds' signed than under previous managers. The smart business of getting extensions sorted early is good to see as well. Hunts and Michael have done an incredible job considering the position they came to the job from . Based on the chaos in the summer my start of season expectation was anywehre from 8th to 12th and theyve certainly blown away that prediction. The fact that in January I'm still keeping an eye on EKs results tells the whole story!

Can’t blame the board for this one. Blame the clubs who sold their soul. 3 more years of this then they can get lost.

Teams that don’t need to win don’t belong in a league.

Can and will blame both, farcical move from the board, deeply stupid move from the tinpots that voted for it to happen

    18!

Porteous 11, Grant 8, Stevenson & Stenhouse 5, McLean & Malcolm 4, Dalziel Foster Kennedy Travis McArthur Mooney 2, Hawkins Henderson Rutherford Gemmell McAuley Johnstone 1

That is an incredible statistic. Would be interesting to compare to the stats under Max. In Hunterbaw we trust!
