I've liked the look of him, but as The Moonster says his game time has been really limited - and Duffy preferring Boris over him isn't a great sign.

I wouldn't imagine he'd be that near your squad next season, but if he's let go then I wouldn't be against us handing him a deal. He's still raw, but I could see him becoming a pretty effective John Baird type striker with time and experience. Quite often loan forwards shy away from the physical stuff, but he's been the opposite - and looks more than happy to put himself about and get stuck in. He's barely played since starting in the 2-0 victory against Arbroath in March though, which is a shame because he was excellent that day. He gave the best centre-back pairing in the league a really tough time, and I hoped we might see more of him - but it hasn't been the case.

To be fair to him he's been unfortunate in that Calum Gallagher and Dom Thomas have struck up an excellent partnership since DT returned at the end of January. If that hadn't happened then I don't doubt he would've featured an awful lot more.

Is his contract at Cappielow up in the summer?

I'd go along with this entirely; it is very difficult to look the part from occasional cameo appearances and Brian McLean's improving performances confirm what a regular place can produce in a player.  In addition to his good showing against Arbroath young Armour came off the bench at Airdrie to assist in Thomas's equaliser.  I wouldn't be averse to taking a punt on him if he became available.

  2. Hysterical nonsense.
No, it's utter bullshit. That little creep Douglas Alexander was on Newsnight last night repeating the latest (and now widely circulating) Unionist assertion that because Brexit has become an utter cluster f**k then that becomes the default position for all future negotiations.

Let's face it, these people are so implacably opposed to Scottish Independence that they will literally stop at nothing to further their agenda. Having had success in the last GE standing on a single issue, I fully expect the Tories to be joined by Labour next time in wrapping themselves in the union jack in a desperate bid to stay relevant.

Whether you like it or not the reason they keep finding people who think this is because a lot of people think this.

Perhaps, but as someone who watches a lot of of BBC news programmes there is no doubt in my mind that the state broadcaster disproportionally seeks out Leave voters.  The reasons for that are unlikely to be bias per se, with it more likely being that since the Gilligan/David Kelly imbroglio the BBC has been shit feart of any sort of controversy and backlash, so better just go with who is shouting the loudest.  Leavers tend to be more vocal and rabid in a depessingly entertaining way, so it's all much easier to pitch up at an open-air market stall in Oldham than have some pointy-head sientist in Cambridge talking absolute sense and have the most of the country reach for the remote.

  4. This group is going absolutely no where. Boris Johnson's sister number one on the list for South west England. Fucking hell.
To paraphrase Vince Cable (remember him ?) they've had their orgasmic spasm and reality is about to bite. They'll get to find out quite soon that having all sorts of pals and promotion in the London media doesn't necessarily translate to electoral gain.
  5. Hi guys I am the new owner of the plough hotel only a few minutes walk from stenhousemuirs ochilview Park. We have a lovely bar area and restaurant and would be delighted to host any travelling fans before and after any games. I would be delighted to supply some complimentary food as long as we know you guys are coming in advance.

We hope to see some of you soon

    Thanks
    Steven Allison

Duly noted, and top marks for initiative.
  6. I read his post sarcastically so I'm not sure if he was agreeing with you.
I do. I've witnessed many people who were promoted away from where they could do most damage who then somehow land the top job. Certainly not all companies I've worked in but a good few.
Intelligence is not a requirement for becoming rich.
I'd imagine Mike Ashley might be the living proof of that closing sentence.....
  7. The article quite clearly states the following...

The objection stated: “Planning permission was recently refused for the club to relocate from the Castle Road site.

“This now makes it necessary for DFC and its investors to focus on maximising the opportunity to introduce additional non-football revenue generating uses on land around the existing stadium site.

“In order to ensure that these uses can be accommodated, it is now likely that the route of the proposed walkway and location of the lighting will have to be amended to minimise the effect on the developable area.

“It will not be possible for WDC to locate the lighting columns on the DFC land in the locations currently shown.”

They have objected the plans because they didn't get their new stadium and are therefore claiming we can't accomodate the lighting columns on the current land as we have to build on the current site to maximise profits (absolutely never going to happen).

In terms of the walkway, I was under the impression the council requested us to repair the wall that runs along the length of our land. I'm no legal expert, but I'm not sure they can demand money from us to contribute towards the walkway itself. And if they did we could tell them where to ram it without the need for tit for tat nonsense like this.

Either way, the owners are taking a stance that is going to do absolutely nothing to endear us to an already apathetic local community. This really does make us look like the bad guys. Even if it was a case of the club protecting their assets, I'd like to think there would be better ways of going about it.
I just wish Sons fans would see Brabco for what they are; misadventure capitalists who misjudged just about everything and are now nothing but a non-contributing barrier to DFC's progress.
The irony of them complaining about lighting columns is truly priceless; this from a mob who aren't prepared to maintain the 'lighting columns' of their principal asset, never mind a myriad of other issues of neglect.
How people still accord them any credence is beyond me.
  8. Hi, I've probably not been eloquent enough, but I've added this. There is a long list of people reacting exactly the way you'd expect to, though, so I'm probably pissing into a wind worse than what wheechs up the Clyde on  game day in January, though.

    Well done Sir !

  9. I notice that Brabco have rejected the council's prosposals to light up the castle because the stadium move was blocked. As expected the locals aren't best pleased about it.

Some of the comments regarding the club in general are absolutely depressing.
I haven't seen these comments but whether we like it or not a very bad impression has formed in sections of the local community. What makes it doubly annoying is that none of it is football-related and it has it's origins in the days when the club's high-handed PR was utterly abysmal. It could help if this message found its way onto Facebook and elsewhere, and to make it explicitly clear that Brabco do not have the interests of either the club or its supporters at heart.
And by the way, everyone should understand that most of the shit-stirrers would not piss on DFC if it was on fire, especially one former colleague of mine who went way OTT in the wake of an incident involving a charity function, albeit gloriously mishandled by the then officials.
  10. Watson, Adonis and the other right wingers are using the European elections and Brexit generally to try and splinter Corbyn's base.
Brexit is a Tory issue until there is a GE. Labour need to stick with the 2017 position and the 2018 conference motion.
I'm not remotely right wing but I'd willingly split Corbyn's base with a hatchet if I could. And whilst the Tories dragged the country into this Brexit mess, to paraphrase a charlatan of yesteryear we really now are all in this together. You increasingly come across as someone who values ideological purity above all else, a self-indulgent flaw which you must please excuse in the rest of us.
  11. I dislike Tom Watson and much of what he stands for but he’s spot on about Labour’s position on Brexit.
Is there anyone in the PLP who is genuinely left wing, capable and has a more rational approach to Brexit?

Tom Watson claims today that this is not the time for Labour to be 'sitting on the fence'. Funny, I was sure someone on here was recently posting the exact opposite.
  12. And so it turned out less frantic than we had long feared, so well done to everyone concerned at DFC.
To be honest though, huge individual plaudits must go to Craig Barr and Dom Thomas for their contributions in helping us retain our Division One status.
Time soon to pause and draw breath before considering the challenges that lie ahead, but meantime we raise a glass to our club.

According to Lord Ashcroft Labour and the SNP were both 2/3rds Remain based on their 2015 support. That's around 3 million Labour voters and  400,00 SNP voters. 2017 totals are probably the same for Labour and smaller for the SNP but it's still a lot of voters.

Cementing voters in the European elections isn't worth anything other than good PR. There is no point in Labour running up the score in cities where they already dominate at the expense of voters in towns where they need to win and defend small majorities.

The idea of setting policy to appease the exact FBPE morons who have spent two years undermining Corbyn and will find some other reason not to vote for a socialist in a GE is daft. The Tories won't be calling a GE any time soon so sitting on the fence is the place to be.

After the first paragraph I don't understand what you're  saying here.  In spite of the evidence of Ashcroft and others, Labour has allowed itself to become utterly spooked by fear of traditional Labour voters who voted for Brexit and as result has failed to do the right thing by the country by opposing Brexit, aided and abetted by a vacillating  Europhobe as leader.  You talk of appeasement; sure thing if you mean running scared of electors in Hartlepool and Doncaster.

As for Corbyn, he has played an absolute blinder in undermining himself.  The dirty propaganda is just that but he has repeatedly given the air of a timid, insecure man who just wants it all to go away rather than going on the front foot and fimly rebutting it.  Never mind, fence-sitting is just what the country needs right now.

  14. 17 hours ago, optimistic said:

Anyone else think Duffy will chuck it after the season ends?

I think this will be influenced by whether the man himself still seeks a full-time position in management, if he does then we can't oblige on that one.  Also, as I've already posted, managing DFC is a difficult job right now as we essentially have local Directors trying to square a circle of not having enough money to run the club the way we would all want it, both on and off the pitch, with owners in the background who appear to have absolutely no interest or appetite for helping them do it.  As long as that situation drags on it may not matter too greatly who is in the dugout.

  15. Galloway has a point. Why should a Labour supporter who wants to see the referendum result implemented vote Labour when a candidate is saying this?

I'm sure you recently informed us that the majority of Labour voters backed Remain, so surely better to cement that group in the European Elections, especially when all available evidence is pointing to the UK swinging firmly behind Remain. Trying to be all things to all people is a waste of time.

Heard whisperings that Farage leaving UKIP and moving to his own Brexit party has caused the new UKIP leadership to go full on far right BNP type policies, so concerning that they're polling close to 10%

I get your point but I doubt many of the people who currently vote or voted UKIP in the past will look very far beyong that acronym to scrutinise personnel or policies.  A sad indictment of a section of the UK electorate I know, but I'm afraid it was ever thus, as decades of Scots voting for monkeys in red rosettes demonstrated.
