  1. If you look at the English pyramid it works pretty well and teams that have dropped out of the league have been able to get back into the league (Tranmere, Grimsby, Oxford). Often it is better for clubs who struggle in the bottom of the English leagues to go into the non league structure and become bigger fish in a smaller pond. A good example this season is Barrow who dropped out of the football league nearly 50 years ago and are now on the brink of getting back in with bigger crowds than they ever achieved as a football league club. They didn't disappear.I know it's different north of the border but as long as the Highland league and the Lowland league continue to develop as serious feeder leagues into the SPFL then I don't see why a well run club such as Brechin cannot be successful in the non league game and one day get back into the SPFL if the worst happens this season.
