  1. Its far too early to be writing teams off not even halfway yet!! Runs in major competitions, weather, backlog of games, injuries & suspensions all major factors in what will hapen. Going into a key stage in the season for any serious contenders for silverware and then it may be whoever is able to strengthen going into the new year who will come out on top in May.
  2. Blantyre definetely in the equation!! Tipped them to beat UB in West and think they will definetely be in with a shout of promotion. Good side.
  3. Be surprised if that hapens. Donza seems to like a rumour!!ha
  4. I think what Crazy Feet was meaning was that St Pats didnt panic and get rid of manager after defeat in Scottish as shock results can hapen. I doubt that Bridgewater have reacted to going out the west on sat, there decision may have been made on a variety of reasons. I wonder if they have anyone lined up for the role? Strange one if they dont as things can get very messy very quickly if they dont have someone to come in.
  5. Lost their way?? 2nd in league & still in Scottish , I would say maybe a bad couple of wks. Very difficult for even the best of sides to go through a season without there being a lull at some point. Possibly different reasons for the split but the man leaving can be proud of his time and where he leaves the Club.
  6. There is a chance a dark horse like Syngenta could sneak into the final but win it, no chance. Winner will come from 1 of 3 possibly 4.
  7. Regardless of what league Pennies are in they are still a strong outfit just ask Goldenhill. This will be a cracker tho and home advantage could be key for Sandys if they use it properly. Pennies have some very experienced players who will not be fazed by going to Castelview and they definetely have more quality than Sandys. Pennies to win this one for me.
  8. 100% this. You're a long time retired, these boys will look back and wish they played as often as possible. I wish i could play again. One of the ammie teams i played with in my younger days looked like a nursery at times.... all the boys had to bring the kids to the games because they wanted to play and i think its that simple boys now just dont want to play. Having played ammie football and committed alot of time to it training twice a week and and playing a sat (most times after a morning shift i can appreciate why boys can get scunnered , especially if they dont play regularly. I myself went through a spell where I got fed up and looking for a change had another go at Junior fitbaw which turned out to be a big mistake and I ended up chucking the game probably earlier than I should have. Kept myself busy away from football on a Sat and can honestly say I never really missed it. 5 years on and 2 kids later the opportunity came to get into the coaching side of the game which I took and with that came back my hunger for the game (with a vengence) i may add. I get a game back and forth with the 35s and often join in with the lads at training. What it has made me realise now though is that allthough i never missed it at the time now im back involved i wish i had went back to the amateur game after my year at junior and carried on playing to see if I would have got my hunger back. The 5 year break away did some good i suppose cause now i have my enthusiam back for the game , i love coaching and trying to improve players. I also look at the game differently now more from a coaching view than a playing one. My advice to any lad would be to play aslong as u can especially if u are a decent player and then if u have the time when u do finish get involved with coaching and put something back into the game. Lastly , from both perspectives playing & coaching and its the old saying u only get out of it what u put in and that is as it allways has been true. Through the good and the bad give 100% and u will experience more good than bad u can be sure of that. Nowadays for many reasons ur lucky to get 75% from a majority of lads at ammie level im afraid.
  9. The enthusiam for the game is just not there at the moment!! Call it the playstation era , work committments , social changes or any other number of things mentioned. How do we get it back into the game at all levels, thats the question? Scottish cup wkd this Sat and I remember the buzz leading up to these games. How many lads get that buzz nowadays? How many will miss these games cause they have something else on this wkd? How many will go out the night and get pished maybe not even make the game coz ah its only amateur fitbaw!! These attitudes have to change. So you didnt make it as a 16-18 year and now u have to go out in the real world and work, that doesnt mean u still cant go out and play the best game in world!! Want to go out and get smashed at the wkd , u can do that after u have played and hopefully won which makes it even better. Most of the reasons lads dont play anymore are just excuses , theyve lost there enthusiam for the game and cant be bothered with it now, the same reason our national team is becoming a joke and they cant fill the stadium for a home game. We are a glass is half empty culture who would rather moan about reasons why we cant do something rather than looking for ways we can do it. Attitudes towards football have to change. Its great for fitness, its gives u the opportunity to meet new people, it a great way to relieve stress, it builds friendships and most of all its fun. Theres just some reasons. For those not lucky enough to make it football then becomes a hobby which the last time i looked a hobby was something u did in ur spare time for enjoyment. Lads need to remember that cause one day they wont be able to play anymore and they will have missed out.
  10. Guys, there are definetely more hard times ahead for clubs and the game in general unless there are changes at the top. Looking at it from another angle I will put this to you, yes there is a decline in member teams and every other week another team falls away some well established some not so but is this just a sign that for the last few years there have just been too many teams from the same areas? Its seems nowadays u can start up an amateur team without too much structure behind ur Club and I know of teams who have started up without even having enough players to put on a decent training session let alone fullfill a fixture. As stated the drop in playing numbers is making it ever difficult for clubs to get players. Many Clubs also dont have there own pitch and jump from astro to astro which i also dont think helps the Club or players. I know there is a lack of good playing pitches but this again is something that councils should be pushed on. I understand astro turf pitches are needed over the winter to get games on but give me a good grass park anyday!! 15-20 years ago a team playing on an astro was rarely heard off now its considered the norm. My point is that Amateur football as we are all aware of is struggling and it will have change with the times, every club goes through there ups and down at this level but wherever the game may find itself in the next 10-20 years it will be the teams that have the proper structures in place that will still be around.
  11. 15 year ago it was a 5er now its 5-10 to play for most ammie players so dont see that as a major issue. Clubs are struggling with the excessive cost of pitch hires etc over the winter especially, something that local councils should look at to help the game. The Eosfl has definetely affected both the amateur and junior game with many being drawn to this (for me) loose tag of senior football. I personally feel the Safa has to look at restructuring the amateur game and looking at changing the league associations. It may be time to bring in district leagues where teams would only be able to compete within a restricted radius. Ur allways gonna have stronger and weaker teams but it would bring local interest. Something needs to be done and quick or in ten years time ammie game will be finished.
  12. Word is they wont be continuing as a few of players may be going with him. Shame as they have had a great start to the season but thats football. Dont think there is anyone in the frame to come in and take them on so looks like another team dropping out. A heard Falkirk were unable to field a team on sat aswell, is there situation getting any better? Seems to have been a real struggle for them from start of season.
  13. Fair enough, both teams missing players, a draw a fair result Mick?
  14. Heard Bannockburn unlucky not to get a late penalty yest? Good point away from home for them tho as were missing a few boys. Good battle between Bridgewater & Fallin with the away side down to 10 men after half an hour sure theyll be happy with a point.
  15. Colville v Bannockburn in prem should be fiesty encounter 2moro. Bridgewater v Fallin in Div 1b should also be a good game 2moro.
  16. Doune & Cambusbarron have an excellent chance to get to the 1/4 final after the draw. Salvesen v Sandys & Tullibody v Stenny both cracking ties then potentially Pennies & Fallin awaiting the winners if they can see off tricky ties. Opens the door up for a couple of outsiders to sneak into the 1/4s. Steins Thistle could be the dark horse now.
  17. Its tonight no time just says it will be at East meeting.
  18. Heard they only had 11 players today. Think theres been a new gaffer in but not sure how things are under him. Been toiling most of season I think. Hopefully they can turn it round.
  19. Falkirk is that the Polmont team? Yeah.
  20. Pennies, Stenny, Fallin, Tullibody and Sandy's all through. Who would have predicted that??? #favourites Doune Castle seem to have picked back up after a poor season last year and Cambusbarron with an impressive 13-0 win the day over Falkirk!! 2 big names and past winners the next round draw could be interesting.
  21. Hence the reason I fancy Pennies 2moro, they will know that and have the physical presence to upset them.
  22. Suggesting favourites is a matter of opinion its part of the game for people to say who they think may win a comp. Not very often does a rank outsider win a major at amateur level. We will see after 2moro but if Tollcross beat Pennies it will be a shock to me. They may have 2 lads called up for Scotland trials but they also got beat off Drum utd's sat morn team in Scottish couple wks ago so added pressure for them 2moro.
  23. 100% correct. Nowadays teams are very rarely at full strength every week which makes home advantage in the draw even more important. A good away day in any big cup is allways good but ask any team with aspirations of going all the way and theyll probly say home ties all the way.
  24. If Pennies are at full strength then I believe they will be.
