  1. Took a run around the North Third, Stirling yesterday. I've all but given up on getting any meaningful speed out of the mountain bike which means big dstances are just impractical. But I prefer cycle tracks, single track roads and the like anyway. The only disappointing part yesterday was I couldn't get any speeds up on the downhill parts of the single track road because of the number of cars. The nice weather was obviously enticing people out in their tin boxes. Especially annoying were the wee dicks in their souped-up Corsas who treated the road as a rally course, with their half-wit hangers-on shouting abuse out of the windows as they hammered by. Went off-road around the Cambusbarron military training track, which was interesting. That looks like serious 4x4 driving territory, it was difficult enough on the bike. Going down some of the more extreme gradients involved just tucking the balls in and yelling "yee-ha". A nice wee run out though. Made the mistake of fiddling with the gears and brakes though, dammit. What's the general going rate for a service?
  2. Oh the stadium was fine. It just looks like the 20th Century hasn't arrived in Brechin yet.
  3. Just mader it to Brechin for the first time. My God, it's like arriving in the olden days!
  4. Some tasty challenges. Unlike the pies - they're shocking!
  5. He arrived on horseback with the other 3 riders of the apocalypse?
  6. I thought I was doing well with my 25-milers. I can see I've a ways to go yet. Was out yesterday and I've now got sunburnt thighs. The rest of my legs are still peely-wally white but the upper side of my thighs are bacon-pink. The wife thinks it's hilarious.
  7. That's a new one on me. So climate change is a tool of capitalism then?
  8. Climate change? Buy a hat. Honestly, you youngsters panic about the slightest wee things.

  10. That's really nice. Do you think it could match up to mine?
  11. Just back from doing the North Third around Stirling. Wow, that's some workout! 13 miles of rural roads, lots of "up" and loads of exhilarating "downs". According to the online gps thing, the fastest I was going was 28mph downhill but that was still scary and faster than my legs could go on the pedals. Changed the tyres to less knobbly ones, but the chain/gears have developed some worrying creaks/clicks.
  12. How come they both get to wear such similar strips? It must be hell for folk watching in Black & White surely?
  13. Ah, that's pretty serious. It sounds like a probable Patellar Subluxation with Iliotibal Band Discombobulation causing Retrusion of the Meniscus Fibrocartilagin into the Medial Menisci. Can I have your bike now you don't need it? Only joking Did my 22 mile run to the Falkirk Stadium & back today. Slight improvement on time but it felt like cycling through treacle when the wind turned.
  14. Do they still dig up bodies there? Can't believe I got another puncture today. This thing goes down more often than the wife.
  15. Yeah, the rain doesn't bother me either (bought a mudguard today). Had a puncture the other day and had to push the bike three miles home as I didn't have a spare with me. Somebody said using the uber-knobbly tyres on the road is asking for trouble with punctures, is that right? I'm loathe to buy new tyres when I could be saving for a better bike.
  16. aaaaaaaaaah - I might need to change the stem too then
  17. That's a nice-looking bike at a good price. We need an accurate review
  18. Great shot by Murray, but I would have jumped the net and punched his pus if he did that to me.
