  1. You're never going to win cup ties if you give teams 4 goals of a start, and that was the case with us yesterday. 4-0 down after half an hour really put the tie beyond us. Leith took their chances where we didn't. We did give them a bit of a fright when we pulled it back to 5-3 but that poor first 30 mins was our downfall. Final score Lochore Welfare 3 Leith Athletic 6
  2. Couldn't make the game at Kinnoull yesterday but a 4-2 defeat brings us crashing back down to earth after our good midweek win against Oakley. From the reports I was getting, it seems a couple of errors cost us badly. The sending off was also a bit soft. Our scorers were Celantano and Dawson. We lost but still moved up the table from 11th into the top 10. A wee break from league football this week as we host Leith Athletic at Central Park in round 1 of the Alex Jack Cup.
  3. On my way to our first home match of tge season. Oakley United are our visitors. The rain thats forecast doesnt seem to have appeared so its an ideal night for football and three points hopefully [emoji106]
  4. Leith v Lochore Welfare now switched to Central Park, Crosshill, due to egg chasers at Peffermill
  5. Looking forward to tomorrow's game at Luncarty. I watched them destroy Lochgelly through the week so we are expecting a hell of a tough tie. No doubt Welfare have to be on top of their game to take anything away from Brownlands. In our favour, we do have a couple of players returning from injury who missed the Tuesday night defeat at Preston.
  6. Definitely disappointed to come away from The Pennypit with nothing last night. I thought it was a good hard fought match between two equally matched teams. A slip in midfield led to Preston scoring the only goal of the match. Our keeper had a couple of good saves in the first half but i thought Lochore had the better chances in the second half but just couldn't take them I hope the young lad who pulled up with his hamstring in the second half is ok. It looked a sore one. Heads up and on to match 3 in Luncarty on Saturday.
  7. Lochore signed Joe Kirby from Hill of Beath this evening. Another good addition to a rapidly improving squad at Central Park
  8. On what was a cracking day for football, Lochore came back from 2 goals down to win 3-2 and take the three points from there opening match at Stirling University EOS. The Students were two up after half an hour and, to be honest, it should've been more. Having centre back Kearyn Hicks go off injured early in the match didn't help Lochore's chances. A good run down the right from Robbie Crawford ended with his cross being fired home by Ewan Suthetland after 35 mins. Welfare had a wee breeze at their back for the second half and made full use of it. The equaliser was a beauty. Jamie Leslie spying the Stirling keeper off his line and firing a shot over him from 35 yards out. It was Lochore who looked most likely to grab the winner and it came when Joe Dawson headed home from a corner after 75 minutes. A great start to the season for Lochore who can hopefully keep the monentum up when they visit Preston Athletic on Tuesday.
  9. A midweek 4-2 victory over Greig Park Rangers has set us up for our opening league match tomorrow at Stirling University tomorrow. Our last competitive match was at Eyemouth and that feels like it was years ago. Players and committee can't wait to get back into action tomorrow. Up The Welfare[emoji460][emoji460][emoji460][emoji460][emoji460]
  10. A 3-0 defeat at Premier League Dundonald wasn't as bad a result as it sounds. Two goals in the last seven minutes killed us off. Work stopped me being there but I've been told that it was a pretty decent performance from Lochore. We have one more friendly before the season starts next week and that is on Tuesday when we travel to Windygates to take on Greig Park Rangers.
  11. It was a penalty Lee, but hopefully that's the first of many [emoji460][emoji460]
  12. Goals from new signings Kearyn Hicks and Lee Celantano sadly weren't enough to stop Lochore going down 3-2 to East Fife U20s in Methil today. Special mention to the guy who scored from the free kick for the home side's second goal. Not many keeper's in the country would've stopped that one. Wishing both East Fife and East Fife U20s all the very best for 2021/22 season
  13. Welfare travel to New Bayview today to take on East Fife U20s in our latest pre season friendly. Kick off in Methil is 2.30pm. Unfortunately there will be no spectators allowed.
  14. So our sesson will get underway on July 17th at Stirling University. Last season, the season that never was, we were denied a win when the students levelled with an injury time free kick. If we can just hold on that wee bit longer this time around [emoji120][emoji120]
  15. Everyone at Central Park is looking forward to competing in what will hopefully be our first full season in the East of Scotland League. I felt we were just starting to find our feet at this level when the league came to a halt. Manager James Adam is putting together a decent looking squad. We've had three wins out of three against local amateur sides so far with some good tests still to come before the league kicks off on the 17th July. Unfortunately today's match against Hill of Beath has been postponed. We are due to play away to East Fife U20s on the 3rd of July. Then we have a trip to Dundonald Bluebell on the 10th of July.
  16. Eyemouth v Lochore on 19/12/20 also had a positive test. So it hasn't just been one game in the EoSFL
  17. Lochore v Eyemouth has now been switched so game goes ahead at Eyemouth on Saturday with a 1.30pm kick off.
  18. Really looking forward to this season. Strange Lochore not being a junior team after 85 years in the grade. Some new places to visit, some cracking local derbies to compete in. Without doubt it'll be a fantastic learning curve for the young side our manager, James Adam, has put together. Saturday's first match away at Newburgh will be a good indicator of how much we still have to do. Wishing all teams in Conference B the very best of luck for the season ahead.
  19. Bertie Vogts started out at Lochore Welfare [emoji106]
  20. Great day at Aberfeldy yesterday. First outing for both clubs and it showed. Kelty had one shot at goal in the first half but were much the better side in the second half. Probably didn’t deserve to lose by 2-0 especially as the second Elgin goal was a tad dubious, from where I was sitting anyway. Massive congrats to the hard working Breadalbane FC committee for staging this. Great football in terrific conditions.
  21. Can someone give an updated list of what teams are now remaining Junior in the East. I stand to win a big bet from my old man. I told him a year ago, Lochore Welfare would be in the Super League within 5 years. The way things are going, it’s looking good for my prediction
  22. It’s a very decent set up. Applied to go junior in 2011 but were knocked back because of the adjacent golf course. I’d rate it better than a lot of current Junior grounds
