  1. I'll settle for 8-0 Hibs, provided we pump Sevco/Aberdeen.
  2. I'm just gonna pretend that was an exquisite first touch from Tiffoney to kill a punted pass stone-dead there, and nothing at all to do with the surface
  3. Just along the road from me. "Strong winds" is a bit of an understatement, to put it mildly.
  4. Christ! you're telling me they are the same in every single team's match threads?
  5. Bit harsh labelling Sevco "diddy". Ok, only been around 12 years, but they do actually have a proper "major" trophy to their name, unlike, say... Livingston, who are totally diddy.
  6. Still a dramatic improvement on any St.Mirren, St.Johnstone, or Hearts match thread.
  7. Hard Vader Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!! MVS is the sort of WR that makes you hope all the talk about the worst aspects of Greg Roman are true, and they just plan to stick Herbert in the Wishbone and run the ball 60 times per game.
  8. Would likely have lapped the field and some in Belgium in 1998 as well, had Coulthard not had an absolute Latifi moment and nearly killed him. Still to this day can't understand why DC didn't land a ban for that. One of the most egregious acts of sheer stupidity I can remember seeing on a racing track, especially since he was also solely responsible for the galactic-sized mega-pile-up at the original start which wiped out most of the field. One other race that I'll always remember is the 2000 Japanese Grand Prix. Not because it's the race where he clinched the first Ferrari driver's title, but because it was an absolute flat-out blast between Schumi and Hakkinen that saw them both finish over a minute clear of the field. It was absolutely no-holds barred and fantastic, balls-out racing from two guys right at the top of their game. You got the distinct impression that both of them were wringing absolutely everything out of both cars every single lap from lights to flag. MH was every bit as great on that day, MS just had a tiny edge. I watched Senna/Prost, Alonso/Schumi, and everything since, and I can't recall a race where both guys were so utterly on the limit with absolutely nothing between them the entire way. I think it's still the greatest F1 race I've watched in terms of sheer competitiveness and intensity. There is a part of me that wishes Schumi had been a few years older, and perhaps Senna a few younger and lived beyond '94, because as great as Schumi v Hakkinen was, Schumi v Hakkinen v Senna in a still potentially competitive Williams had Renault been motivated to stick around as a Factory outfit, would really have been something else, and I think possibly looked back on as the greatest modern F1 era. I totally get why folk believe Schumi was a git, but there was a positive aspect to his personality that most of them, even the mediocre ones totally lack. He genuinely went all-out to try and win the Title for Eddie Irvine in '99 after he came back from the leg-break, which, considering the entire Ferrari revival was driven by Schumi's obsession, shows a totally magnanimous side in the face of reality. A lot of drivers, even the "greats" would have completely patched that in order to sabotage a "rival", even though it's their teammate, and save the glory of it for their attempt the season after. Gaston Mazzacane was asked what it's like pootling around in a shit-afwul Minardi, and why he persisted with what must have been a soul-destroying experience. Part of his reply was that he got annoyed at the total lack of consideration shown to him on the track by the other drivers, because their attitude was "here comes the clown in his clown car". The exception, he said, was Schumi, who he said was always aware of when GM was coming through on his "fast" quali lap, and he was the only guy in the field who never hesitated to dive out of the way as a courtesy to GM every single time. Schumi was also instrumental in vouching for Massa to be given a seat to replace Barichello, as Ferrari weren't convinced, but Schumi insisted. He had such an affection for FM that when he found the team were planning to ditch him at the end of 2006, Schumi chose to retire to basically force them to keep FM on. He might have been a shitbag in a lot of respects, but he was also a lot more magnanimous than most of the fuckers as well.
  9. In what way? It's always been a facet of other laws, and if you are concerned about the Police's or COPFS's ability to interpret it, then you must surely also be concerned about their ability to decipher and interpret it elsewhere, or any and every other law for that matter.
  10. This line has been used repeatedly by those determined to make mischief, arguing that all it takes for someone to get cuffed and prosecuted is for someone to claim they were placed in a state of fear or alarm by something that was said. Yet again, this is a bad faith argument, because while that is one part of the threshold for determining whether or not a crime has taken place, it is the second aspect, the first of which involves the "reasonable person" qualifier, so if I claim I was placed in a state of fear or alarm, not only does that have to be in relation to one of my protected characteristics, it also has to be adjudged to be that any "reasonable" person would feel the same, hence why all these ludicrous, bizarre, confected scenario are risible nonsense. They are not the claims of a "reasonable" person, they are transparent acts of mischief.
  11. Elasticated snakebelt mate. I have some decency.
  12. Sage advice. I've been gradually winding down my SM presence and being a lot more aggressive with what I'm filtering out in terms of blocking individuals, blocking certain forums and so on, but it's difficult to ignore it completely because the mainstream media is now at the point where it hangs on every utterance of certain people, even though those people are still kiddying on they've been "silenced" and so on. It's been especially prevalent in the past week because of the HCB, and I refuse to extend my self-censorship to ignoring any and all political news just to get away from it.
  13. The term used to describe the militant/activist element of those holding "Gender Critical" beliefs. They use "TRA", "Trans-Rights-Activist" to describe anyone who voices anything resembling a moderate outlook on the matter of transpeople's existence, so "GC" and "TRA" gets lobbed back and forward. The whole thing is an absolute mess, with dishonesty and venom on both "sides". It's understandably emotive, but it's reached the point now whereby both sets of folk are so entrenched in mutually irreconcilable positions that I think it's only a matter of time before it erupts into serious violence. I'm not talking about tangenital hate-crimes like the murder of Brianna Ghey, I think it's inevitable someone is going to have a go at JKR, India Willoughby, or somesuch, and make it abundantly clear in the process of doing so that they were motivated entirely by this back-and-forth. It's eerily reminiscent of some of the homophobic/fascist stuff that was going on in the 70's and 80's, and by that I mean the rhetoric being used. I think that if Social Media had been a thing back then it would not have looked much different to the toxic discourse we're seeing now, just that the specific subject matter would be different.
  14. This is actually a bit less sinister than her usual output. At least she has the good grace to state "some" trans-identified men are sex-offenders, an indisputable fact. More commonly, she'll post photos of the minority of sex-offenders, alongside photos of perfectly law-abiding transpeople. Doesn't take much imagination to grasp what the tactic is. She's also fond of completely ignoring the fact that, generally speaking, we don't expect entire classes of people to answer for the actions of a few bad actors within their peer group, and she invariably talks endlessly about trans-identified men, or transwomen, and completely ignores the fact that they are not the entirety of the trans population.
  15. Part of me thinks England will eventually descend into a "Children of Men" like State, at which point they'll ether eject us as being too costly and difficult to police, or we'll be able to UDI to get away from the batshittery and the UN and EU will recognise it and act as guarantors. Just a question of what sort of global/environmental catastrophe precipitates it, and what state we'd be dragged down to beforehand.
  16. I have to admit, I've always been puzzled by the almost McCarthy-like zeal with which Labour members are firstly accused of, and then denounced for being or allegedly being members of LFI, yet the mere existence of the much more sinister and pertinent CFI is treated almost like a State secret by comparison.
  17. Don't really like the idea of playing it in Lanarkshire, because the implication is that we are "Airdrie" in that scenario. I'd rather just give Motherwell the points.
  18. Get tomorrow's game oot the way, give Celtic their covers back, then get the sprinklers going full pelt from 5pm tomorrow until Wednesday.
  19. I mentioned this the other day, but if it's the SPFL that sets the criterion, is it not the case that a degree of the scrutiny falls upon them to ensure clubs comply, especially when they are promoted up to "prestige" divisions like we were last May. Does their scrutiny begin and end with a quick phonecall to the club secretary just to confirm theoretical compliance? I mean, if Dens is unfit to meet their standards, it was surely unfit back in May 2023 when we won the Championship, or even May 2022 when we previously played in the SFPL's Premiership, so what real grounds would they have for turning around now and deciding it isn't fit 80%+ of the way through a full season? This doesn't exclude the possibility that Dundee have just been evasive, fibbing, or pulling the wool over the SPFL's eyes, but even then that wouldn't exactly show the SPFL in a good light.
  20. I think a small part of this might actually be that's it's been a bit wetter this past winter than it once was. Anecdotal, and I haven't actually looked at Met Office records or anything, but I'm in Edinburgh and I'd swear the past 4 or 5 months has been the wettest November - March I can recall in my entire life. Can't ever remember there being so many storms packed into such a short timespan, and this has been yet another winter with virtually no snow whatsoever. I know aulder folk have reputation for moaning and claiming everything used to be better, but I'm no geriatric yet, and every single one of my pals is saying exactly the same thing. Winters over the past ten years have been noticeably milder, but far wetter than anyone recalls them ever being even 20-30 years back. If it's noticeable now, it's only going to get worse.
  21. Is there a fleg in every bloody corner of Downing Street, or does some lackey just follow him everywhere carrying one to deposit in shot?
  22. Someone might want to point out to them then, that they might want to stop using "the country" interchangeably with "England & Wales" while they are pimping themselves in Scotland. On second thoughts, don't, because that is prototypical Labour and they will never realise by themselves.
