  1. Now come on Joey, you can clearly see that person is considerably younger than both of us..
  2. Motherwell fans are really annoyed at other teams doing what they tried to do, but are doing it better. That's got to hurt, which explains their tear stained posts in this thread. As for the game? Who knows. Whatever happens though, we know that this will be the last game between the clubs, so once it's over Motherwell can continue their battle against relegation candidates while we look out our passports.
  3. While disappointing, the result is a bit of an outlier. We really don't lose that badly all that often, and in my mind this result is the yin to the yang of the Aberdeen comeback. Shame about the GD but we play Motherwell next game while they are at Hearts. I'd say our game is mildly easier, although not by much, but it's just as likely that we could swap places by this time next week.
  4. Yes, you did swallow it, and quickly too. I'm impressed how quickly you were ensnared. You really should have seen the "imo" and realised you were walking into bait. How's the battle for 10th going? I hear you finally won a league game. I'm proud of you lads, well done.
  5. Aberdeen fans all over St Mirren threads, it's pretty embarrassing at this point imo.
  6. I'll not lie, this did not go as I had hoped. This result just shows you the classic highs and lows of being a provincial club. We have a brilliant comeback against Aberdeen, Aberdeen then beat Killie in the cup, then Killie have a brilliant comeback against us. You just have to laugh at the way things work out. Ultimately, the only real disappointment is the goal difference, a few weeks ago, we were just behind Killie in 4th, the other week we jumped ahead of them, and now we've fallen behind. They have a harder game than us next league fixture so it's possible next week we will see the situation reverse. Does make you wonder if Killie would have preferred the cup win than this league one. Got to say, I did have a laugh at people taking a dig on social media at Robinson's line up, who were then left eating their words come half time only for them to suddenly flip-flop back to hating again.
  7. I'll not lie, this is going better than I hoped. I was expecting a close affair, with only a goal separating us at the 90. To be two goals up, one from Dunne(!) is certainly pleasant. Calm yourself, lots to play for yet, all this game changes is we have a slightly better chance of getting top 6.
  8. You've missed the point, it's that specific reference. It's an awful film, starring a racist, that is embarrassingly jingoistic while being historically inaccurate.
  9. Is it? Is it really? A previous long-term employee being discussed when the position is available? Ok, then, I'll trust you... I mean you must surely know what Cormack is going to do, so why not let us know the name of your manager now. Why wait for it to be officially announced?
  10. The lad was with you for 8 years, and many would consider that tenure 'more successful' than those who have followed. He's currently leading a team that not only sits above you in the league, but you've failed to beat this season. Yet it's strange and doesn't make sense when he's linked? What are you expecting here? Ferguson to come out of retirement and lead you back to the glory days? I'm not saying that he will get the job, I'm saying he is probably the top domestic target, along with Robinson and/or a returning McInnes, assuming Clement, Rodgers and Naismith are well out of your price range. That said, I admire you relying on Cormack making an 'unstrange' appointment and one that 'makes logical sense'... you know, like the last one.
  11. No, I'm talking shit, because I was sure the Viking game they played in was "last century" - in my mind it was mid 90s. It was literally at the start of this century. I tell you, age really fucks with your memory
  12. Entschuldigung fur mein mangelndes wissen.. (yes, I double checked on Google Translate but my first attempt at it was not far wrong!) I've travelled all over Europe and certainly encountered that sort of sentiment without people realising they are referencing an entirely fictional Hollywood film (starring a racist wee piece of shit) rather than history. It's no surprise Germany is part of that. It's a bit of a constant bug bear of mine when abroad and it's never easy explaining in a foreign language why something is bad. I mean at it's (brave)heart, it's quite a flattering image really. The tenacious underdogs fighting against a foe invading their land, it's just a shame it's total horseshit.
  13. He's been with Dundee for just over 6 months, he was at Aberdeen for nigh on eight years. I mean I get the point you are making, but 8 years is a long time. He also said this when joining you, "One of the things I've picked up in my career ... is go with your gut, and the gut feeling for this one feels right." which suggests he could choose Aberdeen over you simply for the challenge, as he might have a "gut feeling" that he is the man to fix the problems that have happened after he left them. If I was Cormack and I was looking around for the best manager at the cheapest price, then Docherty probably doesn't fit into that category because I cannot believe Nelms (or whoever is running Dundee now) would offer up Docherty on the cheap. Not sure of his contract but I can't believe Dundee only tied him down to one year. That is the only reason I can see Cormack not going for Docherty.
  14. To be fair, I'd be pissed at that question too. Tell you what Fritz, I'll don the kilt and shout some nonsense on a hillside, when you lot all wear Boss designed uniforms and march across the Sudetenlang. How do you like pathetic national tropes now, Fritz? Not so good, aye?
  15. My guess is a schmoke and a pancake. As for the game.. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ..could go either way. Like us, their best performances come at home, and like them our worst performances are away. They've got a bit of an advantage in recent head to heads, and in McInnes you have a manager who has constantly done well against us (St Johnstone, Aberdeen and now Killie) even though our sides have changed drastically over that period of time. That said, if we aren't to make it, then I certainly don't begrudge Killie from doing so. Sure, their club crest has the red hand of Ulster on it, and they do like so copy Rangers songs, but in general I don't mind Killie at all. One minor nit-pick and it's nothing to do with the teams but the BBC write up, their claim of: "With the three teams above these two in the table all in the Scottish Cup semi-finals, the chances are very good that fifth will offer up Europe, an arena where St Mirren last played in 1987 and Killie have been just twice this century." Anyone else see the error there? Ignore the above, I'm talking shit.
  16. I love how people who want to shil for plastic always cherry pick a bad pitch in order to compare. Sure, a grass pitch in Scottish will suffer from our inclement climate. I don't think anyone is denying that a good plastic pitch in winter is better than a bad grass one. That said, the grass does not need to be bad, that is mostly down to costs* and the randomness of modern climate change. However there is absolutely nobody arguing that Hampden should be ripped up and replaced by plastic. Why? Because "club chairmen, club managers and club captains" already "know the the realities of Scottish Synthetic and Grass surfaces". Those realities is that no matter how hard you try, you will never convince fans or players that plastic, when in a direct comparison, is better than grass. (* I mentioned in my previous post that costs should be covered, or at least assisted, by SPFL and/or SFA, however the plastic grass lot found that idea so egregious that they felt the need to down vote against it, suggesting some of those who support plastic do so ideologically and not based on the evidence at hand)
  17. In regard to Robinson, I am totally zen with him possibly picking up another job. We have to accept that, like players, managers are a sellable asset. We don't want to lose players and we don't want to lose coaching staff, we do want to make money though. Of course, I'm blasé because we are in a good position, the club looks attractive should we lose this manager. I feel my outlook would be different if we were lower league mid-table and Robinson had turned us around and was heading for a Championship victory (a lá Ross) and he was whipped away from us.
  18. Oh, no... there won't be space for a commercialised version of pagan ritual, or celebrating the incorrect date of the dubious birth of a hateful and bigoted religion?
  19. Just looking back at when he signed, he was a Goodwin purchase (Jan 22) with Robinson arriving in Feb. In the reporting at the time, Goodwin stated that they'd been after him for a while. I think Greive is very much a Goodwin player and it's no surprise that he ended up going to United, here is what Goodwin said about him arriving with us.. "He's brings creativity, he's a little bit different to some of the other strikers we have at the moment, he's quite dynamic and he's a decent footballer so we're excited to have him involved," Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but I'm not sure if he was overly "creative" or "a little bit different". I think a settled run of games would do him the world of good and he didn't really get that with us, nor with United it seems. Minor Edit: Although we don't have full visibility on how he reacted to being benched/dropped, he never publicly came out and complained. It's notable that on the pitch too, he's not someone who gives up due to lack of motivation. Both of those factors should hint at his personality, which goes in his favour.
  20. Do you mean that literally, because it's in the section you quoted, or is that in the figurative sense? Figuratively it's a question you could ask for every single thing in football. Referees? Where is the money coming from to pay them? Floodlights so players can see? Where is the money coming from to pay for them? etc... It would be a considerable financial burden for a small club to come up and be forced to spend money on a grass pitch because the league rules state you need one. Yet, if we also accept that a well maintained grass pitch is the best option to play football on then the league should help that club out. I think we would all prefer to see money being put into clubs, it's just that the pervasive late stage capitalist model we see ourselves forced to endure doesn't allow investment without financial return. Me? I'm happy arguing that RoI is not tangible and that it is an existential issue rather than a financial one.
  21. Yes we should "ban" artificial pitches, because a properly maintained grass pitch is always superior to a fake one. That said, artificial pitches have their uses, especially further down the leagues where money is extremely tight and forking out (ha, pun!) cash for a grass pitch when you'll not have the money to maintain it seems daft. On the flip side, a bad grass pitch can be much worse than a good artificial one. Artificial surfaces are much better then previously. I remember despising Hamilton's plastic pitch because the ball movement was very clearly different. So, top division, no plastic, lower leagues can have them. Here is the rub for those who feel I am being harsh on plastic surface clubs, I suggest that the SPFL funds the pitch cost of converting a plastic pitch to grass for any club wishing to compete in the premiership. In my mind a good quality grass pitch enhances our game, so spending money on such things should be considered an acceptable cost.
  22. Warnock doing what every Brexiteer does; claim the job was a success when it clearly wasn't, say everyone is happy with what you did when they weren't, then walk away leaving a shambles for someone else to try and tidy up while claiming this was always the plan and the mess is either "other people's fault" or "just bad luck". Either way, Warnock will not be "Hibs'ing it", however we now have a new term... -- Warnocked /wɔːr'nɒkˈdiː/ (verb) 1. To demonstrate a complete lack of awareness of the club you are managing, making the team worse, all the time supported by the 'old boy network' in the media. Example: "We've got a new manager, I really hope he doesn't Warnock this whole thing" --
  23. I said it had Malky "vibes", but if you want me to be entirely clear with what I am saying.. If you supported Brexit, specifically the way it was framed, then the simple fact is you did support bigotry and racism. Am I accusing everyone who voted for Brexit as being a racist or bigot? No, but in the same way you don't need to be a bigot or racist to support Trump, but supporting Trump supports bigots and racists.
