  1. CSAFL Premier Division Drumchapel Utd/PYM 2 v 3 Wishaw High SChool FPs
  2. We played Shotts pre season ( I know we're just an amateur side ) but they were class. Should be a cracking game. All the best to both sides and hope its a cracker fir everybody in attendance.
  3. Dont assume that all these teams would want to play in the same league. One of the main reasons we moved from the old Lanarkshire League was there were too many teams from Wishaw in it at that time. Certainly wasn't the main reason but it was an issue. Memory isn't what it was but I'm sure there were 4 or 5 teams in Wishaw at that time and that was before Wishaw Wycombe were on the go. Wouldn't want to go back to those days.
  4. Of course its concerning for all as it wont just be happening in the CSAFL but in many leagues across the board. It nearly happened to Wishaw High School FPs 3 years ago and thankfully with the CSAFL's understanding, advice and guidance we managed to see it out till the end of that season . We got our new gaffer and coaching staff in that summer and have never looked back. We were fortunate and other teams on the brink may not have that bit of luck of pulling in players or securing sponsorship which could keep a struggling team afloat or not. Nobody wants to see clubs go to the wall. It happened to us in February and we'd been going for 57 years at that time. The amount of time a club has been going will make no difference if they have 1. No cash to run a football team or 2. No players to put a team on the pitch.
  5. We ( Wishaw High School FPs ) moved from the old Lanarkshire Association in 2007 and 2008 knowing that instead of heading up to the top end of Hamilton to play an Eddlewood or Low Waters or heading up to Airdrie to play Glenboig that we would now be travelling a bit further afield and this is true but in truth you are never really any further than an hour away from anywhere and we personally wouldn't want to go back to that playing all local teams. Yes it can be a pain in the arse midweek at the end of the season for a month or so but it would be no less of a pain playing localy in my opinion.
  6. Hadn't heard anything about that to be honest.
  7. Last nights League Cup Section group 8 result Uddingston Anvil 0 v 4 Wishaw High School FPs
  8. Spoke to many referees who have dealt with some of the central teams so far this pre season and they say they are by far the worst teams to ref. Obviously not all of them but a fair few. Is this what you're saying you've explained. With all due respect that doesn't explain anything. Just say's CSAFL teams are the worst teams to ref. I watched a junior game on Saturday, Lesmahagow Juniors v Royal Albert due to my mates son playing for Royal Albert. There must have been 7 or 8 bookings but I wouldn't say The Gow or Royal Albert would be worse teams to referee than any others, just a card happy referee. Typical Junior local derby, some tasty tackles but nothing malicious. So if there's nothing specific I really don't imagine CSAFL teams are any different to any other associations out there.
  9. What spescific disciplinary issues relating to CSAFL sides you are talking about as I haven't heard of any.
  10. Bawsoot the CSAFL is not about taking all the best teams in. They also take in teams who have been playing at differing levels of the amateur game and also from Sunday football and encouraging them to progress and find their feet. That level may well be in our 1st division and if so then so be it. We,ve been in the CSAFL probably 12 years or so now and have been promoted twice into the Premier but for the most part have spent our time in Division 1A and 1B. This allows you to find your feet originally then if you're relegated to regroup and go again. You'll always get teams who progress faster than others or stay the course of time longer. As Chris says a lot of this can be put down to a strong committee which unfortunately a lot of teams don't have.
  11. I agree with you re the horrendous prices for booking pitches etc and this is definetely got an impact on teams folding which is hard to swallow as all all of us want to do is get an amateur game of football on on whatever day of the week we play. This is no different whether you play in the CSAFL, Caledonian or wherever. I don't know why the 2 teams in the CSAFL have folded but the prices for pitches etc would be no shock to anybody trying to book pitches this season. Let's be honest the price of anything is not going to go down anytime soon so more and more teams will go to the wall. You only have to look at the matches that got called off pre season with teams looking on fb and twitter at the last minute for replacement teams for friendlies to see that boys have other things they would rather do than play football. Happened to us twice pre season. Don't know the answer to it but can't see the Local Councils dropping their prices just yet.
  12. You've made a comment there but left everybody scratching their heads as to what you're actually talking about re Central teams. Care to enlighten us ???
