  1. The conversation on here is really taking the biscuit! Are there any signing rumours?
  2. Be prepared to get kicked off the park. That's the way they play. They had some really big lads last season when I saw them playing at Elgin.
  3. Yep. The other problem was that Elgin had a fit Shane Sutherland playing for them. It's only injuries that have prevented him from being a top class striker. He did really well for Caley last season before he got injured again in the play offs.
  4. To be fair to Dundee, in that 1-2 loss to Elgin at Dens, it was about the only occasion Rabin Omar managed a shot on target in his time playing for Elgin; yet he scored an absolute belter of a goal.
  5. Elgin away please. It's about the only chance I'll get to see Dundee play in person this season due to work commitments.
  6. Thanks Ludo. It's nice to hear some rumours, even if it turns out to be nothing.
  7. I take it you are on the wind up? They are a Scottish Championship side.
  8. You will pass the ball about the back for ages then someone will punt an aimless ball up to a midget striker. You will lose the game due to the defence being badly organised and McPake will claim you dominated the game and failed to take your chances. The players will be allowed to be lazy on the pitch and fail to press the opposition. Sorry to be pessimistic but it was torture watching Dundee under his management.
  9. Elgin are having to travel to Ayr and Annan. Utterly disgraceful to put that sort of financial pressure on small clubs.
  10. Where did I try to convince myself it's a good appointment? Did you even read my post? Good grief!
  11. I prefer looking at evidence rather than hype. McGhee has done well at most clubs when he first comes in then it all goes pear shaped the following season when he's time to sign his own players. We were never going to get Jack Ross in my opinion so, although I'm a bit underwhelmed by the McGhee appointment, his record really isn't as bad as some people make out. I'm going to reserve judgement, as he and his team will hopefully be able to prevent the all too frequent lazy performances we have seen under McPake's tenure. If he manages to get the new manager bounce he achieved earlier in his career I will be delighted. This is a man who almost got the Celtic job a number of years ago so he must have something about him. Arbroath signed an aging manager not long after his previous club had sacked him for poor performances and he's doing a great job.
  12. I remember us winning 1-0 in Perth when Thomas Konrad was outstanding in defence. We stole the game that day. Funnily enough, Sweeney reminds me of Konrad a wee bit. Running into Konrad was like running into a brick wall, he was as hard as nails and Sweeney is similar and a lot taller. Hopefully he has another good game if he plays. He was very good against Rangers.
  13. I have to agree with that. There aren't many Scottish centre halves with his technical ability. He's a top player, no doubt about it.
  14. The Dundee players seem to get blinded by all the day glow orange/tangerine when they play at Tannadice and are usually well below their best but I'm hoping they actually do themselves justice this time and at least make it difficult for you guys.
  15. I would agree with that, just a different interpretation of wording. I would describe what you are saying as an increased tempo rather than pace. The slow tempo during the first half of last season contributed to so many of our poor results during that period. After the Ayr home defeat the tempo changed dramatically and results improved.
  16. Lets see if we can surpass eight goals this time, hopefully with Dundee coming out on top for a change. A 2-7 scoreline would be great. We are overdue a freak result.
  17. I see where you are coming from re McMullan but not sure about a lack of pace being glaringly obvious. Granted we miss McMullan's pace but Jakubiak, McGhee, Anderson and McCowan aren't exactly slow coaches, neither is Cammy. McGhee was picked to mark Boyle in the Hibs game because he is pretty quick, albeit not as fast as Boyle. McMullan's pace is exceptional and there aren't many footballers around with his kind of speed from a standing start. There were plenty of examples of our midfield tracking back to provide cover when Livi were on the break and catching up with their opposite numbers. I'm not convinced they would be able to do that if they lacked pace.
  18. Livi will be the happier of the two sides. Another draw at home is poor from Dundee's point of view. That's three home games where we have been the better side and only three points to show from it. In this league you have to score when you are on top. Mind you, that's the type of game we regularly lost when McCann and McIntyre were the managers. The only bonus was Griffiths getting 90 minutes. He clearly isn't match fit.
  19. What's the odds on Butcher sending McMullan ten feet in the air the first time he touches the ball? That's if Shaun Byrne doesn't flatten him first. I can see this being a right feisty encounter. I hope they've picked a referee who can handle the occasion.
  20. Most bookies have Dundee as slight favourites for this one which is how I see it. Livi have had a difficult start although losing at home to Motherhell must have hurt. There's not much to choose between the sides outside the Old Firm although Hearts, Hibs and Aberdeen will win more than they lose.
  21. He'll probably get dumped on his arse by Shaun Byrne in the first minute and get carried off injured with the tango brigade going nuts because Byrne got away with a yellow card.
