They had tons of possibilities to make their way out of troubled areas. They were even given instructions on how to do so via loudspeakers (in case they couldn't navigate their hometown), read the riot act (which threatens life imprisonment), and given half an hour to get the f**k away. There isn't too much of an excuse for those who stuck around.
That wasn't my point, what i was saying is, 99% of the crowd were in the area and causing no trouble the other 1% were the ones destroying property etc. It looked worse than it was.
Vancouver is a place I have been several times, each time in the midst of hockey season and i saw no trouble in any of the times i visited. Coudln't have been anymore friendly a place. Even contemplating moving there once me and the Fiance are married in the summer.

Got a friend who works in the hospital a block or two away from the rioting and he said it was mostly just a handful of people causing the trouble, the rest was people cordoned in by the police making the area look mobbed by rioters.

Also before we were talking about Rome's hit on Thornton. But how come nothing was done about Johnny Boychuck's hit on Mason Raymond that resulted in a fractured vertebrae?

Been at GM Place (Rogers Arena sounds filthy about 7 times, Fell in love with the game 5 years ago and been a Canucks fan ever since. C'mon the Nucks.

It was a cheap shot but the guy should have been anticipating the hit.

I'd watch Ron Pearlman eat an Indian, he is god.

Series has just been televised in Australia on free to air TV.
Loving the show so far, although some things are a little far fetched.
Its the best show on TV just now in my opinion. Don't think its that far fetched as the guy who writes spent a lot of time with several Biker Gangs gaining reference to how how these gangs run.

I wouldn't say you are an outsider when 3-1 up on the Detroit Red Wings in the conference semis
Exciting times to be a Canucks fan, but San Jose or Detroit will present a different (and tougher) test than either the Canucks have faced so far. To get through the Conference finals they'll really need Henrik Sedin to step up to the level he is capable of, although I'm just not convinced the Sedins are designed to thrive in playoff hockey ever, unlike the God-like Ryan Kesler.
I agree my man, Both Sedins have lost their way as of late. Kesler really is stepping up throughout the playoffs. Didnt get a goal for 7+ matches but was still the main driving force behind us.

Oh yeah and forgot to mention that even with video technology, the refs can still make the wrong decisions at crucial points in the game! Cheating, lying little rat.
Hopefully will manage to take in a Canucks playoff game, come on Vancouver!
are you over in Vancouver on Holiday?

Sharks should destroy a Kopitar-less Kings. Good start for the Canucks last night, blitzed the Hawks in the first period and they never recovered, Luongo off to a good start which is massively important. Sedins looked a bit off the pace but Kesler was a beast. Cody Hodgson thrown straight in at the deep end looked good, and Maxim Lapierre is showing his playoff form again. Edler is looking like a top top D-man. All in all a pretty good report, but the Hawks looked good in the second and third and the Canucks won the first game in the last two years against them.
Both Sedins and Kesler had a bug and missed training the morning of the game so maybe that's why they were off the pace but Kesler did have a stunner.

Agreed, I said the exact same thing in here last week.
Thought the ending was pretty decent, something very distressing about it.

Went and saw Drive Angry 3D, hillariously bad but in a good way and love that these type of films get made. Really good night at the flicks. 8/10

Went through to Edinburgh last night to see 23.40 showing of Monsters. Was really taken with this film, not like your normal, alien and monster films, actually had a proper story and build up of the characters pasts. Best film iv seen in the past month. 9/10

couldnt believe the Dundee score when i saw it, but i was actually really impressed with them against the clan last week, until the last period they held their own very well and looked dangerous coming forward, a bit shaky at the back tho.

Fair enough, perhaps gay is the wrong word. "Shit" would be the better adjective.
Think its hard to make them sound good when there's only 1200 people in the arena, when i went to a few NHL matches at General Motors Place, the chants made more impact as the crowd was huge.

I'm not having a go, but what I find strange is that you would rather go and watch a team that you don't (yet) support, than one which presumably you have been going to see for a number of years.
Also, from what I've seen and from what I know about the Elite League, I wouldn't have said that, comparatively, it represents a better standard of ice hockey than the standard of football in the SPL. Scotland narrowly lost to Spain last week, fielding a team, not made up mostly of SPL players, but players basically of SPL standard. On the other hand, an Elite League side were beaten 5-1 recently by the Boston Bruins, not even one of the best sides in the NHL.
I went to the match tonight, paid £15 for a seat and £6 petrol and a pint so i spent around £24, where if i went to Dumfries tomorrow id spend around double that, so i decided to go to the Hockey instead of follow Falkirk away from home, to me that doesn't seem strange, just fecking obvious.
Also i do support them, i pay for tickets, buy programmes and merchandise and cheer them on, which means I am a Braehead Clan supporter not just someone who has started watching them.
Fantastic result tonight, took a wee while to get going but once they did they didn't look back and steamrolled Dundee.

Atlantic division is upside down! Some going by the Islanders. More so with key players injured. Reminds me of Devils start last season.
Speaking of which a 3-0 win in Montreal. Big improvement in all aspects of their game. Sticking by some youngsters which is good with another getting his first start. Taormina has 2 goals and 2 assists now and he's a defender.
Vancouver should get tossed out the league by the way. It's just not safe to watch them if their players are prone to wading into the crowd for a fight. Shocking. Must have been some taunt to get that reaction though.
I honestly dont know why Rypien reacted that way, all the kid did was clap at him as he was sent packing, then he attacked him, but even then he only grabbed him. Then they chucked the kid and his father out, which i think was outta order as player know to expect these reactions from fans and iv seen alot worse than that aswell.

Devil - Pretty pants film, extremely slow, tried to be clever but sadly was way to obvious, very disappointing ending to say the least. 4/10

I didn't think we played too well last night, although Nottingham did play much better than Hull. I was unhappy with the refereeing though, lots of off-puck cheating by the Panthers including that cheap shot at the end of the second period and the check from behind on Richardson, along with not allowing any fights to flow. Also, the fact that Nottingham knocked the net off about five or six times and kept getting away with it didn't help. That being said, a bad second period let us down, and now we've just got to focus on a tough game at the weekend away to the high flying Sheffield Steelers.
Thought our passing and general lack of concentration played a big part in the loss last night, The ref also made it hard, missing some silly decisions, but Nottingham pressured us and played well to get the result they wanted.
First game and still enjoyed it, and a Clan Jersey for £40 what a bargain, was it some sort of cut price deal?

I walked out of Shakespeare in love, my g/f was extremely unhappy as she enjoy the films of that turgid horse faced boot, Paltrow!
I walked out on The Muskateer and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, so shit, i couldnt keep my eyes open.

I also don't condone any of the behavior, but it happens all round the world.
