  1. Anyone know if season tickets valid tonight? I know they usually aren’t for the cup but the match poster normally says Not Valid and there is no mention of it on this one.
  2. Thought we did well in bits, especially first half but lost a bit of our threat when Walker had to go off. Nothing against Corbett but first two Morton goals were balls inside the temp left back. Once the boy has got to the byline all it takes is one good pass/pull back - which they managed both times unfortunately. Still good to watch them try to play decent tempo passing football after last years shambles. And Tiwi is certainly the sort of player to get you out of your seat. His strength for the goal was very impressive.
  3. Played RB for most of yesterday then into CM later in game.
  4. Didn’t play last night as far as I could tell. We thought number 8 was Harley Ewen of Rangers, sure we heard him being called that during the game. But according to Transfermrkt Harley Ewen is about 6 2 and a right sided defender so he might be the boy who came on and played RB when Corbett moved to CB. Number 10 seemed to be Connor someone. No idea who 6 was.
  5. It was just enjoyable to watch good passing football played at a decent tempo without some demented seal barking “Shape shape shape” on the sidelines while the team being told to launch the ball long at every opportunity.
  6. Number 8 was the young Rangers lad I think. Thought him and 10 did well, 6 also in bits. Wasn’t too impressed by Biabi but early doors in pre season. Who Ross Cunningham the goal scorer? Thought Walker had a good game at left back and Tiwi certainly gets your attention
  7. The ‘’spread the payments” still isn’t working on Fanbase despite meant to be available in a “few days time” back in May.
  8. As said Was told Friday night just needed contracts agreed. He struggled with fitness this season. But we now have to bring in at least 2 strikers.
  9. I think there is a bit of a difference between L2 and L1. Players are generally fitter, faster and stronger. I’m surprised at the difference, wasn’t expecting it. I think we were all lulled a bit by the ease of L2 win. Took a while to find our feet at this level, not helped IMO by the manager. He doesn’t inspire me at all, no idea what he does to the team standing on the sidelines barking like a demented seal about SHAPE SHAPE SHAPE. His football is night and day from Thomson’s. More launch it early rather than Thomsons passing game. At times when we have passed it about we have looked good but hes took quick and often in demanding we go back to front quickly. Haven’t has a consistent stable defence all season for one reason or another, that’s always gonna cost you IMO especially when trying to find your feet at higher level. And goal threat has diminished greatly too. Overall happy to be staying in the league but I have a feeling that’s more to Clyde and Peterhead being honking rather than us. I think next season will be a challenge.
  10. I thought Edinburgh were the best organised side I’ve seen at Kelty all season yesterday. Very hard to break down and most of our attempts were from distance.
  11. A mediocre first half from both sides but once we got the first goal it was pretty much plain sailing from there. Alfie continues to be a handful when he’s on form, not many defenders can handle of pace and power. Would love to think he will be here next season but can’t see it. I noticed that Low and McNab were both allowed to leave in the last week or so and that resulted in yesterdays threadbare bench. Cardle however was the game changer and a fantastic 30 mins or so from him. I keep on looking up the table at the play off positions but I think too big of an ask from this position, especially with top 3 still to play away from home before end of season.
  12. I was at the cup game when Bo'ness Athletic beat a near full strength Swifts team 6-3 at Dalgety Bay late last year. He scored all 6 and Swifts didn't have a clue how to handle him that day. He looks absolute rapid and a very good finisher too.
  13. Swifts couldn’t handle him whole game. Hat trick in both halves and they had no way to stop him.
  14. From a Kelty fan who didn’t know your players from Adam before today. I thought the RB McCann looked decent and had a lot of space going forward at times, it was just never exploited. Turns out he’s a LB? The lad with the bad Ibiza hairdo Morrison, best player IMO. Could beat a man as often as he wanted, he was a threat. Was worried about number 9’s pace and movement against two 37 year old CBs, one of whom retired at end of last season and ate like a retired man in the summer. Surprised he didn’t come out for second half. Was glad to see him gone tho. Surprised the two big CBs got physical bested by Higgy. He just backed in and held his ground again and again and they had no answer to it. Not sure why a midfielder wasn’t made to go and stand in front Higgy when saw this happening so often. No one in the midfield made any sort of impression on me whatsoever, all pretty anonymous. The two lads who came on later in game looked better than anyone in your starting bar Morrison.
  15. Still a bit baffled by Tidser playing further forward than Barjonas but a wins a win, much needed too. Thought that was a solid and experienced defence today, again much needed. Higgy will have a few bruises tonight, won a lot more than I expected against those big Falkirk lumps at the back. Falkirk fans a strange lot, first time I’ve ever encountered them, old women screaming abuse at Joe, Higgy and in fact anyone. Weird.
  16. Higgy too. MOTM today, brutalised those big Falkirk centre backs.
  17. Actually was 17 league games and 1 cup game v Montrose (805). Didn’t include St Johnstone cup game as the 2,183 would skew the figures too much.
  18. Average attendances for home league games last season was 721 from 18 league games, for some reason can’t find an attendance for one of the Edinburgh games. Highs of about 1200 + 1100 (midweek) v Cowden, low of 433 v Elgin early February. Most crowds seemed to be in the 600-800 range with pretty minimal away fans. The opening game crowd was a surprise but Edinburgh don’t bring many. I know me + about 4 would have been there but we were on holidays overseas. Probably others also away too, it was still July. Not sure the “causal supporter when winning” theory holds a lot of strength for Edinburgh crowd as it was a game we would have expected to win, as did last season, and the losses were that game and the games after that game. I would think most people attending thought it would be a home win.
  19. A few things I’ve noticed from the start of the season until now. We are playing more direct/long balls than we did last season. And I don’t think it’s to our advantage. The higher up the leagues you go, the less games where you will get plenty of chances. Passing up 3 very good 1st half chances yesterday is going to hurt. The higher up the leagues you go, the more pace you are going to face. We got burned yesterday on the break twice and it cost two goals which killed the game. We don’t seem to have much pace at the back. Playing a 3 in midfield with McNab as the most attacking of the 3 doesn’t work. He has plenty of energy and effort but surely he would be better sitting a bit deeper and let Barjonas play off the forwards? Hopefully Lyon’s starts next week as he looked decent. We seem to miss a proper defensive midfielder. Andy Black did a pretty under appreciated job at times last season. Very much missing Higgy, hopefully he is back soon. We also need a wide attacker to give us options. Cardle has some energy but surely he can’t do that week in week out for 90 mins.
  20. Likewise but we were pretty long ball at Glenrothes too. Full back, at least one more centre back, at least one centre mid and a wide option to challenge Cardle/Higgy. And a dare I say it an option at centre forward.
  21. Biggest issue yesterday seemed to be the style of play. Tried to hit Austin and Alfie early with lots of long balls. It didn’t work. It won’t work because you only win a certain % of balls punted up and the ones you win, unless there is someone there to take the flick on then you are losing the second ball. The big Albion centre back was strolling it v the long ball game. There was small period in second half when ball was played around, possession, looking for the pass, how we played most of last season. Looked so much better. It is early days but the squad is thin, there’s not much options off the bench and there have to be question marks over how well some of the starting 11 will fare in League 1. Add that to a long ball game seeming to be the preferred tactic and it’s not looking good.
