  1. Given there would be no need to build a full height stand, something like this along the side would be fine in my opinion. If some sort of functional/money making building can be incorporated into a slightly larger structure then fine. The problem we have is we need to fill the space but dont have a need for much more capacity in the stadium.
  2. Glad Hartley is away as although he did his job last season, summer recruitment has been awful. I agree with people dragging the board into this (and obviously the scout). The chat before the summer was about a small squad that was tactically flexible and focussed on quality over quantity. Instead we've ended up with players who for the most part, are worse than what we (rightly) binned last year. The squad is also lopsided and a bit bloated. This is Hartley's fault but surely these signings are approved by the board? I get they are not 'football' people but surely you dont need to be a tactical genius to notice that we dont have a right back. Why commision further signings including a third left back in the squad when it was clear this was a position we didnt have covered at all. I'm glad they have taken decisive action this week but I suspect there will be little or no accountability for either the board members or CEO after this debacle which is disappointing. It's been a shambles from top to bottom over the summer and I hope a new manager is appointed before Friday with a chance to maybe get 1 or 2 in. Regardless, it is a very tough gig and I think the target is likely to be 8th place for the new manager. The depressing this is its just another season pretty much over before it's even started...
  3. It bothers me, more than it probably should, that the two middle stripes sort of converge rather than go straight down.
  4. Sounds good, not long to wait now... not bought a kit for a few years but might get myself down to the stadium this weekend if this season's is a belter.
  5. I'm sure I heard it's a bespoke kit we're getting this year so won't be any of the templates that are doing the rounds...
  6. I think it's been a combination of bad luck and circumstance but O'Hara's chance has come and gone. He was direct and pacey when he first broke through. Had Baird not pinched his goal versus sevco he might have kicked on and never looked back. That didn't happen though. He's now bulked up but in turn, this has lost him a good yard or two of pace which was his main attribute. He's now playing like someone with no confidence, taking an extra touch, dwelling on the ball and looking for a safe pass rather than trying anything meaningful. I'd have released him but he won't be on much and if he could find some confidence, who knows. However, I can't see it and he'll find his level at Stirling Albion or someone similar in a couple year's time. Waste of a wage ultimately.
  7. Finally got round to watching the rest of this. Thought it was good overall. The stuff with Daniel and Robbie was a bit too contrived and a bit clumsy compared to some of the other nods to the original. With the benefit of hindsight, they could have perhaps spent more time on Johnny setting up cobra kai this season with the Daniel/Robbie stuff forming much of the second season. Minor complaints though as the original movie was one of my favourites growing up and they handled this series with care, and done pretty well. Looking forward to series two...
  8. Watched the first 2 episodes last night. Feared the worst going into it but was pleasantly surprised. Really was pretty decent with lots of knowing nods to the original. "what does this have to do with Karate?" (while doing all the chores) ..."don't question my methods!" followed up with "do you want me to wash the windows a particular way?" being a couple of moments in particular that made me laugh. Johnny is a good anti-hero though, plus the blurred lines about who is 'good' and who is 'bad' is a much more interesting narrative...
  9. Lecce back in Serie B for the first time since demotion for their part in the scommessopoli scandal. Despite a bout of cheating, I've got a soft spot for them and 6 years in the third tier is too long so glad to see them back in 'the big leagues'.
  10. Worst thing for me about that game was I'd went into the match with the guard up saying we had no chance but when big Grant scored and they were already down to 10 I thought, "we're actually going to do this!!" ...only for my heart to be savagely ripped out moments later. Never really had much time for either McCracken or McDonald after that day, both of whom I still resent with a petty bitterness that will never leave me.
  11. I think Juve will win it, sadly. Based purely on them beating Lazio 1-0 a couple of weeks back with their first shot on target in injury time. Results like that win you titles. Napoli getting pumped later the same day only rammed home the point. Would love to see Napoli win it though.
  12. That's a pretty cool main stand. I quite like stadiums that are cobbled together with different sized stands etc. Selhurst Park will look brilliant when finished.
  13. I like Muirhead in the sense he is a trier but I agree that, penalties aside, he's just not very good. I agree with the poster who said he cant tackle, it's true. He's a hot-head and a bit mental so people conflate that with him being a bit of a hard-case in defence but he just isn't. Sure it was Utd in the playoff where he bricked it for the goal allowing Murray in to score... Like Shagger says, O'Hara could have kicked on that day had he scored when he first burst onto the scene but he didn't, and his chance has gone. He can go along with Sheps and Loy at the end of the season. We need to look to win the league next season and the focus needs to be on quality, not quantity. There is no room for passengers like Muirhead, Sheps, O'Hara, Harris, Henderson, Kidd etc Hopefully there is another mini overhaul of the squad in the summer to build on the quality we do already have in the squad.
  14. Part of the problem just now is the lack of consequences for the players. The ones that are out of contract (most of the squad) don't care if we go down as they will continue to get paid regardless and get a new gig in the summer. There probably won't even be that much reputational damage as people will look from the outside and say the whole club was in dire straits. Hartley has struggled to motivate the players so far but I think this night be out his hands for the reason above. Clear out of the squad is a massive risk but needs to be done, with new faces in we'll get a better idea of how well he's doing at managing the team.
  15. I don't have a problem with this decision but all this talk about money spent on extra players is a bit premature. Have we not been losing about £100k a year most seasons and only player sales has put us in profit? If I'm correct, surely the saving in scrapping the academy just allows us to break even without relying on player sales? If so, scrapping the academy is unlikely to lead to a bigger playing budget, unless we are pushing the boat out and taking financial risks - which would seem bizarre given cost cutting the academy to blow it all on a gamble of promotion. Bit long-winded but basically I don't see this translating to multiple new players or a noticeably increased playing budget over the coming seasons.
  16. Baird strikes me as a stroppy wee fucker so I don't imagine he'll be happy to be backup all season. I'd clear out some more players as well but ultimately too many changes to the squad could have a negative impact for next season if it takes a while for them to gel. Its a balancing act but I'd really like to see us add some quality and push for the title next season.
  17. I was the same but actually, Magennis (who missed 1st leg), Boyd, Dicker and Addison are the only outfield players who were 6ft or above. As I said, it didn't help that we just punted high balls to them all game and it's true that we haven't added enough physically to the squad. However, that Killie side were nowhere near the most physical team we've came up against and I think because it was mentioned at the time, we're all a bit guilt of re-writing history about the cause of our demise in those games. We lost because we had a threadbare squad who ran out of steam (and ideas), and because they had Josh Magennis who was a step above anyone in our team.
  18. I think this is something that has been blown out of proportion from last year. Killie had a few bigger players in the 2nd leg like Magennis, Addison and Boyd but they also had guys like Obedayi, Kelty etc. We were dead on our feet and spend 180 mins punting aimless long balls which I think has distorted peoples memories.
  19. Juve get a dodgy decision for a change...
  20. Have to disagree with you there, for me it was not quite my tempo.
  21. Ghostbusters - 4/10 Thought this was pretty poor fair and surprised to see it has a relatively high rating on rotten tomatoes. The story was less interesting than the original, mainly because the bad guy was one of the worst characters I've seen on film. The way they had him reveal his plans by talking to himself in the mirror and drawing in his book was especially grim. The cameos from the original crew were pretty forced and totally unnecessary. I thought Leslie Jones was the best from a poor bunch of the main characters. I normally quite like Kristen Wiig and while she was ok, it was a fairly forgettable character. I also don't mind Melissa McCarthy but her shtick is becoming a bit boring now. Kate McKinnon was a mixed bag with some funny/bright moments but some of it was just way off point - like the pringles bit. Chris Hemsworth had some funny bits as well but on the whole was just a ludicrous character and actually quite sexist. I wasn't that fussed about the female Ghostbusters stuff that had been hitting the headlines before its release but it was a bit over the top to do a full role reversal. It was also ironic that they tried to make the film a feminist thing and yet, Janine in the original films, who was a strong female character, was replaced by the male version of a blonde bimbo. They would have been better just making a film with a mixed gender group and been a bit more subtle about things but then modern society seems a bit 'hit you with a sledgehammer' these days so I'm not surprised that it wasn't done that way. That said, despite the odd cool idea and bright moments, the film was ultimately a turd so changes to the make up of the cast would probably not have changed things too much. You cant polish a turd after all.
  22. Not surprised (especially in Ritchie) but hoped we had moved away from this kind of shady nonsense. The playing side of things are pretty stable at the moment so hope this gets dealt with swiftly as it's an unwelcome distraction. I'll not hold my breathe though... (sweep, sweep)
  23. Ooft. Pretty disappointing stuff to be honest as I was hoping the club had left all these types of boardroom shenanigans and surreptitious stuff in the past but I looks like not much has changed after all. Calls into question the funding for the fourth stand/offices then surely? Also, no surprise to see MR implicated as being a toad...
  24. Where is this letter online? I've no idea what you are all talking about?
