Fair point about learning variations of styles and tactics; but I don't think part time coaches have player by player physical and nutritional development plans they review every week.Plus getting a variety of coaching methods and tactical styles is surely going to be good for them, no?

Except that development of young players has more chance of success when:-Has been mentioned a few times that players like those anywhere near inclusion in senior team squads would still be loaned out to gain proper experience at higher levels which makes the Lowland League a dumping ground for also-rans
- young players play regularly (loan players tend to be on the bench)
- they receive consistent high quality coaching messages (not saying loan clubs give bad coaching, just different)0 -
Great stuff [emoji106] Regretfully some won't let factual trend analysis get in the way of good old fashioned deep-seated opinion based on anecdote.Take a look at the FIFA world rankings and compare performance over the past 20 years as a more reliable measure than one match v England.
They reached 4th place in 1998, 7th in 2008 and 4th again in 2018. Their most recent ranking is 14th, which puts them in the top 10 sides at the Euros - whereas 14th is the highest placing for Scotland in 2007 over a twenty-odd year period.
Scotland is currently ranked 44th in the world, and 22nd out of 24 at this tournament.
It is right that we look to successful small countries like Croatia for ideas and inspiration. Adult B teams has been a part of their player pathway for many years.
That's not to say that 'B' Teams is the only answer, but suggests it is worth exploring. Bigger countries like Portugal (5th), Spain (6th), Italy (7th), Germany (12th), Netherlands (16th) all feature B teams in their league structures - and they all do international football and player development better than us.

I’ll give you the fact that if a B team wins the league then second couldn’t be put forward as they wouldn’t be “champions” and also wouldn’t be selected on “sporting merit” if you ignored the team that actually won, I worry for the SLFL clubs that this hasn’t been thought through, although unless the B teams are full of ringers they wouldn’t be any more than mid table cannon fodder anyway.
An understandable concern, however this was covered at SLFL meeting, and the highest placed SLFL club will be champions notwithstanding where the colts finish [emoji106]0 -

Can't believe this thread is still running. The fact that it is, and largely populated with general anti old firm rhetoric, tells me that this was the basis for most 'concerns' rather than the unsubstantiated guff about pyramids or integrity.

To be fair, I'd have reckoned that the Berwick fans would have too. Not having a pop; but does it perhaps suggest that the trends, taken as 'the source of the truth' from mostly anonymous social media, isn't really the voice of the SLFL fans. Maybe Shire should actually ask too; and other SLFL clubs.That's quite interesting. I'm surprised it has grown.

I wonder if it's too much to expect that a thread entitled BSC would be more for discussion between BSC fans than, as it seems, attracting a vast predominance of ranting haters. All views welcome of course (to a point), but might the typical social media trend of trolling bile from the 'we're all entitled to our opinion' brigade perhaps put folks off looking for genuine discussion of THEIR teams affairs. Berwick thread's the same. Bo'ness thread has good chat; but no doubt it'll become fair game at some point for the f**ckwiteratti, largely not even supporters of SLFL clubs who's views wouldn't be missed.

Aw gie's peace. The condition of one year is agreed, albeit the vote (on that condition and all others) is to be ratified at AGM. It's still a bloody year man. Jeeze.AFAIK that's not a fact.
It hasn't been formally agreed, just an informal 'indicative' vote. The formal decision will happen at the AGM. It may still be thrown out. On the other hand it might be extended to 2/4/100 seasons.
There's still time for fans to let their clubs know their views.

You would need to be pretty fucking gullible to believe they are happy to accept a 1 year deal to play in the LL. George Fraser said in the podcast it would be up to the Old Firm if they want to extend it. I'm sure they'll offer another wee paltry sum to get the votes required.
I was really surprised that Berwick voted in favour. It was only a couple of years ago you were playing in the SPFL and the league cup. Now your in a league with a couple of Uni sides, 3 or 4 clubs with no fans and you want to add a couple of boys teams to the mix? The season tickets must be flying out the door.0
