  1. Seems some Israelis have taken against TVP, a Polish English language TV channel that interviewed their Ambassador.

Apart from accusing Poles who protested Israel's behaviour in Gaza of being anti-semites, he three times refused to answer whether the IDF would have bombed the convoy if they thought there might have been someone they suspected of being linked to Hamas onboard. That's what I think probably happened, collateral damage is no longer part of their calculations.

Does anyone know why religious views are ‘protected’ by this Act yet political views are not?

Religion is often used as code for race, so Muslim is often used interchangeably with South Asian. You often get racists claiming they can't be because Islam/Judaism/Catholicism isn't a race. Political opinion isn't used the same way.

P.S. The Act specifically rules out criticism of religious ideas and practices as an offence, it also abolishes the offense of blasphemy.

Tell her it will be full of drunken scotsmen and Hungarian hooligans, so not a safe place for a woman to be 😉

I think she's Hungarian, not sure about the hooligan part..

That all costs money, which clubs may not have, also it's highly unusual for a period of rain like this, so hopefully this may be a one off.

We just came back from Lossiemouth yesterday afternoon. Rain was heavy the whole drive home, hit a few puddles felt the car slipping a few times.
To be fair to them how often does a game get called off in April due to a waterlogged pitch

I get that, but the reason for the backlog of games is because these specific clubs have been postponing games all season when in previous seasons they wouldn't have needed to.*

*except for Keith, they've always had trouble..

  5. Brora v Vale moved to Golspie

    Buckie v Strathspey postponed

    Forres v Wick postponed

Keith v Brechin 1.30 pitch inspection postponed

All due to waterlogged pitches. All 4 clubs need to get serious in the summer about sorting the drainage out, this season has been embarrassing. Brora, Buckie and Forres have been some of the more reliable grounds till this year.

I relented and bought one ticket for the Hungary game.

Got a buyer for my England tickets so works out a wee bit better than on the face of it.

Told the wife, her face when I told her how much 🙈

    You going without her?

Easter is unusually early this year, and for many years NCL has always ended in mid-April... league wasn't extended, and as you say it's not a recently rearranged game. Looks more like Fort just couldn't raise an XI on a holiday weekend.

The clubs had 2 fewer fixtures this year and Fort William would have finished their fixtures by March 23rd if the Halkirk game hadn't been postponed. It's poor that they couldn't raise a team despite having reserves available, and it was daft to book holidays so soon after the scheduled season given our weather, but plenty other teams have struggled for players at the end or beginning of the season, particularly before the end of the Summer amateur leagues which are more popular than the North Caley in some parts of the region. The difference is they always manage to put some kind of team together, I hope and expect Fort William will start next season with serious negative points, it's not like they had an outbreak of the plague.

I’ve not been able to find hard figures but there have been a number of references to the fact that trading has been at a very low volume.  It seems to have been mainly speculators buying then cashing in.

Average daily number of shares traded has been 6.74 million, total number of shares being around 112 million. They only went public last week so I don't really know what that means. I agree that nearly all the volatility will be down to speculators, the mad trumpets responsible for the massive over valuation of the failing company won't be selling.

Agreed. I think the short version is the legislation is wholly unneccessary. I'm struggling to understand how exercised those mounting such a staunch defence of it are getting.

It's mainly because the criticisms so far are made up nonsense, factually incorrect.

See just as a wee point though, it's obviously not a hate crime but will you have a whole load of hate incidents logged against your name a la Murdo Fraser?  That in itself doesn't seem right, either.

It's all very reasonable for Murdo Fraser.

It would take a little while to complete the process, and the stock would tank even more during that time.

I don't see how it can tank much more with Trump and his pals holding onto most of the shares. Speculators have likely already cashed in and the remainder are probably true MAGA believers who will hold on till they die.

91%. To say I'm happy is a massive understatement. This calls for a few beers in celebration tonight.

    What's a reflective essay/account?

  13. Given how few people get done for stirring up racial hatred despite all the dog whistling going on, the hysterical pearl clutching by the likes of JKR and Sunak is laughable. The bar for prosecution is so high you need to be actively participating in and encouraging a violent lynch mob to get charged.

Trump’s Truth Social stock now worth $3.8 Billion, down from $6.1 Billion..and he cannot sell any for at least 6 months.

He can if the board approves it, five of the seven directors being  Donald junior, former arselicking congressman-in-chief Devin Nunes, and former Trump administration officials, Robert Lighthizer, Kash Patel, and Linda McMahon. If he can gee up MAGA to buy his shares before they become worthless he could still pick up a billion or two.

Week past Friday. Morrisons car park. Around 10pm. Pitch black and I see a guy standing on his phone with what appears to be a big loop of metal above his head. The light directly above the van starts flickering then goes out. A few moments later my dash shows "interior electrics disabled" and the locks open. I panic and rattle the keys and see a hand and a phone light in the passenger side wing mirror at the side door. I drive off, immediately followed by three cars who took off but stopped just outside Morrisons at the big circle. I then drive to near my home but not my home where a xar turns up and stops, lights go out and although not clear I can see a door open. Several minutes pass and then the car starts again drives by me, turns and parks about 20 metres behind me and switches off. The lights go out and a few moments later there are two mobile like lights walking towards my van. I drive off and that's that.

Friday I was in Inverness then down to Sundee to a mates. About 9pm I go to Sainsburys and after shopping I sit reading the paper. The light above my van starts flickering and once again I get the dashboard message. I again, panic. What followed was nothing short of fucking mental. Long story short, I've ended up pulling an all nighters determined I was being followed by 5 or 6 cars. There's a winch under the van missing, tools are missing and certain electrics on the van don't work. I turned up at a police station to be told "you seem a bit paranoid". I seen a couple of the cars who were following me and the police said to drive somewhere I felt comfortable. I pointed out two cars that past that I recognised. I drove to a spot I chose and lo and behold the car I pointed out to the police followed us there. They said it could be a coincidence. I agreed to let it lay and they left me at home - a few hours later I had a knock at the door saying it looks like my lights and window wipers have been left on. I said to the neighbour to go back in their home and don't worry about it. Contacted the police and walked to the van. It was unlocked and the 12v 'lighter' bit was open. I locked the van and went back in. An hour later I seen 2 guys at the van and a car in the car park that I think I recognised so me going fight or flight took a knife out and again, the van was unlocked but nobody was there. I started shouting in the street and coupled with the knife, this seen me psych warded.

Every professional mental health doctor or crisis team has said it doesn't seem like I have any need for bring there. I was released and have heard nothing more from the police.

An absolutely demoralising and quite frankly, shite state of affairs. I care not a jot whether the van remains or goes. I care deeply about telling them I'm not going to the house so they can't know where I stay and now after the fact, they've fucked off and I'm left jumping when the toaster pops.

By the sounds of it you've either been overdoing it and need about 48 hours sleep, or you should get the f**k out of Dundee sharpish, preferably to an airport.

Starting their pish again is it?

I'm still blocked from their FB but they're saying a few of their players had booked holidays because the season was supposed to have finished before Easter. Disappointing that the youth players refused to step up but I don't think they're back to the batshit mental times of John Trew's reign.

I see that Erdogan's party took a sore one in local elections in Turkey.  According to the Independent ...

"Turkey’s main opposition party has secured a sweeping victory in local elections, dealing a serious setback to Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s two-decade grip on power and signalling a change in the country’s political landscape.

The opposition candidate, Ekrem Imamoğlu, clinched a second term as Istanbul’s mayor despite Erdogan’s concerted effort to unseat him and, in the process, cemented his position as the president’s main challenger.

“My dear Istanbulites, you opened the door to a new future today,” Mr Imamoğlu said addressing the overjoyed supporters of his Republican People’s Party (CHP).

Starting from tomorrow, Turkey will be a different Turkey. You opened the door to the rise of democracy, equality and freedom …You ignited hope at the ballot box.”

Anyone got a view on whether this is just a blip or might Erdogan's coat be on a shoogly?

Erdogan tanked the economy, partly by thinking you can control inflation by cutting interest rates, rather than the opposite which the rest of the world believes. Inflation is now around 70% and he's also held responsible for the lax building regs that made the earthquake much more devastating than it might have been, and a slow response to it. I think he's fucked.
