  1. IMO.. it's a real double edged sword, and I am sure someone will have mentioned this already, but if you are small-ish team and you have a sugar daddy put money into the club, it's going to trigger fair play rules. With clubs like Rangers and Celtic they can put that money in knowing their revenue covers that and while it's not enough to trigger fair play it will be more than enough to create a huge gap between the OF and every other team. Have fair play and you can't have large investments in small clubs, remove fair play and you just increase the gap between the "haves" and "not haves".
  2. Not read all the replies but in terms of St Mirren the classic must be either Hammarby in Europe or against Rangers in the cup. Both of those were really tough to take. What I would say is that there is a flip side to this, where we do tend to pull out a result when we need it. Either the Motherwell 3-2 game or Hearts 1-0 games to avoid relegation springs to mind, or as just about any Saints fans remember, that crazy result that kept us in the Championship, can't remember off the top of my head who that was against, but I think either Stirling Albion or Arbroath. If we lost that game we'd have been relegated to the 3rd tier of Scottish football for the first time.
  3. How is Atkinson getting on? He's one for the future, I get that, but I am surprised that Australia called him up but not Strain (both playing RB). This isn't because Strain is with us, and Atkinson is with you, but (admittedly, while fit) Strain was showing far more than Atkinson.
  4. Wasn't the extension already in his contract? I thought it was a club triggered year extension. Either way, he's proven he has the talent, so this is all good.
  5. Indeed, I'm so irrelevant you felt the need to make a post about it. I didn't realise I was such 'box office' with Hearts fans, but it seems that way.
  6. Planes can operate with reliability at considerably higher winds than a small inflatable bit of plastic.. Neither do you it seems. I pointed out that Hearts fans would relish beating us, because they would. Why Vincent wished to argue that point is beyond me as all the evidence shows that to be the case. To then flounce off claiming I was the one arguing the point, is laughable, especially as it came in response to him claiming such notions are out of date and no longer relevant, despite the post being from 2020. The short answer is if you dislike me posting then don't encourage it by arguing with me about a point that is obvious.
  7. The problem with embedded tweets is that they show the date they were posted. That said, could we all stop using twitter, it's a fucking cesspool of racist c*nts and weirdos.
  8. Got to say, I know nothing of Keyes. I appreciate this is an Aberdeen thread, but which of your managers did he recommend/appoint? There was some nonsense when Nelms was love bombing Jack Ross but it obviously came to nothing, was that Keyes too? In terms of recent appointments, you have to be really happy with Docherty. So whoever scouted/recommended/approached should get the credit for that, unless perhaps Docherty actively applied for the job and he more or less fell into Dundee's lap.
  9. Burrows must look a bright light at this moment. He got a lot of good press while at Motherwell, and he comes across as a fairly even minded guy in the media. Considering the mess Cormack has gotten into with bad appointment after bad appointment (you could argue Glass, Goodwin and Robson were worth the gamble, I suppose), the idea that he has someone who seems to genuinely understand how to approach and appoint a manager must be a positive.
  10. The story was in the Daily Mail, which is totally on brand for Warnock considering his political leanings , but it was behind a firewall so I didn't see the whole story, just the first paragraph. I think it's now at a Simpson's meme stage, "stop it... he's already dead" when it comes to Aberdeen just now. You are pretty unlikely to get dragged into the relegation zone, albeit how funny that might end up being , and you are not making the top 6. You are going to be left in no-man's land with dead rubber games, leaving all the talk to centre on the manager and Cormack. As an Aberdeen fan I'd be wanting this season over as soon as possible.
  11. I grew up seeing us in the top 6 regularly. In fact, it was expected, so you can imagine the 20 odd years we yo-yo'd between the bottom of the premier and the championship was a bit of a wake up call. I understand why people are nervous about the top 6, and that includes players and staff - even if they don't admit it, but there shouldn't be this imaginary bar we need to jump. This side is more than capable of maintaining our top 6 standing and in Robinson we have a manager who not only managed it last season, but has a history with other Scottish teams getting to that position.
  12. Warnock claiming that he quit Aberdeen because he was, "worried of taking money under false pretences", is a pretty brutal self own.
  13. Totally agree, I really hate seeing games played in high wind, especially if it is swirling. Most things you can mitigate. Bad pitch, rain or snow, or even limited visibility with fog, but high wind is the worst. As for games cancelled, wasn't the Celtic/Caley Thistle cup game not cancelled for that? I think part of the stadium came down. Some years back though.
  14. How old were you when your tannoy announcer (or whoever it was) went on their salty, tear-stained, rant?
  15. I don't have any great animus towards Hearts either. Yet living in Edinburgh for about 5 years it was clear to me that St Mirren lives rent free in many Hearts fans minds. "Wanting your team to win", and, "holding a grudge against another team for your own teams' failings" are two different things, they aren't mutually exclusive though.
  16. Sure thing bud, I mean the litany of comments on this forum certainly wouldn't suggest Hearts fans have a particular, and irrational, dislike for us. Happy to quote all the times Hearts fans have, both on here, on kickback or on twitter made ridiculous comments.
  17. Considering the way your fans react to games between us? Yes, yes I do. You would fucking love for that scenario to come about, and you'd crow like nobody's business if it were to happen, so stop trying to pretend you wouldn't.
  18. Hearts are absolutely there for the taking... ..as are we, though! I'm sure the club won't put too much stock in this, but the opportunity to "repay us" for relegating them while stopping us hitting top 6, with the chance that Hibs replace us thus giving them a derby before the end of the season, must get the Hearts fans moist. Even if there is only a slim chance of that happening.
  19. Now come on Joey, you can clearly see that person is considerably younger than both of us..
  20. Motherwell fans are really annoyed at other teams doing what they tried to do, but are doing it better. That's got to hurt, which explains their tear stained posts in this thread. As for the game? Who knows. Whatever happens though, we know that this will be the last game between the clubs, so once it's over Motherwell can continue their battle against relegation candidates while we look out our passports.
  21. While disappointing, the result is a bit of an outlier. We really don't lose that badly all that often, and in my mind this result is the yin to the yang of the Aberdeen comeback. Shame about the GD but we play Motherwell next game while they are at Hearts. I'd say our game is mildly easier, although not by much, but it's just as likely that we could swap places by this time next week.
  22. Yes, you did swallow it, and quickly too. I'm impressed how quickly you were ensnared. You really should have seen the "imo" and realised you were walking into bait. How's the battle for 10th going? I hear you finally won a league game. I'm proud of you lads, well done.
  23. Aberdeen fans all over St Mirren threads, it's pretty embarrassing at this point imo.
