  1. And there's Fort William's Claggan Park of course - with the view of Ben Nevis.
  2. My local side Inverurie Locos has a concrete works behind one goal, which towers over the ground, with a chute coming down at an angle from the highest point. Campbeltown Pupils has a helipad next door. I wish I'd used it to get to the game I did there - there and back in a day from home was a blummin' long drive !
  3. Although Dyce's Ian Mair Park is not far from Aberdeen airport, it's Stoneywood-Parkvale's that is literally at the end of the runway. When they're landing and taking off during a match, you have to stop yourself automatically wanting to duck.
  4. Remaining R3 ties due Saturday 11th March, 2pm KOs Hurlford United v Drumchapel United Ashfield v St Roch's - AT SPRINGBURN PARK ASTRO (where Finnart play). Ashfield have been playing home games away from Saracen Park, at Stepford Football Centre (where Easterhouse FA play). No Eastehouse FA home game on that the same day, so anybody know why this cup tie isn't at Stepford? Or have Ashfield decided to leave Stepford and use a different non-Saracen-Park venue for their remaining home games?...
  5. Yes there is. I attended a Bonar Bridge home game at the end of the North Caley season that had been due for the Saturday but was brought forward to the midweek and played under lights at borrowed Golspie. When I asked why, the Bonar Bridge club official told me that he had had to do that move because the players had told him that they were off to their summer clubs (the primary football up there) and he'd have had insufficient left for the fixture had it remained on the Saturday.
  6. ...not after Dundonald Bluebell refused to play on plastic on Saturday ! Shotts boss: Dundonald Bluebell were 'cute' with pitch switch 'shambles' - Daily Record It'll be interesting to see what happens next.
  7. The way your post reads. you haven't yet decided whether to fork out £18. If you haven't already forked out £18, you're too late. This is a tickets-in-advance match, not decide at the last minute and then pay on the gate.
  8. Anybody know why all Ashfield's remaining home games (from 21st January) are listed as at Stepford, rather than at Saracen Park ? Have the Speedway kicked them out ?
  9. Hope you're right. But the big bad world of televised football doesn't work like that. THEY dictate what day & time clubs shall dance to the piper's tune, not what is preferred by either/both clubs, and with no consideration whatsoever of the inconvenience to travelling fans.
  10. WoSFL fixtures page and SFA Refs' Appointments both say 1:30pm. Graphics on both clubs' social media says 2pm. Anybody know which is correct? (makes a difference to me - 1:30 would work for me re a later commitment, 2pm would be too late for me to honour that)
  11. Anybody know what's happening with St Peter's v Thorn Athletic due this Saturday, 19th Nov? - day / time / venue change? Because Renfrew are Home on New Western Park, in the South Challenge Cup, v Cumnock, 1:30 ko. Thanks.
  12. Thorn Athletic v Campbeltown Pupils this Saturday (1st October) is listed as at Ferguslie Park (3G pitch, Glenvale). Same venue Thorn used for their previous Home game, having used different ones for each of their first 3 Home fixtures. I had thought Thorn's own revamped pitch might have been ready in time for this one - posts on social media commented that it had already grown enough to have been cut a few times.
  13. Ashfield v St Ant's this Saturday (1st October) will be played at the Donald Dewar Centre (Drumchapel United, 3G pitch) and with a 3pm KO. Because there's a rearranged speedway meeting (playoff semi final) at Saracen Park on Saturday afternoon.
  14. and J&D Pierce was bought by a Swedish company this summer, with a Swede now the chairman. No surprise that a new boss wants to distance the company from such bad publicity.
  15. Fraserburgh United's reply to me asking them : "We were notified that vics fielded a suspended player. They have a week to appeal. We will find out at the start of next week what is happening."
  16. Rossvale v Auchinleck Talbot gets the standard R2 Saturday use of New Petershill Park, with Petershill v Irvine Meadow being played 8 days early on Friday 16th, 8:15pm. Sensible, since Petershill & Medda would otherwise be sitting idle that weekend, with both's league fixture opponents (Kilwinning & Darvel) on Big Scottish duty instead.
  17. Thorn Athletic kindly answered my 2 questions : 1) How long until your own pitch is ready after the works there? "It will depend on the weather/grass growth." 2) Will Home games continue to be at Keanie Park until then? "No confirmed venues for other games but hoping to stay locally."
  18. The match couldn't just be a reversed Saturday fixture, since Renfrew are home on New Western Park that afternoon. Anybody know whether Thorn Athletic will be a) using Keanie Park for other home matches until their own pitch is ready? or whether b) they'll just be reversing fixtures until then? Thanks.
  19. Is this one still at Duncansfield, to which it was moved when Cumbernauld United were expected to be on Guy's Meadow at the same time? There's no word to the contrary. Because CU (presumably hand-in-hand with Blantyre Vics) have got Kennie's blessing to run away to Monday night to avoid the Cup Final, so that ought to make Guy's Meadow available to KRR on Saturday after all.
  20. The Portree v Highland Hospice R1 tie was PPd because of the Portree funeral of local shinty legend Donnie Martin, killed in a car crash. It had been hoped that the tie would be played on Saturday 21st May instead, but Highland Hospice (Inverness & District bottom division) have scratched, unable to raise a side.
  21. Yes, Eriskay v Benbecula had been moved. It was due to have been at Southend FC (Daliburgh). Eriskay's pitch can be challenged as to whether it satisfies the regulations of the Highland Amateur Cup. I remember Barra made them move a HACUP game a few seasons back because of that, although happy enough to play them there in the league. Re "some long journeys ahead" for R2. Neutral venues half-way may be used in some cases. We will see... Thanks for the effort to chase down results quicker than their official publication. All the best.
  22. I haven't checked all the others, but one of your R1 results is mistaken : It wasn't Eriskay 3-6 Benbecula Eriskay scratched (couldn't raise a side). Eriskay had lost by that score to Benbecula in their previous match - an away league fixture played the previous Tuesday.
  23. Fixtures for Saturday 14th May and for Saturday 21st May have Cumbernauld United and Kirky Rob Roy both at home at the same time. 21st is showing KRR borrowing Duncansfield. 14th says both at Guys Meadow, but I'm guessing KRR will have to use Kilsyth that day too (?)
