Rangers and Celtic need to be rewarded for their continued success in the Scottish competition and to aid them to have better rest during their seasons a bye into the Last 16 would be an ideal reward, TV would be all for it i would imagine and it wouldn't change that much, I would have them seeded so they can't meet to at least the semi finals again for TV R1 & R2- All 8 Qualified Non League sides in the draw with all L1 and L2 sides. 4 byes in R1 for League 1 clubs R3 - 10 Championship, 10 Premier League sides join the 8 winners from the opening rounds for 14 ties R4 - Rangers and Celtic will join the competition This will provide an exciting (Replays will be back) and compact competition with a cut and throat Qualifying competition with another cut and throat opening competition to join the big 2 into the last 16. TV would love it, Fans would come back and Scottish Cup will be a lot more exciting again.

I actually don't think the Scottish Cup in its present format is fit for purpose I would bring back the Qualifying Cups so the Non-League sides have something to aim for in the opening months of the season Also have Rangers and Celtic have byes to the last 16 What do you think

And to the Albion Rovers fans who said he should have stayed.., Are you mental lol
-
He will learn a lot more playing for Burnley U23/B Team than Albion Rovers

Elgin need to go into the Highland League
-
I spoke to an Elgin fan and he said its better for the club to play in the Highland League next season and relaunch the club in that league.

Laughable. Elgin players are a disgrace and should never play for the club again. Jeanfield wasn't even that good.
-
Nice annual game. Hopefully a link up between the clubs so that Clach can benefit from what ICT can offer with youngsters, Training and use of staff. ICT could get a defracto B team involved.
-
Hibs 1-1 Aston Villa will be my prediction

I'm going to concede that the B Teams involvement in this competition should end this season. And it be replaced by a proper B team League where they play a number of matches against each other & an added clause of matches vs sides knocked out of Scottish Cup early rounds in friendly/training matches. Get the Challenge Cup back to what it was 30 clubs and the Highland/Lowland league champions. I personally want the League Cup back to a knock out format but for League Clubs only. Have the 1st round as 2 legs so that the "Lesser" Clubs will have another fixture. I'm an advocate of a B Team format but this needs to work ALONGSIDE the existing format and more partnerships can happen between B Sides and Lower league clubs for loan players and first options etc. Scotland is improving but it needs to do a bit more with youth. Playing in early rounds of the Challenge Cup in front of a few 100 isn't that type of development it needs. Over and out. I've got it wrong about the Challenge Cup
-
It should either - Be what it was for 30 clubs of the Championship to League 2 - All with B teams and Irish and Welsh Teams Which would you choose. Either way some Lower League fans didn't give a toss about the Challenge Cup before the B Teams were involved. Now they are pining for it

It's exciting and provides kids a good chance of playing Senior Football. I'm glad that this is continuing and will do so for a long time yet. No reason why it shouldn't really its a good trophy to win even if Lower League fans turn their nose up to it

This is a strawman argument and forgetting the Young scottish players
-
It's unknown but i want to give it a chance and the amount of "Dislikes" i've got for every post hasn't even changed my mind. I'm a massive fan of B teams and i see the benefit. It's understandable why people dislike them but for smaller countries its needed to ensure a better pathway for Footballers to develop better for the benefit of Scotland but has i say all this will take time to bed in

Very interesting idea.
-
Youth Football is enhanced by B teams as they can have development under 21/22 as opposed to 18/19. It gives proper game time and allows progression is a good environment. If Rangers/Celtic release them it will be good for the teams around as they get ready players for progession of their own squads rather then 18/19 who might be inexperienced. All good and B Teams of course are a feeder to the main squad enable the same tactics, Training. Scotland will benefit from this but of course it will take a lot of time and effort to beat fruit
-
Nope. I'm a massive fan of B teams and ensuring Youth Development.
-
Can't wait for this to start
-
This is the case. People are also frightened of change
-
Smaller Clubs who will just sit around the Highland/Lowland level. Ambitious teams will get promoted anyway even if there are a number of B teams involved, So that's a bit of a cop out I be honest. I want Rangers & Celtic to be more European Powerhouses and B teams is a step (However minor) towards that. I

This is where education will come into it.

They are playing matches that matter Against players where it means more then its each age group or youth. B teams will produce youngsters for other clubs as well and works better in other countries then the flawed loan system.
