Well, I believe some things have been some discussion around changing rooms and temperature checks being carried out but there will obviously be more than that.

My point is that if there are restrictions on numbers in changing rooms and more space being required then some clubs might struggle knowing the size of some changing rooms. If it turns that facilities aren’t an issue then that is a major hurdle to restarting.

I listened to David McCraken (Falkirk co-manager) being interviewed last night and he was saying that they had to hold their team meetings while sitting in the stand and not in the changing rooms.

Having been in the Falkirk Stadium's dressing rooms  I would reckon they are significantly bigger than those at most, if not all, West of Scotland League club grounds.

Can I ask what confidential information has been leaked?

As I understand it there were minutes of a meeting that were shared. While  the West Region doesn't have a established history of even keeping meeting minutes, those can never be considered confidential. Expectation is that that these would be share with the member clubs.

Plus an email asking individuals to destroy those minutes.

Again emails are not in themselves considered confidential. Even if you note in the email that its confidential. When you send an email the recipient can forward it onto whoever they wish. You have no real way to validate its been received by the person you think you sent it to either. Even if it was sent from a work email with the functionality to send a confidential email, in this instance it still wouldn't stand up as being confidential, as it was a personal email. Emails are the least secure form of communication and rarely carry on legal significance.  As others of said its outside the scope of GDPR as there is no personal or private information in the email.

The WRJFA must have some ageing legal eagle on retainer as every month or so they seem to throw out threats of legal action with no basis in reality.

What makes you think 'the West Region doesn't have a established history of even keeping meeting minutes'.

Club Secretaries can all access minutes going back several years online within the SFA Club Extranet.

Some utter numpties on Twitter that don't understand what has happened and think that a one season conference would have funded the gold-plated bogs the SFA demands. Honestly, travelling supports in top flight are not great outside a few clubs and they'd have got one/two of those. And you might have found Talbot for example might not have taken 300 to Wishaw for a league game.

As if, they brought half that to the West Cup tie a couple of years ago.  The other half must have had a premonition.

All I'm saying is that the titles Senior and Junior came about because of the 2 separate levels of football created whenever. So if they all come under one banner now there is no reason for any reference to Senior or Junior football. How that makes me a pesky Joonyur rebel rouser I have no idea. I will say it again. I am 100% behind the Pyramid and want all Junior clubs from all over Scotland to be part of it if they wish. I don't care either way if the SJFA exists afterwards or not. I totally disagree with the personal abuse bandied about on here whether it is directed at SJFA, LL or SFA personnel. What is so bad about that?

Not sure that you are entirely  correct in this.

I have a recollection of reading somewhere that in the earliest days of football, when there were no leagues and matches were basically friendlies or annual 'challenge competitions', the earlier established clubs (most of whom disappeared  long ago) preferred to play annual matches against each other (for various reasons including financial) rather than play against  'newer' poorly supported clubs.   Else they fielded second or third string sides when they did play them) ( a bit like modern rugby) and that the term 'junior' was coined  by the printed press as a sort of  'catch all' term  to describe the 'newer' clubs and  possibly slowly over time applied to the  'smaller' old  clubs (many of whom were being left behind by the rapid growth of the big city /large town club with greater supports and which were a better financial proposition in terms of away support.

Presumably when the SJFA was founded and the Junior Cup competition established, it was a deliberate use of the term 'Junior' at that point in time in order to clearly differentiate themselves as being something 'different' - a sort of early marketing ploy.

Presumably also as a result of this if you weren't 'junior' then by exception you must have been 'senior'.   When Leagues started the differentiation would have been continued.

Perhaps some of the many learned football historians out there can help with this.

  5. Good Pitch and dressing rooms.  One  container type seated stand. One other covered area also with seats. Hardstanding down one side, Hospitality cabin. Pie stall etc. Own floodlit training pitch.

Nice people, nice place. Even laid on a sunny day for us.

By the month end we will have played 13 games in 36 days.  That is far too many games IMO.

Totally agree, is it any wonder players get injuries and niggles early in the season.

Couple of seasons ago we played 22 games in 52 days after being knocked out at semi-final of Scottish Junior Cup.

Killed our promotion hopes stone dead.

  7. We had goal not given at Benburb a couple of years ago when it rebounded off the wheel.

Ref didn't see it.  Fair put us off at the time and the Bens went on to give us a  bit of a doing.

  8. David  McGlone's The Juniors 100 Years gives this as -

Saltcoats 2 (Brunton & Barr) St Anthony's 1 Donnachie at Firhill

    after

    (1)  Saltcoats 1 (J McLellan) St Anthony's (McNeil) 1 - at Firhill

    (2) Saltcoats 3 (W Mclellan 2 J McLellan 1)  St Anthony's 3 ( Donnachie 1 Brown 2) - at Love Street after extra time

Hopefully Saturday's programme will give more details of the Tranent game in 1935, I'll wager the crowd (at Tynecastle!) was in five figures. My faither (who was a boy at the time) always talked about football special trains leaving Wishy packed for big games, I'm sure this must have been what he was referring to (although as a known haverer I had always been highly sceptical).

Anyway, looking forward so much to being there, great to see the local shops and community getting behind the team, C'MOAN WISHY, HISTORY BECKONS!

Yes the Tranent game will be covered in the programme.  Your faither wasn't wrong.  Mr John Chapman of one of our main sponsors James Chapman (Butchers) Ltd has told us of several occasions when packed trains left Wishaw for Juniors games.  Some of the crowd figures given for games in the past were well in excess of those enjoyed by many senior clubs nowadays.

In reply to Larky 1878 as everyone knows we have been very much a hostage to fortune with the weather this season hopefully no more rain will fall before tomorrow.

I really hope Wishaw can do the business over the next two weekends. It is a tough ask, given the quality of Hurlford and the fact it's not a one off game, but I think they are more than capable of causing another huge upset if they play to their full potential. It should make a fantastic few weeks for everyone involved at Wishaw - Players, Management, Committee and Supporters. I wish you all the best of luck.

I've been at the Beltane a number of times this season and last, however I have never seen any merchandise on sale. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to purchase strips, scarves or the likes before Saturday?

Thanks for the kind words.  We really are quite a small club and whilst we have been increasing our 'following' over the last few years there has actually been little demand for 'club branded goods'.  Our success in the Scottish this season has caught us out  so far as this is concerned.  We have previously sold  jerseys on a one off 'ordered' basis'' but we don't hold stocks for sale (we even sent some to the U.S.A. a couple of years ago) . We currently have a small quantity of badged hats and unbadged black and white bar scarves for sale. If we are successfull in progressing to the final we have spoken to a supplier regarding providing jerseys, scarves, flags, mugs etc etc....   However, please feel free contact us on the club e-mail wishawjunior@hotmail.com and we will see  if there is anything we can do for you.

A fantastic achievement. Well done to everyone involved at the club.

Although... I can`t help but wonder how John Brogan must feel just now.  After all it`s pretty much his team that`s achieved this success on the park but suddenly everyone seems to have forgotten about him.  No disrespect to the new management team intended as you`ve certainly taken up where John left off admirably and I wish you every success for the rest of the season.

Thank you for your very kind comments.

The squad of players at the Club at the present time has been a number of years in the making.  The majority of the players joined during either John McKeown or Chris McGroarty's time with the Club although several pre-date that.  John Brogan brought 3 players to the club, two of whom are younger lads on development loans and who will return to their respective parent Clubs in due course.  We very much appreciate being given the opportunity to work with those players and play a part in their development.

We fully appreciate the contributions and hard work which all of our previous managers and their respective backroom teams  have done for the Club no matter the circumstances of their leaving and we genuinely wish them all the best for the future.

This has been  been a most unusual but interesting season for us and we still have a long way to go yet.

Given the pattern of postponements for Wishaw in the cup since the 3rd Round has been 4 (Downfield away), 4 (Downfield home), 3 (Forth home) and now 2 (Yoker), it may be touch and go for next Saturday! Having said this in recent years St Patrick's Day has usually been very sunny and spring-like so here's hoping that continues. On the other hand it would be quite nice to see Wishy's name (along with Yoker of course) in the semi-final draw (assuming it's the week after the other quarters are played). Anyway, if it does go ahead next week, will look forward to seeing the match and hope whoever does win through enjoy their day in the sun against Rob Roy and give them a bit of a run for their money.

I see from the club website that Wishy last reached the 5th round in 75/76 (before I took any interest in the juniors), and I dread to think when they were last in the quarter-finals. Have Yoker been regulars at these stages of the tournament or is it the first time in a while also? I see from my research (ie, reading 'The Wee Red Book') that Yoker won the cup not long before the war (and were in another final around then if my memory serves me right). I'm an old codger myself now but even my granddad (and possibly his faither also) wasn't born the last time the trophy was paraded around Wishaw although somehow I doubt this cup run will end the 130 years of hurt!

Hi Forza, our records are far from complete (I managed to fry the hard drive I was storing my own research on) but I don't think we have reached the quarters anytime in  the last 50 years. We made the semis way back in the 1920's though.

  13. Great to see this site up and running again and carrying on the great work by Jamie in the original version. It would be good to get an idea of what is planned for expansion for the future so that clubs and fans can contribute accordingly.

    Well done to all concerned.
