  1. Best was probably the South Park Bigger Longer Uncut swear-along at the Prince Charles cinema a few years ago - being in a roomful of people singing along with the Uncle Fucker song was utterly purile yet joyful. Hard to pick a standout worst experience, but have had several films ruined by the usual excessive cuntery (mobile phones, ill disciplined kids, pissheads, back row bonking, etc)

  2. Last week or so, mixed bag:

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire - pfffffffrrrrrt. Almost passable and not as disengaging as I'd feared, but not much cop at all. Also just seems to feature Bill Murray popping his head in at random intervals to pick up the appearance money before fecking off again like a disinterested junior footballer at Blantyre Vics or somesuch.

Civil War - really, really bought into this until the last 5 minutes, when

the utterly contrived pathos involving Kirsten Dunst getting merked left me thinking 'aye, right', and left a slight aftertaste

. That aside, the film builds really nicely and gets the tension spot on for most of it, that Jessie Plemons cameo is a brilliant set piece.

The Rock - part of the Cineworld action fest, hadn't seen it for a long time. Michael Bay films tend to be a bit too coked-up for my liking, but this one is a bit more restrained, and has one of the best villians-who-isn't-a-villian in a film played to a tee by Ed Harris, so it's absolutely fine.

Sometimes I Think About Dying - Daisy Ridley as a very closed-book introvert type, adapted from a stage play IIRC. Wanted to like this more than I did because she plays her part as well as can be expected, but the film is unbelieveably sloooooooooow and pretentious and you'll likely dial out of it even though it barely touches an hour and a half.

  3. Fair play to Edinburgh - the league table doesn't lie, but I don't think they've been as bad as their points tally suggests and a tough season giving the kids experience might set them up okay for L2 if they stay afloat.

Poor result for us, and makes the path to 4th place a lot more awkward. We badly need Alloa to win the Saturday Telefios game IMO regardless of what happens to us at LP.

  4. 6-1, and only a few good saves from the keeper and some wasteful finishing stopped that being double figures. Hard to judge against a poor team, but Buckie ping the ball about nicely and wouldn't be a mismatch against the chickenf***er and his band of mercenaries. I'd make Buckie slight favourites now unless Brechin go utterly berserk tomorrow night.

Underworld at the Usher Hall in Edinburgh tonight.

Absolute belter of a gig this evening - was a bit apprehensive about being in the upper seats but if anything the acoustics up there are better, and not many of us were sitting down. Two great set lists and a rave on the balcony, perfect Thursday night oot.

Tickets booked for The Naked Gun on 1st April.

Went along to this and Dumb and Dumber for the world of Cine double feature. Hadn't seen either for quite a few years - both are still quite funny and hold up okay. That said, Naked Gun does show its age more of the two, and D&D probably had the more gutteral audience laughter at that screening.

Noticed they are doing an action season for the rest of the month, too. Commando already booked!

  7. Immaculate - Sydney Sweeney as a nun, which will probably lure in some of the posters on 'that' thread over in general nonsense right now. It's a fairly generic dark-quiet-dark-quiet-THUMP horror for about an hour, but her performance is really good, and the final 20 minutes are deliciously nasty.

Late Night With The Devil - now THIS is my kind of unsettling slow burner horror film. David Dalmaschithingimabob playing as a slick 70's American TV show on 31st October (tick) as a piece of found footage (tick) with a young female guest who does exorcismy things (tick). Sounds counter intuitive, but if you ignore it as a horror film and watch it with a straight bat a'la Alan Partridge Does Halloween, then it's great fun, and the visuals/set/etc are really good. Suitably bonkers final act, too. Won't be everyone's cuppa, but I loved it.

Luke Graham got a chance of being a starter for us next season? How is he doing for you lads? How is he as a player?

Coped with Megginson and Burrell fairly easily yesterday if that's any clue. Very fine player IMO, lot of intellegence with his positioning/tackling and we were a more vulnerable side when he was out. Possibly a bit raw for the Prem though TBH I don't watch much of it.

Yup, I kind of get the tedious trolling and boring tropes from the bigger clubs but fk me, Montrose took 2 to QOS only a few weeks back and I can remember in the 80’s and 90’s when it was 350 at Links Park.

There is just no need it’s crass and embarrassing, whether we got beat 4-1 or won 4-1 there was no other place I was going to be today.

It wasn't all that long ago we were playing in front of 200 odd at best against the wee Rovers and the Shire while we were jobbing the bottom of L2, although TBF many of the 'ultras' who sing about shite home supports were still dropping shite in nappies at that point.

We're slap bang in the middle of the recession and any number dedicated enough to spend ever increasing costs on an away day just now should be respected (especially teams in the soup who hardly ever win).

Trying not to have a dig, but I do feel Cove are one of those clubs more heavily reliant on a smaller circle of influence so more vulnerable to doing an Edinburgh if and when any backers pull out/get bored etc. Struggling to see their mid-term planning or at all, and the manager is still in the job through nepotism over ability. (Would also qualify most of the above by saying most L1/L2 clubs are in a similar financial bind just now, including ourselves. I genuinely don't think anyone is totally safe right now.)

  10. Another big win and a very composed performance, massive credit.

Cove were absolute toilet for an hour and only got a bit of a look in at 0-3 when we were snuffing the game out. All their main attacking threats were well dealt with, I thought Luke Graham was excellent today at doing the dirty work while Hester is finding form and goals at just the right time. Always dangerous being optimistic, but much more positive about a top 4 shot just now.

Hate how he can’t just read out all the divisions full time scores without adding something to some of them.

Left Links Park today heading back up to the road waiting for all the full times thinking they wouldn't be long in coming. Managed the full length of the coast road and was joining the dualer at Stonehaven when he bothered with them. A joke of a programme, now.

Lastly, hope all is well with our elderly fan who suffered what appeared to be a medical emergency in the second half and was stretchered away

Seconded, this did cast a shadow over the second half for me anyway. Hope he's okay.

Very important three points to get on the pitch, at least. Looking forward to watching the highlights as it's difficult to do justice to that game in a summary (much as I'm no fan of some of Alloa's away bampots, their media operation is very good).

  13. One final insult for QOS with Rossco getting his apperance money, heh.

Super result. Really needed that with Alloa and Cove winning today, next two games against that pair are huge for the direction of out season. As for QOS, that skelping they dished out at LP looking more like the exception than the rule. Nothing against Bartley, but he hasn't done enough and the P45 must be imminent.
