  1. Have to say i was very impressed watching today. West Brom looked a good side, passed the ball well, and took their chances.

Liverpool were just poor. Can change managers all you want, but unless you turn the playing squad over, the results will always be the same.

  2. Readable enough but more Thomas Harris than Thomas Hardy. Not sure I want to read Book 2

The book is part of a trilogy, so unless you really hated it - i'd keep reading. The first part was really just setting the scene for the main part of the story that happens in the other 2 books, and introducing characters.

  3. A Chicago - Philly final would be just about the most horrible thing I could imagine. I better get used to it though.

Looks like your nightmares are 1 game away from becoming reality.

Also looks like i jinxed the Sharks.

Hopefully Philly win, as then there will be another parade for a winning team, making it 2 in the 3 years since i moved there.

  4. First time in 35 years a team has come back to win from being 3-0 down in the series, an absolutely unthinkable achievement by Philly.

I think it shows that you should never go 3-0 up against the Flyers. Great comeback from them - and they are a team with a lot of injured stars too. Should be an interesting final, but if you are a Sharks fan you must be rubbing your hands with glee at all the bigger teams who have lost in the East. Could this be the lowest seeded Eastern conference final there has ever been?

  5. What BBQ sauce do folks use or anyone have a good recipe to make one??

We use this recipe for our ribs:-

2 pounds pork baby back ribs

    1 teaspoon ground black pepper

2 1/2 cups barbecue sauce (not mesquite flavored - we use Kraft honey bbq)

1 jar (8 oz. size) cherry jam or preserves

    1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

    1/4 teaspoon salt

Additional salt and black pepper (optional)

Turn this recipe into a puzzle! [click]

    Directions:

Trim excess fat from ribs. Rub 1 teaspoon pepper over ribs. Cut ribs into 2 rib portions; place in crock pot/slow cooker.

Combine barbecue sauce, jam, mustard and 1/4 teaspoon salt in small bowl; pour over ribs.

Cover; cook on LOW heat setting 6 to 8 hours or until ribs are tender. Season with additional salt and pepper, if desired. Serve ribs with sauce.

  6. We have one and love it. There is a great Ribs recipe that we always cook in it, the meat really does just fall off the bones, and the sauce is fantastic. Mostly we use it to make stews and things, like everyone else does, and the last thing we make a lot is a "triple chocolate hot chocolate" - especially in the winter.

I'd definitely recommend everyone that enjoys home cooked food to buy one.

p.s. thanks for that chicken and bacon recipe reina, thatll be the next one i try :D

  7. Interesting ones. Ronnie has a very tough start and im interested to see how Hendo does in this match. Stephen LEe found a wee bit of form so that could be a potential upset.

    Neil Robertson World Champion 2010.

The Stephen Lee vs Stephen Mcguire one is also interesting as haven't both been embrloiled/accused/involved with games with irregular betting recently?

  8. See the Flyers won last night. Pretty good. The guy Carcillo seems to be able to get under opposing players skin quite easily. A few Toronto players wanted to have a go at him.

There seems to be a lot of nastiness between the 2 teams. I only watched the first period, but Caracillo did an excellent job of getting the 4 minute penalty, then after the Mapleleafs had managed to hold off from giving up a goal, Orr (Who got the penalty on Carcillo) went straight back into the penalty box for another penalty. The Maple Leafs were very poor in that first period in terms of discipline, and with only 1 goal it was disappointing really for the Flyers. They held on though, and are still in that battle for a playoff spot. Don't think they will go far however.

  9. I watched the odd game on ESPN and enjoyed the olympic final, but not got a team as such so not that much interest for me. Most of you guys seem quite passionate about the teams you follow, how did you end up with these teams, I've tried to find a reason to support someone but as yet Calgary Flames are the best I can do because they're nearly Claret and Amber (well their website linked to NHL seems to be anyway)

Who should I be supporting, might make me watch more games if I've a team.

    Philadelphia Flyers.

    Their "goalkeeper" is called Leighton.

  10. I think even Hendry has said he's the best at one time or another. His temperament is the only reason he hasn't won more world titles.

And because of that temperament - he can't be considered the best ever. (at least not in my opinion). Best raw talent - there probably isn't a doubt.

  11. Philadelphia are probably the Leafs' biggest rivals from the U.S. It goes right back to when the Flyers were still a relatively new team, and even in 2003 and 2004 the Flyers beat the Leafs in the playoffs.

Ok, i was just shocked - i had just finished telling my mum about the fact there isn't as much fighting as there use to be - and 19 seconds into the game a fight breaks out.

  12. Well, just back from the game, and the Flyers thrashed the Maple Leafs 6-2 (was even more comfortable than sounds). More than that, there were at least 5 fights in an ill tempered game - for those that know more than me, is there any history between the 2 teams?

Anyway, was an enjoyable evening and i'll post pics when i can get them onto my computer.

  13. Lesbian Vampire Killers 0/10

Quite simply one of the worst films ever seen. Persuaded by mates to go see this film at the weekend on the promise of cheap laughs and even cheaper lesbian action. A grand total of zero laugh out loud moments, and even failed to deliver any nudity, vioence or decent lesbian action of any sort. It was never going to be more than average fare, but it failed to even deliver a storyline. Horne and Corden are two of the most overrated personnel on this planet. Their 'hilarious' gags consisted of calling each either hysterical rude names + swearing alot. £7.40 to see this pish at the Bath Odeon, thats how much the bloody film cost to make  . If this is my only worthy contribution to society then so be it. DO NOT SEE THIS FILM UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!!!! Thank you. :)

You paid 7.40 to see a film called lesbian vampire killers. You deserve the film you got.

Last film i watched was Righteous Kill. A pretty disappointing film really, but always going to be. Far too obvious what was going on to make up for the disappointment of not being as good as a film with De Niro and Pacino should be. 6/10.

  14. A very high scoring weekend. Two great results for Devils to beat Bruins and Sharks both by a goal. Very hard earned wins with tense finishes. Ridiculous number of soft penalties yesterday v Sharks. Cost both sides goals.

Watched Rangers getting slaughtered again before the Devils match. They really are rank rotten. Didn't think anyone would be sacked before Renney!

Philly put 5 past both NY RAngers and the Islanders over the weekend. They are hitting form again it seems, and have a few guys back from injury.

  15. Surely you cant compare the Devils to the Sabres. Buffalo is 6+ hours from NYC. Newark is a about 10 km from downtown NYC. I would say it is comparable to saying paisley is a suburb of glasgow. Both New York football teams play in New Jersey.

Comparably, Buffalo get about 3000 more people in attendance than the Devils, which is saying alot since Buffalo (as a city) doesnt really have a whole lot going for it currently. The Devils and the Islanders are both in the bottom ten in terms of attendance. Perhaps 3 teams is too many for that area, not to mention New York sucks and doesnt deserve that many teams anyway.

    Buffalo is in NY

    New Jersey is in NJ

NY RAngers are in NYC (Manhattan)

NY Islanders is in Long Island - not NYC.

Whether or not there are too many teams around NJ/NYC is completely irrelevant to the fact that NJ is NOT a NYC team.

FWIW- New Jersey will also lose out on fans to Philadelphia. If you had said there are probably too many teams in the NY/NJ/PA area of the US - you may well have a point. However what you said was blatantly incorrect.
