I dont really know where else to put this so I'll put it in spoilers.

Week past Friday. Morrisons car park. Around 10pm. Pitch black and I see a guy standing on his phone with what appears to be a big loop of metal above his head. The light directly above the van starts flickering then goes out. A few moments later my dash shows "interior electrics disabled" and the locks open. I panic and rattle the keys and see a hand and a phone light in the passenger side wing mirror at the side door. I drive off, immediately followed by three cars who took off but stopped just outside Morrisons at the big circle. I then drive to near my home but not my home where a xar turns up and stops, lights go out and although not clear I can see a door open. Several minutes pass and then the car starts again drives by me, turns and parks about 20 metres behind me and switches off. The lights go out and a few moments later there are two mobile like lights walking towards my van. I drive off and that's that.

Friday I was in Inverness then down to Sundee to a mates. About 9pm I go to Sainsburys and after shopping I sit reading the paper. The light above my van starts flickering and once again I get the dashboard message. I again, panic. What followed was nothing short of fucking mental. Long story short, I've ended up pulling an all nighters determined I was being followed by 5 or 6 cars. There's a winch under the van missing, tools are missing and certain electrics on the van don't work. I turned up at a police station to be told "you seem a bit paranoid". I seen a couple of the cars who were following me and the police said to drive somewhere I felt comfortable. I pointed out two cars that past that I recognised. I drove to a spot I chose and lo and behold the car I pointed out to the police followed us there. They said it could be a coincidence. I agreed to let it lay and they left me at home - a few hours later I had a knock at the door saying it looks like my lights and window wipers have been left on. I said to the neighbour to go back in their home and don't worry about it. Contacted the police and walked to the van. It was unlocked and the 12v 'lighter' bit was open. I locked the van and went back in. An hour later I seen 2 guys at the van and a car in the car park that I think I recognised so me going fight or flight took a knife out and again, the van was unlocked but nobody was there. I started shouting in the street and coupled with the knife, this seen me psych warded.

Every professional mental health doctor or crisis team has said it doesn't seem like I have any need for bring there. I was released and have heard nothing more from the police.

An absolutely demoralising and quite frankly, shite state of affairs. I care not a jot whether the van remains or goes. I care deeply about telling them I'm not going to the house so they can't know where I stay and now after the fact, they've fucked off and I'm left jumping when the toaster pops.

By the sounds of it you've either been overdoing it and need about 48 hours sleep, or you should get the f**k out of Dundee sharpish, preferably to an airport.

Starting their pish again is it?

I'm still blocked from their FB but they're saying a few of their players had booked holidays because the season was supposed to have finished before Easter. Disappointing that the youth players refused to step up but I don't think they're back to the batshit mental times of John Trew's reign.

I see that Erdogan's party took a sore one in local elections in Turkey.  According to the Independent ...

"Turkey’s main opposition party has secured a sweeping victory in local elections, dealing a serious setback to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s two-decade grip on power and signalling a change in the country’s political landscape.

The opposition candidate, Ekrem Imamoğlu, clinched a second term as Istanbul’s mayor despite Erdogan’s concerted effort to unseat him and, in the process, cemented his position as the president’s main challenger.

“My dear Istanbulites, you opened the door to a new future today,” Mr Imamoğlu said addressing the overjoyed supporters of his Republican People’s Party (CHP).

Starting from tomorrow, Turkey will be a different Turkey. You opened the door to the rise of democracy, equality and freedom …You ignited hope at the ballot box.”

Anyone got a view on whether this is just a blip or might Erdogan's coat be on a shoogly?

Erdogan tanked the economy, partly by thinking you can control inflation by cutting interest rates, rather than the opposite which the rest of the world believes. Inflation is now around 70% and he's also held responsible for the lax building regs that made the earthquake much more devastating than it might have been, and a slow response to it. I think he's fucked.

I recall reading some KC or other on Twitter stating strict liability inferring 'if it can be published in Scotland it's as good as being said in Scotland'

Normally you can't be extradited for doing something that's legal in your own country, no idea how it works across internal UK borders.

What's the jurisdiction here? I'm not in Scotland but P&B might be. Does this mean i can be hateful towards other poster if they're also outside Scotland? I don't particularly want to have a go at disabled or trans people but i'd quite like to reserve the right to call some posters "old c***s" if circumstances render it appropriate.

The responsible Minister was asked more or less this on Radio 4 this morning and said you wouldn't be liable.

  6. I think we'll be ok, being offensive, shocking or disturbing is perfectly fine.

(2)A person commits an offence if—

    (a)the person—

(i)behaves in a manner that a reasonable person would consider to be threatening or abusive, or

(ii)communicates to another person material that a reasonable person would consider to be threatening or abusive, and

(b)in doing so, the person intends to stir up hatred against a group of persons based on the group being defined by reference to a characteristic mentioned in subsection (3).

    (3)The characteristics are—

    (a)age,

    (b)disability,

(c)religion or, in the case of a social or cultural group, perceived religious affiliation,

    (d)sexual orientation,

    (e)transgender identity,

    (f)variations in sex characteristics.

(4)It is a defence for a person charged with an offence under this section to show that the behaviour or the communication of the material was, in the particular circumstances, reasonable.

(5)For the purposes of subsection (4), in determining whether behaviour or communication was reasonable, particular regard must be had to the importance of the right to freedom of expression by virtue of Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights, including the general principle that the right applies to the expression of information or ideas that offend, shock or disturb.

This will've been covered before definitely somewhere on the site and probably in this thread. I don't have a firm stance on it, I'm more just posting it to see what others think.

The possible conspiracy theory would be the explanation for why the sufferers experienced the symptoms they did. If weapons were used on them then this study didn't find signs of that. I saw defenders of the theory putting "lack of evidence isn't evidence" and similar in response.

Der Spiegel, 60 Minutes and The Insider (Russian expats in Latvia) have a joint investigation claiming it's real and it was the Ruskies what done it.

  9. You'll get a hint of how ancient I am when I say the only time I was in Bulgaria was before the iron curtain came down, crossing through on route to Turkey, and my main memory is of delicious yoghurt that they sold in plastic bags, and horse meat at a border restaurant that was dry and chewy, and cafes in Sofia where you had to stand in 3 different queues to get a cup of tea and a cake. Just got this link in an email though from a travel guide firm that I've used before, the most knowledgeable I think on Eastern Europe especially, which should be more helpful.

I've always liked Alonso, seems honest rather than the overtrained in PR robots most of them are. His honesty is sometimes only perceptible through a disguised wink though tbf.

As someone who resides far from a railway station, relying solely on buses for public transport, I appreciate your perspective. Indeed, the financial viability of extending service hours plays a crucial role. If there were profitable opportunities—whether through increased passenger ridership or government subsidies—transport companies would likely seize them. However, it seems that local councils currently lack the appetite to enhance subsidies. 🚌💡

Local councils are reduced to cutting services from the most basic provisions of the welfare state at the moment, unless they find a way past the Scottish Government's Council Tax freeze there will be zero money available for increased public transport subsidies. In a better financial climate I'd like to see a demand based service for rural communities, where minibuses could operate a hybrid schedule, part taxi and part bus, but at the same rate per mile as normally scheduled services.

Took the camera with me for the Inverness Atheltic vs Invergordon game.  Invergordon settled any nerves with a goal within the first 5 mins, before making it 2-0 in the first half.  Second half, Inverness were the better side and with the wind in their favour, but just couldn't get that final bit of magic in front of goal.

Why can't Brechin beat any of the top 5 and Buckie not beat anybody outwith it just now?!

We know the first part, but the latter is such a mystery that it's almost deliberate.

A weird thing is how Buckie keep beating the top sides on Wednesday nights but get nowhere against the dross on Saturday afternoons.

Thanks for sharing that link, it made quite disgusting and I thought, disturbing reading. Despite that, giving air to the corrupt stench is a good thing.

I've heard most of the allegations before, especially around Kincora, but I can't guarantee 100% veracity to every detail. There's a hint of possible homophobia running through the piece which suggests some caution might be wise before quoting it verbatim. There was definitely something rancidly rotten and psychotic in the failed statelet though.
