  1. We've been waiting for that McGinn loot to drop for years now! I'm going to be honest, I'm not sure he'll move. Villa are up the top end of the league, they are a big club, Emry has them playing very well, and the word from McGinn is that he's loving being there.
  2. It's not a bad problem to have, "how high up will we end up?", rather than, "how low will we end up?" I also think that Euro qualification shouldn't interrupt the search for players we'll use in the domestic league. We can start putting out feelers now, if they haven't already been put out, knowing if we do qualify it would be a case of just adding numbers, rather than searching for the core of a team.
  3. In an ideal world? Nothing. This is the OF we are talking about, I am unsure how much money is generated from their European runs (someone will no doubt post it) but it's not nothing. I wouldn't put it past the OF to claim that if the SFA allow them to qualify as a Scottish team in Europe, they'd offer more of a cut of that money. After all, if they are in the English leagues they'll not need the money generated from Europe (unless they get deep into it). What's more I wouldn't put it past the SFA to take that offer and bemoan anyone complaining by telling us how much money will be put into "the youth system" or "grassroots football" or something similar. I also wouldn't put it past the OF to try and push for English league entry, all the while campaigning for their B team to be promoted into the SPFL league. After all, if there is only one Rangers or Celtic team playing within the SFA structure, even if it's just the B team, then where is the conflict? All this sounds like conspiracy nonsense. You'd expect UEFA to block such a move and in turn you'd hope the SFA wouldn't capitulate if such a crazy scenario, but if this is how it all unfolded... would you be surprised?
  4. For the fans, it's an absolute riot! For the club, maybe less so...
  5. Doesn't it open another can of worms though, "do we budget for Europe", "We can't decide until the final day". I mean it's a hell of a nicer problem to have than "will we still be in this league", which we've faced a few times.
  6. I've got sympathy, you read my posts and they can look like some illiterate buffoon wrote it (insert your own joke here..! ), but yeah even though this is a simple and easy mistake to make (they were talking Dundee, had Dens Park in their heads) it's pretty damning considering it's the BBC.
  7. Dundee's loss really gives us some breathing space as it looks like 5th will be for Europe. Although they do have a game in hand. Whether we want to enter Europe at that level (no pre-season, possible long journeys, no real revenue generated) is a different matter.
  8. Nice, instead of worrying that you would need to support Hibs, you flip it so it's dependent on Hibs fans supporting Rangers. Devious!
  9. Oh, dear, apparently Dundee could finish in the top 6 by beating the side that plays at Dens Park, which are.. *checks notes* ..Dundee. Insightful stuff as ever! I get it, it's a live feed, errors will happen, and let's be honest I make tons of mistakes on here myself, but this is written by a journalist employed by the country's national broadcaster.
  10. To be fair, our pre-post split "gameplan" seems to revolve around downing tools and hoping we have enough to glide into a decent league position.
  11. Now the question I have is... are Hearts fans going to be cheering on Hibs against Motherwell, and hope they replace Dundee in 6th, so that you have a final derby for the season, or is it a case of point and laugh and to hell with a derby payday?
  12. Those farmer types, great bunch of lads, so they are...
  13. So Killie won, Hearts won, that's the bad news, but... ..Motherwell and St Johnstone winning has "given" us the top 6. Just got to keep Dundee at arms length, and hopefully pull back the distance between us and Killie. There is a 6 pointer coming up, but honestly I think our faltering form has probably put rest to a 4th place.
  14. I thought this would end up in a draw, and without having a second look at the Hearts penalty decision I'd say I was right, and the ref thought otherwise! Still, the means justify the ends, and other results make this nothing more than an annoyance rather than a killer.
  15. 31yo, whose injury problems made his 2022/2023 season look like this.. Not for me thanks.
  16. Like has been said by a few people, and I agree with it, it only take a bit of a swirling wind to ruin a game. However the SPFL are clearly desperate for this game to go on, same for the Dundee one, down to the split being so close.
  17. I mean, sure, if misogyny and casual racism are the things you find "chucklesome".
  18. It's really nice weather in Govan just now. A little overcast, but warm and no wind. Looking at the weather system.. https://i.imgur.com/TGqKBKV.jpg ..then the live data.. https://i.imgur.com/etiBXv3.jpg It's certainly looking tasty.
  19. From those stats, Mandron has played 19 games, Murray 30 games. I've not taken a deep dive into how much actual pitch time, but they look comparable. Kiltie is definitely closer to Murray in games played but he is not a second striker, in the way that Murray is being described as. On the flip side, County are a poorer side hampered by having an idiot in charge of them for a while.
  20. Without knowing what the stats regarding the chances made by other players, I cannot say whether 35 is good or not. It's clearly not zero, which would be very bad. 35 chances over 30 games is just over one chance per game. Are you saying we have players that are worse than that?
  21. I guess the ghost of Curtis Main hangs over any striker we bring in. Under Goodwin he was a waste of space, under Robinson he was a reformed character that banged in the goals. If Robinson thinks Murray is just a copy of Main, then I suppose we should be hopeful of Murray joining us.
  22. Wasn't he touted to join you lot? If so, what was the reason he didn't?
  23. He has had a great season, that's true, but he's 32 and no guarantee he'll keep that up. What's more he is being played constantly by RC, he's only missed one or two games all season, and we know that constant playing increases confidence and output. Do you think Robinson will be willing to play him every game? I've gotten my fingers burnt questioning Robinson's recruitment, but he is a hugely uninspiring target imo.
  24. Simon Murray? As in Simon Murray from Ross Country? Colour me unimpressed. Obvs, the game is now one of statistics, so perhaps all his numbers match up to what we need, but jinkies..
