  1. Craig Menzies is an incredibly consistent performer and Bryan Wharton a strong defender so I think these guys will really strengthen JB a lot at the back.
  2. Hats of to the Campbeltown folks-the travelling and effort just to keep the team going is incredible and as has been said they have been working away on the ground which is their own ground and far superior to many in much higher divisions in the WOSFL. We played the Pupils a couple of seasons ago and a nicer friendly bunch you couldn’t meet-as well a great wee group of fans who travelled the crazy distance to back their team too!
  3. Auchinleck are consistently formidable season after season and I don’t think that will change. They are always in the mix!
  4. It just seems never ending for Rob Roy.Hopefully any contamination issues would have been assessed and taken into account before they started any development on site .
  5. Thanks-is the ground actually ready for use now?
  6. May have missed it but have Rob Roy got confirmation regarding their use of the new stadium in Kirkintilloch yet?
  7. I remember talk a good number of years ago of JB moving from Keanie but if there are the problems as detailed above regarding ground conditions/contamination then no surprise this didn’t happen. There are of course ways to deal with that so maybe with the new regime purchasing from George W they may have another go at things.
  8. I think we have made some good signings but fear that Maxi will have so many options it won’t be easy to settle a strongest 11 early enough.Too much choice and too little time as you can’t start poorly in this league -if you do it’s a big ask recovering. I would have liked to have retained Stuart McCann and Del Esplin and let Rumsby go but there are some things you can’t control. I suspect overall it is a rebuilding season with such huge changes and would be surprised if we win anything so Lok fans will need to be patient-not a quality they are known for unfortunately ….
  9. Lol-ok some of it is closer to you guys! If only we had some glory as the cabinet hasn’t been bulging in recent years…
  10. Now there’s an album!Featuring a great cover of Cum on Feel the Noize by Slade
  11. It’s a good point-there are a lot of old established south side areas around us where people and families have lived for a long time and within which they tend to move but not too far.I would include in that Shawlands,Muirend,Langside,Cathcart and Kings Park. Pollokshaws to a degree although it has been diluted a bit by demographic changes and Strathbungo/Govanhill definitely no longer have a sense of the south side as it was.
  12. Agree 1000%. It’s also a lot to do with being associated with a “big” team which will always win trophies where there is only one credible opponent every year. And that transcends all geography as you say so we have folks dressing up in OF apparel who have barely ever been to Glasgow and have loads of local sides at all levels who they could support and who unlike the OF really need those supporters.
  13. It’s the age old problem of all City clubs where you are just a small sporting organisation in a very big pond competing with all sorts of distractions and inevitably the OF.The sense of community which the Ayrshire villages have doesn’t exist and that in itself is a major factor.
  14. I detest both sides of the Old Firm and all the poison that they have brought to football and society in Scotland -my Dad took my brothers and I to Lok as a local non sectarian alternative and we all became hooked. Just chose my name to show that I was a dedicated Lok fan-nothing more.Although I agree that for those seeking it it may have certain unwanted connotations.
  15. Am I right in thinking that Ross Dunlop who we had at Lok and was excellent and stepped up senior at the time is now with Gartcairn too along with his father?
  16. Friendlies aren’t hugely significant so we shall see if the Johnstone millions deliver when it really matters
  17. Who is the money man behind all of the sudden cash at Johnstone? I do agree that the team is now of the quality to win the league without any more “celebrity” signings. The cash should be invested in upgrading Keanie Park and getting the club a Licence.
  18. I think big Calum will do well-he was still learning and needed to sharpen up and harden up when we had him but I think he is developing well after his time at Meadow and will score goals for Clydebank. His physical presence alone makes him an asset.
  19. Yep that is the last thing any player needs just when they are trying to grab the opportunity to feature at a new club and do well.Really bad luck to get an injury like this straight away and hope he comes back as quickly as is possible.
  20. A total nonsense that we have re-entered.We decided to pull out and that should have been that.
  21. He has a big job on his hands and a few of us think he has maybe gone a bit too far with the clear out as it really looks like a complete overhaul happening -although if players themselves didn’t want to stay then not a lot he can do.Would hate to lose Christie as he is real quality - losing Esplin and the McCanns really leaves only him as the player of proven quality at Lok.
  22. Agree-plus pretty injury prone as well
  23. Yes the existing site value and the new deal must be closely linked on various levels so the fans must be able to see the full breakdown of all of that before making a decision.
  24. Sidey is a great player but can’t see that he is the way forward for Darvel
  25. At least Arthurlie have a Council which is supportive.Lok just seem to be battling with the local authority at every turn with no support on anything
