On keepers, Ecrepont getting rave reviews again this week from big ears Kennedy after EK win over East Stirling. Wish he was just that tad older and would love to see him challenging for No.1 next season.

Genuinely wouldn't be shocked if we loan him out next season to a league 1/2 club and he never makes a full Ayr appearance due to being sold on to an academy down South. Seems to be consistently putting in big performances.

We have gone from being a heartless shambles to a heartless shambles with Akinyemi to a heartless shambles.
Brown in a few short weeks has turned us in to a lot less of a shambles with some heart.

Fair summary, it was looking 50/50 between staying up by the skin of our teeth and a meek relegation playoff showing a few weeks ago. Yes, we still have deficiencies. However, it feels like we will absolutely be alright now and away from any nonsense come April.

I'd take Somerset every day over these Lego type stadiums. Saying that it's very uninspiring along the back of Somerset Road. What ever happend to the mural thing Mathie talked about in the video? There's a few other things I'd like to see upgraded as well as the place does look shabby in parts

Probably something that is in the long term basket, next Q&A it would be good to have raised. As, fair play to Mathie, it did seem like he answered pretty much every question they received.

Bullen set up home here and immersed himself in the club and it was whipped away from him quite quickly so I have sympathy for him wanting to keep involved in the social aspect of it. Probably a lot of players and staff are still in contact with him. If you’ve ever been made redundant and all of a sudden don’t see folk you spent 8 hours a day with every day, it’s a bit weird.

It is probably fair to say that his time as manager was a case of him being a good guy for the club, unfortunately in the wrong role.  Have to agree with you with how much he clearly put in, it must be very difficult to then go cold turkey. I don't mind him commenting it is actually quite refreshing to see a manager leave and not just absolutely slaughter the club. (Looking at Derek Adams just now with his weird stats).

  5. Off the back of the last two games, there really feels like we have some green shoots appearing. Absolutely cannot fault the sheer effort and determination being shown. I've convinced myself already that it isn't just a new manager bounce. It is weird to have watched two loses on the bounce and yet have a feeling of optimism. For this one I'd probably start Tomlinson over McAllister as he put in a pretty stellar showing at Ibrox. I'd also be hopeful of Bryden starting this one, as he is another who has really came onto it the past fortnight.

I'm fairly confident we'll get something out of this, wouldn't be upset with a draw. Will have the win on my coupon.

I wonder if we will play 4231

    Albinson

    McCalister Stanger McGinty Reading

    Dempsey Syla

    Chalmers McGeady Murphy

    Dowds

Full backs will have to sit narrow (width of box) and not get forward.  We need to make them cross the ball as it's our defence's strength and a weakness of their attack.  Everything else speaks for itself except McGeady, personally I'd play him on Saturday, still got something to offer us IMO.

If ever there was a game for him to turn up it would be this one.

  7. After seeing the performance against Dundee United on Saturday I reckon we'll have enough about us to be clear of trouble with a couple of weeks to go. We probably won't be in the conversation for the plays offs but P6-7 is where we'll likely land. There is still time to hopefully time to bring in another body or two to see us through as we are still a bit bare in some positions which could cause problems if any injuries crop up.

Hard to see past Arbroath going down just now and Dunfermline joining them in the playoff berth.

Many an Ayr fan has went In the away end at the plastic rugby pitch when the dkb's are playing someone else in the cup and we don't have a game that day. Good laugh sometimes.

Only been in the away end there once when we weren't playing them, watching Eddie May's Falkirk relegate themselves rather than Killie.

Ayr closer to Dundee than what Inverness is, but would imagine this has been in the pipeline for a while.

Not really a position we need, sure he is a winger.

Pretty sure Scott Burns mentioned about a week - 10 days ago that Inverness were trying to land him, so they've probably been asking the question since the start of the month atleast.

  10. Hopefully whilst we have some peace, what is the general consensus around the positions and number of players we'll be looking to bring in? My assumption (pessimist in my view) is we'll land with something around the £450-550k from gate receipts, prize money and tv money.

I reckon from that it is probably worth 5 or 6 decent quality players over half a season (if we are going all in on survival and based upon who's left so far) between loans and free/nominal transfers. We absolutely need to address LB and RB given the lack of cover and general weakness in those areas. With Brown mentioning additional firepower up top, my guess is a strike partner for Dowds and maybe a wide man and an attacking mid?

Hopefully that would let Bryden get out on loan for some much needed game time and confidence.

I'd just like to point out that this thread has been an absolute bin fire today.

We've waited so long for a home win, an exciting manager, a bit of hope just to see it descend into chaos.

    Is this Bullens true legacy?

The problem is people keep replying to him, just ignore and Ally will float off again as per usual to all his interesting things he's got going on on Twitter and Facebook.

  12. On Brown the one thing I keep coming back to is that he would no doubt view us as a stepping stone. Which probably wouldn't be a bad thing given he's clearly a highly driven individual. Of the managers we think are still in the frame he probably stands out as the one who would be able to drive things off the field as well. If we can get 3-4 years out of him and he leaves us in a good position to move onto a bigger club (Hibs for example) then I'd be quite happy as he clearly would have been a success.

I see Cammy Kerr has been made available from Dundee.  Wonder if we would be interested, really experienced defender in a position we are crying out for improvement.  Send Ahui back and bring him in would be a massive improvement.  Whether he'd be willing to drop down/travel would be an issue.

Scott Burns yesterday suggested that Inverness were in for him on loan, so dropping down might not be an issue.

Can someone explain what Brown achieved at Fleetwood. They look a bit of a basket case of a club from the outside. I base that entirely on the number of managers they burn through. I'm sure Joey Barton was their manager at some point. Charlie Adam is their manager now. Do they always appoint rookies?

It was mentioned on the next manager thread that he was going pretty well with them until allegations came out about the owner money laundering, ultimately leading to jail time and the club being sold off.
