  1. I'm gonna throw a grenade in here, but with Buckie being debarred why were HL runners-up Brechin not considered as replacement opponents for EK ?

I'm pretty sure if, say, an Olympic gold medal-winning athlete subsequently fails a drugs test then the silver medallist is elevated to gold status.  Presumably that doesn't apply in Scottish football.

Yeah, we know we are the bollocks and would have the majority of our players in any starting X1 for team of the year (I'd have had at least two more than the five we had in the official TOTS) but to make things a bit interesting let's have a starting X1 with Darren Jamieson in goals and the ten outfield players made up from every club. You can have your own choice of goalkeeper but if anyone is really having an alternative to DJ then you're a clown basically.

I'll be playing a 4-4-2 formation. Auld skool.

    Jamieson (Ste)

Pigniatello (Str)   Buchanan (Ste)  Morrison (For)  Martyniuk (Bon)

Russell (Spa)  McCarthy (Pet)  Forrest (Str) Healy (EF)

    Allan (Cly) Golding (Elg)

You will struggle to beat that lads. This is only for posters with decent knowledge of the league so will be too much for most but why not give it a bash?

See Neilly ?  See decent knowledge ? The last time I looked Carlo Pignatiello was playing for the Sons.  And Mikey Ruth would be replacing Jordan Allan pronto.

Who's been sending us the most woke?

I get the impression that parts of England consider Scotland to be maddeningly woke for some reason, so perhaps a good internecine BRITTISH! conflict is in order.

I think that comes from many in Scotland having little loyalty for the Haus of Windsor or the Union flag.  As for conflict, perhaps having lost a disproportionate proportion of it's yong menfolk in two major world wars, Scots are understandably a bit more reticent about vainglorious chest-thumping by mendacious Westminster politicians.

I sadly couldn't make it down to the Trust meeting last night but I hear a lot of interesting things being discussed. Will there be minutes/a run down sent out to members?

It was streamed but not recorded.  Minutes will be available in the near future, they aren't generally circulated but if a member(s) wishes a copy I don't see any great problem.

Act of total desperation by the midget millionaire.  There is a very good chance that not a single person will end up on a plane to Rwanda making this the most flagrant misuse of public money in this Parliament.

I agree with your logic but the Rwanda disgrace will be competing with some pretty major financial abominations - HS2, the Ajax armoured personnel carrier, any nuclear power project you care to mention, and the Tees Freeport corruption scandal to name a few.

In terms of immorality though it's in a league of its own.

The context being that the guy is a walloper that was just trying to be awkward.

Indeed, but alarmingly most of the media seems to be treating Mr Falter as some sort of brave folk hero standing up to The Lawless Mob and their protectors The Law Itself when the reality is that he was acting like a reckless shit-stirrer, or if you prefer agent provocateur.

No change from last week but I'm now thinking it's the play-offs for us. This team just doesn't have the bottle/leadership for the task at hand.

Yesterday was a real chance to put points between ourselves and Stranraer. Dumbarton even kept up their end of the bargain, avoiding what looked to be a nailed-on loss.

I wasn't at Stair Park but by all accounts we could well have lost there (again) if Stranraer had taken one of several chances.  Whilst we seemed content to rotate the team after halftime and to avoid injury and suspension, Stranraer apparently went for it, and that's now two games running they've competed well against top four teams.  If Clyde don't at least take note of that and respond they may come to regret it.

Downloaded version of the Sons v Hearts programme, November 1982.  Cover page predominantly maroon, bizarrely.

It was more of a deep red shade IIRC.  With thanks to @microdave and the wonderful Sons Archive, the game finished 1-1 with Raymond Blair scoring for Sons and Derek O'Connor getting the  Hearts goal for a strong Jambos side which included Roddy McDonald, Sandy Jardine, Alex MacDonald and Willie Johnston.  24% of the crowd wore ties.

    I keep hearing that.

Yes, it seems a common rumour but if they can't convince themselves to go full-on for league status on the back of a big payday from the Celtic Cup-tie then they'll never do it.  Time will tell soon enough.

You do know that the actor who played Hiram Holliday was Wally Cox ?  Seems you've chosen well.

We will have some professional pride to play for and try and avenge the 6-1 next week but it's as  good a fixture as Clyde can hope for at this stage.

Jamieson and Wedderburn out for the season and we are off the boil in general.

Add in East Fife and Elgin to come and Clyde have essentially 3 games against teams who will be playing for nothing and on their holidays.

Not that I'd trust McCall much as he has no idea what his best team is surely they can muster enough against 3 teams which should be on holiday?

    The Bully Wee.

In a similar vein, and if I could offer the Bully Wee faithful a glimmer of hope, this Saturday we should be looking to avenge the 5-0 humping we took the last time we were at Stair Park.

We are in decent form with four straight shutouts and whilst I think Faz will look to rotate the team now that we are in the playoffs, this creates opportunities for others to impress.  I'd certainly start Hilton though as he's looked the part of late and he should know Stair Park very well.

  12. Hideous conditions but the correct outcome.  I was curious though why after taking the lead we failed to press more, especially as Clyde have a history of digging out late draws here.

Play-off spot confirmed, so two cheers for that, but as today's results showed there's still a lot of football to be played in this division.

Those names aren't familiar, but I only played there for a year or so around 1984 or 1985. I got a serious shoulder injury and had to quit.

At my age remembering names from away back is problematic ! Todd Smith (?) was one I think, and I remember 'Guddy' who mainly captained the B team.

I know them both and they are still about.
