  1. As a fan of the Tudor Black Bay range I’ve been keeping an eye on Nomadic Watches from Belfast. Finally took the plunge on this black shamrock Ltd edition of their Marai BB homage a couple of weeks back. Very pleased with it. Certainly not as solid feel as the Tudors (esp the bezel) and clearly the movement is much lower quality - although Swiss sourced - but generally very tidy. Really like the small nods to Belfast such as the second hand in the same colour as the H&W cranes. First micro brand purchase and probably not the last. They also do a decent homage to a Grand Seiko White Birch. Shown on the green/gold fabric strap, but the steel bracelet is also nice.
  2. I bought my first “fancy” watch recently. It was a Tudor and I’m delighted with it. Looks good, feels good, tells the time. Couldn’t care less about the brand and have no time for luxury end watch dealer nonsense like waiting lists etc
  3. No one is saying they are wearing a mask in the street. Not like you to sensationalise a perfectly rational comment / position on this…
  4. Could it be they are planning to travel in the next week or so? I’m off at the end of this week with the family and we’ll all be masked up for the airport and flight. Screw getting covid on the way to the beach. If wearing a FFP2 mask can reduce the chances by 10% or more then I for one am happy to put up with the abuse.
  5. As a Rovers/Man U supporter its been a tough season. At times I’ve been very close to falling out of love with the game. So thanks Aaron Ramsey, Sevco and the Orc Hordes for reigniting my love of the game with one missed penalty. GIRUY
  6. Just back from a week in France snowboarding flying via Geneva. Only use of masks was on the plane. No one asked for proof of vaccination, the negative LFT tests for the kids (not vaccinated) which therefore ended up being a total waste of money and time, or indeed the pointless French declaration. Felt great to be pretty much back to normal at long last.
  7. This season can’t end soon enough. I still can’t face going to Starks after the GW fiasco - which is a bit of a blessing given the teams slow and now complete capitulation since October. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so disinterested in football as I do now. The loss of big Frank was another sucker punch. Seems the soul of the club has been sucked out. Even McGlynn is on very shaky ground after todays result. Unthinkable. On the positive side this whole situation has shown that whilst you might be able to commit rape and avoid a prison sentence in Scotland, society has changed and there are consequences, quite significant consequences, that you are likely to face. Having read the full civil case notes I think situations like that happen every week in the towns and cities across Scotland but go unnoticed and unpunished. Shameful. Hopefully the spotlight and strong stance taken over DW might deter future potential rapists. That would be one silver lining from this sh*t show. I honestly don’t know where we go from here. We’re in a cup final and I don’t care. The board continue to arrange deckchairs on the Titanic as the ship slowly sinks. It strikes me that the only people associated with the club to show any leadership through this whole situation are not in decision making positions and surely that has to change. Filling a board with old accountants and having a puppet CEO is not a recipe for successful leadership. If Simm isn’t going to return to Kirkcaldy and get involved day to day then he sure as hell needs to find some new leaders on and off the pitch.
  8. I’m really warming to Ukrainian farmers.
  9. It’s not just us. Remember the Americans and their “Freedom Fries”. Embarrassing.
  10. Hard to know what to write. Just feel very sad and more than a little shocked that the management and ownership of our club has taken this frankly despicable decision. As a dad who has enjoyed taking his daughters to Rovers games over the years and who would like to continue to share the joy of football with his kids, there is no way I can do so with a clear conscience whilst we condone rape and assault by offering DG a contract. Someone who has shown zero remorse for his actions and continues to have a callous disregard for the impact of his actions on that poor girl. As with Greenwood I’m also sure it’s the tip of the iceberg. What do I tell my daughters? What kind of example is this setting? Have we traded our morals and hard earned community respect for a few extra goals and a slightly better chance at promotion? I’d rather another 10 years in the seaside leagues than this desperate and ill judged decision Until DG is fired into the sea and the board/management apologise for this shocking lack of judgement I won’t be back at Starks or supporting the club financially. A sad, sad day.
  11. Been in crypto for 7 years and the only lesson learnt is don’t ever assume anything! I also tend not to speak to others about it unless they already have a similar level of interest and depth of knowledge. Would feel pretty low if someone lost money they can’t afford because of something I told them.
  12. Was on a whisky field trip yesterday to Aberfeldy, Blair Athol and Robertson’s Whisky Shop in Pitlochry (Ewan there is a top guy and is happy to share samples). Aberfeldy is a great visitor experience. 6 drams in the tasting of which the 25 year old Dewars blend was a very pleasant surprise. The 18 year old Brackla special edition also very good. Unfortunately the “straight from the cask” 28 year old Aberfeldy was way too dry and heavy on the Sherry for my liking and with a bit of sulphur. Blair Athol was consistent with other Diageo distilleries I’ve visited, which is to say the experience was consistently poor. A very dull tasting, where out of 5 drams the Talisker distillers edition was the standout. The host was ok, but far more interested in getting us to the shop ASAP than making the experience fun/entertaining or informative. Ended up with an indie 13 year old Craigellechie from Robertson’s to take home.
  13. Yes. Have had one on the go for about 5 years now using an old bottle of Hibiki 17 which with the labels removed makes an excellent recycled decanter. Over time it has ebbed and flowed from pretty much undrinkable, to amazing and back again. It’s great fun, a real talking point and interesting to experiment with the various additions. My top tip is avoid starting with anything too peaty. I had about 20% Octomore in my first blend and it destroyed any other flavours in the mix! Oh and keep a wee note of everything you put in, it’s really interesting to look back on

    Week 5

Yes and yes. Enjoy if you are going next week. Great stadium. Shame about the Jets…
  15. Yes. Was planning to head over to NY for a first trip to Met Life this year, but Covid/Biden has put paid to that plan. Ended up splashing out for the whole family to see the Jets in London instead. Was at the Miami game a few years back and was a great experience. A similar score this time round would be grand… no Fitzmagic though! You’ll have a great time!
  16. Was down at the Caird Hall getting my second dose of that sweet AZ goodness. Looking at the number of ticks next to names on the receptionists lists I’d say about 20% attendance rate for appointments. No one in the queue for walk ins either - probably because everyone in Dundee either has Covid or is isolating right now.
  17. I bloody love Little Shop of Horrors*, but that has ruined any enjoyment I’ll ever have from it in future. * one of only two musicals I will tolerate, the other being Beauty and the Beast.
  18. My 14 year old off school today with a head cold. Other half insistent yesterday she needs tested… so we go through to the drive in PCR place and get her tested. Also got a load of lateral flow tests to take home. Lateral flow negative PCR back this morning negative Other kid had the same cold last week as did half of her primary. I find this claim very very dubious. Is this data reliant on the public self testing and self reporting symptoms? If so I think we can file this under propaganda.
  19. Talking of classic 80s designs I used to have this Japanese import Supercharger MK1 MR2. Best looking hairdressers motor ever IMHO Still regret selling it.
  20. If you haven't been already, take her with you and she'll get seen. Thanks Aidan, we did just that and happy to report we are now both vaccined up to our eyeballs! one small step and all that....
  21. Have my 1st shot today so looking forward to joining the club and celebrating with a beer or two later. Anyone know what the state of play is at the Caird Hall? My wife has her date next week, but am thinking it might be worth her joining me to see if she can’t get done at the same time given the amount of no shows reported.
  22. Got the email to confirm this just now. Looks like all Glasgow Virgin flights for the summer season canned. Disappointing given we’ll all have had at least our first vaccine by then and the US is finally ramping up their vaccination program too. Speaking with the Mrs the biggest concern is not getting the virus, but getting stuck over there/having to formally quarantine with the US switching from a green list country to a red. Virgin have kindly rebooked us automatically from Manchester - I think not! Will be cancelling and rebooking on BA via Heathrow. Feel for the airlines though. This must be a nightmare.
  23. Do you have a source for this? I have Orlando flights rolled over from last year and was hoping that they’d still be on. Can’t see any news, but it does look like the June and July departures have been removed.
